I wonder about it quite frequently as its design is so different from anything you'll see in this area. It was built in 1917 and is on the National Register of Historic Places as well as the NM State Register of Cultural Places. I'm writing this review today because its Halloween and this building has such a Gothic feel to it. I can imagine this building being used as a haunted house on this chilly night. Spooks jumping out from every corner. Cobwebs hanging from the lighting fixtures. Adventures poking out from every bend of the hallways. In some rooms the floor boards are twisted and warped and make a creaking sound with each step sending chills down your spine. Whats missing though is the gargoyles that would be on the 2nd floor corners overlooking the crowd as they shuffle in this eerie ghostly edifice. Back to Reality: Currently it houses an array of businesses including Legal Aid and Animal Protection of NM. If you have a moment drive by or walk around take pictures enjoy thinking about what life must've been like in 1917 when this building first opened its doors. I can imagine all the Ooh's and Aah's from the crowd as they've never seen anything quite like it.

First, the obvious accolades: This enormous, modern-ish facility offers plenty of the communal goods it was rebuilt to offer. Senior citizens own mornings and early afternoons, and men of all ages crowd the basketball courts later in the day -- when we're not in the midst of a pandemic, that is. There's a game room, lots of meeting rooms, and a good exercise room... which is where they can do better. When our oldest was 16 years of age, she attempted to use the exercise equipment and was told the policy was 18+. The Duranes neighborhood, nearly every block, is classic old Albuquerque planning: very agrarian, incredibly narrow streets, and no sidewalks. Running and even walking anywhere is dangerous. This Community Center offers an exception to that rule, and it should expand its age restrictions.

Anything you want fresh can be found fresh and you better believe a lot of the restaurants utilize those fresh ingredients as well! The $5700 taxes I pay fon my property does not cover police protection and actually the chracter assasignation they do is very damaging. If you are a senior they might get the court to require you get a mental health evaluation and get admitted to a psych unit and drugged to fully discredit you when they tell the judge that you imagined your coins were stole and the police officer who took the report in front of the empty safe is fired and does not sign the report. Or they might file a phoney case in court and not serve you and get a arrest warrnt when you do not show up for arraignment. Then wait two years to arrest you as if you had been tried and found guilty and not shown up for your arrest. They did that to me and refused to let me pay $100 bail that I had with me and kept me in MVD for four days when I was 78 years old. It is a power trip. But when the Police Chief has never been to an academy and does not get annual inservcie I guess he is oblivious to the laws that pertiain to Constituional Rights. It is a darn power trip when they protect the thieves who rob you and tell your neighbors they have a thick file on you. It is so much worse than this. There were some vibs I felt when looking for my property 28 years ago that something was off. When I had over $40K gold and silver coins stolen from my safe and saw thieves leave over our shared fence and the investigation closed the next day you gotta know something in wrong. The same people refuse to write a report when you car engine under 49K miles, a Saab 9-5 is replaced with a much older one and the paibt is blisterd on hood, roof and trunk and burglar wires pulled out from the dash. So much more that I will testify in a court of law, if you can find one in New Mexico. They play a mean games that organized crime are experienced at. I have been told about others suffering similiar treatment, so if you wanna talk you can find my number on the internet.

It was very quiet and I didn't hear any traffic or noise while walking the grounds.. If you know of anyone or business with a torn or tattered flag. please kindly ask that they remove the flag. place it in the flag mailbox here and replace with a new flag. THANK YOU.. I learned more about service and sacrifice to country. Bless each of you and please make an effort to visit.

I went there for the Veterans Day celebration, first time and nothing in the modern area. I asked a couple of the volunteers about it they simply said we don't have anything like that sweetheart. I know honoring history is important, but a 20 year war doesn't have a memorial? No place for us to go and remember what we went through, the people that didn't and did make it back. I'm sorry that just seems a little wrong to me. Kind of makes me feel as though the city, the state, this country in large doesn't care much about our modern-day veterans. That sentiment is carried over to the staff that showed a general disdain for my A simple question. it made a huge impact on my Veterans Day going there to remember, and honor my late friends and Saud nothing, no plaques, no awards, no decorations in the visitor center, nothing after The Cold War. You get more remembrance of modern day veterans at the nuclear science museum. I think that's kind of messed up myself.

Sign me up and that's what I did! Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Very clean facility and restrooms. When I arrived the building was alive with many mature people. The cheapest breakfast in town can be found here. (pic with prices included). Funny moment: It got quiet when I walked in because I look young so I can see people questioning my age . Yes, I'm over 50+ and you'll see me in here very, very often so yall better be ready to have some fun when up I'm there! The 50+ Sports and Fitness Program includes weight training classes; aerobic, Yoga, Tai Chi classes; adapted aquatics; an outdoor recreation program; a walking program, the Albuquerque 50+ Games and much more. This library is one element in a larger community center area. There are outdoor sports fields,…read moreday care, a medical center, and a gym all nestled together. I can see how these facilities are an awesome resource for the surrounding community! I only utilized the library, but it was quaint, bilingual, and seemed to have all the standard amenities. Plus the whole area was really well groomed and attractive, so that's always a bonus! If you live on this side of town, you should definitely take advantage of the services they offer.

This was my first time at this location and we will be going back. The library is connected to a…read morebunch of family service offices (medical, GED, Family and Youth, gym, etc). (Blake (?) and Old Coors area). I went to the 10:15 story- time. I thought the librarian did a good job of engaging the 30 (or so) children with songs, fingerplays and 3 fun picture books. The story area was tucked away with a carpet area and benches for comfortable parent seating. There was a moderate selection of children's books and a few tables and computers for children to use. I was disappointed to find out that the stroy-time ends next week (end of May) and will not resume until the fall. However, after looking at their calendar, I was pleased to see they have several events, activities, crafts, etc planned for the summer. I didn't spend much time looking in other areas of the library. I was able to easily obtain a temporary library card and check out book with a self check-out system. I will look into accessing e-books (the librarian assured me it was very easy).
