Keep Albuquerque Quirky! This is a weird arts district for ABQ. This is where the free thinkers, the forward looking populace expresses their local flavor, their nuances of culture that makes ABQ unique. There's all kinds of great murals, public works of art, and awesome shops to check out up in here. It's right down the way on Route 66 from University of New Mexico, so it's a younger, hip crowd that goes here for local grub, shopping, and events. You're sure to find all kinds of old Route 66 memorabilia, or stuff made by local artisans. It's all small local businesses, there are no chains around here as far as I know. You're sure to find some cool foreign grub, a nice tattoo parlor, or a kitschy gift shop that focuses on Abq pride. Parking can be challenging- keep an eye out for private lots or the back streets off of Central Ave. read more

Nob Hill has always been one of my favorite neighborhoods in Albuquerque. It has a plethora of unique shops and fantastic restaurants - including a variety of sushi places. It tends to be a little more looked over by the tourists and is host to a lot of students which makes for a fun combination of cutting edge and culture. My favorite place to grab a bite to eat would have to be Sushi and Sake - you can't beat the all you can eat sushi - and the Olo Yogurt Studio has incredible locally made frozen yogurt! Boba Tea is a local hit for a reason and should not be overlooked. The AuxDog Theater has great shows and independent Guild Cinema is always a treat, showing hard to find films with really great popcorn! If you want that cool city vibe of walking the street and strolling into shops and checking out menus for the restaurants, Nob Hill is that place. read more

Nob Hill- This is like art district of Albuquerque. Nob Hill is located on Central Ave by the University of New Mexico. When you walk this stretch you are actually walking down the Historic Route 66! I liked the graffiti and wall murals- very cool. Route 66- I loved all of the old vintage and retro motels and gas stations. There is something so special, so surreal, about being deadlocked and centered in such an iconic piece of American history. You can really appreciate days past when you are looking at what was and what is side by side. read more

I adore this little Albuquerque gem! Such a unique and artistic vibe, cute shops and delicious eateries, and you can tell the city and residents are really making an effort to revitalize the area. I truly hope the growth in Nob Hill continues and Albuquerque residents continue to support the cool small businesses of the area. read more

Retro, Hipster, and Collegate, nob hill is a nice place to stroll, shop, eat, or pub crawl. The area is pretty safe overall. Walking at night you can admire the retro neon signs. The charm of this area is at least partially due to the ghosts of old route 66. It is a nicely preserved section. When you get out of nob hill to the east there are many roadside motor inns, half out of commission. It would have been a treat to see it in full blossom back in the day. The stores in this area are mostly boutique, and geared toward those with ample money to burn. There are some local artist shops with neat apparel and more artsy wares. The Guild Cinema is not to be missed, be sure to check if anything up your ally is playing. The record store near it is thoughtful and you can count on the quality should you buy any merchandise. The herb shop is really cool too, and has amazing teas and a huge selection of incense. If you live in this area driving is optional. For small grocery shopping needs there is the co- op. It can be hard resisting going out to eat all the time with so many tasty choices all around. read more

Not a bad area, fine dinning, bars, and shops perfect for the college kids. Lots of different places to go on the central stretch along with the neighborhood areas. Lots of small local businesses. There's a little bit of everything for just about everyone. I don't recommend visiting the fashion shops unless you got a lot of money to blow. Some of the shops a simple graphic t-shirt will run you $40+. The dinning is slightly cheaper depending where you go. The atmosphere is nice and calm, when the bums aren't out. Unfortunately central is a magnet for homeless people after dark, and it's such a sad sight to see. During the day it's a bit more quiet and you don't have to worry too much. I recommend Hana Teppanyaki, they have great food at a fair price! I'm not familiar with too many bars down there so I don't have any to recommend unfortunately. Lots to see. Lots to do. Whether you live, work or play in Nob Hill you'll always find something fun to do. A short walk west from Carlisle and Central you'll find some of Albuquerque's koolest mainstay eateries such as Il Vicino & Scalos to the newer to the neighborhood restaurant like Soul & Vine. You'll come across The Guild Theater with its never ending list of eclectic choices as well as condos & shops. Nob Hill may not be everyone's "cup o' tea" but it is definitely mine. Great local restaurants (As many Thai restaurants as you can shake a fork at...). Breweries *cough* B2B *cough-cough* Tractor Brew, and even a chain or two if that's what you're looking to get into. You can walk and hit up many a shop as well. (I tend to frequent the Urban Outfitters, Nob Hill Music, and occasionally when I have a taste for pricey clothing Izzy Martin. It's an all encompassing area and one that I very much enjoy taking in on the regular. It's worth a visit. At least for a meal and a bevery. It may not be what you're into, but you'll never know until you try, now will you? read more

