A few months later I started showing, and subsequently - fast forward to December of 2024 - I bought my first horse with Hannah's help. Hannah has made me feel incredible comfortable in a completely new world. She knows her stuff and looks after the horses incredibly well. I always love my time at the barn and Hannah has helped me push myself to improve. She is an incredible riding instructor and trainer, and I truly can't recommend her enough. Hannah is extremely patient and kind and has helped me along in my very short riding journey. I value her as a trainer and friend so much! She is extremely compassionate and understanding. She will never make you feel bad about your riding, rather provides positive feedback and a plan of action for improving at your pace. The barn is like a second family. From the horses, the riders, and their families, Laurel Ridge Stables has really created a safe space focused around community, determination and good sportsmanship. I always joke saying I'm healing my inner child but it's true. Working with Hannah and the horses have changed my life. This barn is a show barn, so the barn participates in shows in/out of state (mainly in Texas). I started showing this year and it's such a fun way to get more involved and work towards a goal. No matter how young or old, there's always room! The lesson program is wonderful and each horse has something to teach (just be sure to say thank you and give lots of treats)!The horses are all well taken care of and barn is beautiful. There were never pictures even though we repeatedly asked. She went on vacation and the day she comes back says one donkey needed to be euthanized. We asked for pictures. It took a day to get only a head shot of the donkey and another day to get a body shot. We moved our animals as fast as we could. We love this place. The coaches are mostly high school and college students so they have lots of…read moreenergy and patience! They teach the students buildable skills so they can keep advancing. None of the students have to sit around and wait their turn. Every class has four to five stations that the students rotate through so they are practicing the entire time. They have plenty of equipment too. The coaches are vigilant and I've never felt like my daughter was at risk for an injury. Some of the students may struggle a bit more than some of their peers but the coaches give an equal amount of attention to all of the students. I'm not certain they limit the number of students per class but I believe they do because there is never more than 8 or 10 students per class, at least that I have seen. They do have multiple classes going at once so sometimes it's pretty hectic but the coaches are on top of it! The coaches are so sweet so if your worried your kid might not be the best and they'll feel discouraged it really isn't an issue! The price is fantastic and they offer extra lessons (like a tutoring session) for a very good price. I highly recommend.