Why I like Nob Hill: -Il Vicino for their pizza, salads and beer -Slice Parlor for the pizza, craft beer selection and flat-screens featuring sporting events -Two Fools for bringing the east coast Irish pub to Burque -Tractor Brewing for offering local craft brews right in my hood (although I've noticed a decline) -Kelly's for their patio (and little else) -Izzy Martin for selling dope clothes (although I can't afford any of them) -Zinc Bar for the cool cellar bar -Olo for that frozen yogurt that borders on crack cocaine -Guild Cinema for being a cool little theater Yeah, there's just a lot of cool spots around here. In truth, there are plenty of spots I could do without, and I've kind of gotten tired of some of these places, but hey, I'm not sure there's another neighborhood with the same wealth of options. Downtown can't match foodwise --- although Anodyne by itself makes it a contender --- and every other neighborhood is too spread out. I guess I'm lucky to live so close to NH. read more

Nob Hill is the only true "walking village" neighborhood in New Mexico. There is no other neighborhood in which people live, is a destination for entertainment/shopping, is pedestrian friendly, and has true New Mexican history while not being a tourist trap. The state has pedestrian friendly entertainment areas (the plaza in Santa Fe), bar districts (downtown Albuquerque), tourist traps (Old Town), and bedroom neighborhoods with deep history (Barelas, Martinez town, 12th & Mountain) but no community has in one place everything Nob Hill has. Nob Hill is a self sufficient neighborhood; meaning that on foot you can get everything you need for daily living without leaving the area. Groceries shopping, international dining, upscale bars, dive bars, high end shopping, local businesses, national chains, office/school supplies, electronics, yoga, clothing, clubs, tattoo studios, spas, the entire gamut. It has maintained true to it's Route 66 roots while also evolving with the tastes of the neighborhood and the city. It's a vibrant neighborhood while also a quiet bedroom community. Being an old neighborhood it's full of trees and is very pleasant to walk through. Housing prices run from the $150k through $1m+ creating a great diversity that avoids the homogeneous nature of many other destination areas in not only Albuquerque but the entire US. Not too impressed with this area, but by New Mexico standards, this is probably the best they can do considering ABQ downtown. Basically, this area is alot of nothing. Scattered places, maybe one or two true bars, one overpriced mini shopping center and nothing tying everything together. It's more funky than flash and there are flies everywhere, I mean in every restaurant and every nook and cranny. Ok, so it's better than the UNM neighborhood down the street, but there is room for improvement in getting more bars and a better selection of more inviting places to eat and drink. The parking is good after 6pm (Free), but that historic motel should have been torn down to make this a true destination. It brings a seedy element to the area and there is already enough of that element in New Mexico. read more

Probably the one of the few 'cute' shopping, dining, and entertainment areas in Albuquerque. Just don't expect anything like other major cities. Also, after midnight, stay vigilant. Central Avenue goes through here so the area is definitely split into two sides, not a little neighborhood. It has some cool stores, nice restaurants, music venue, game hangout, and independent movie theater so it can make for a pleasant afternoon or evening. read more

I feel so degraded writing a 5 star review for these star-bellied sneeches! But it really is the best place to go for dining, shopping, and nightlife. I can't imagine not recommending this stretch of Rt. 66 from Girard to Washington as it has most of my favorite food, drink, and custom t-shirts. Furthermore, there really isn't a need to hate them. They resurrected from the grips of blithe and prostitution and filth darn shabby bum darn filth bad. They pulled it up by allowing creative young entrepreneurs to set up shop and draw in the curious and inspire the bored. Those very entrepreneurs have been displaced by half million dollar condos but the spirit lives on in the old guard: Birdland, Masks y Mas, new guard: Olo, Chocolate Dude, Astro-Zombies, Scalo, Montanita, Beeps, Satellite, O'neils, Double Rainbow (of Flying whatever),Kelly's, Satellite, Laru, Red Wing, Firehouse, Il Vicino, Zachary, Buffalo, and the new guard: Zinc, Zacatecas, Elaines, Tractor, Beauty Shop, Ajiaco, Thomas... I really thought I could type them all, but I'm getting tired and there's still like 15 others. read more
