He was…read moredelighted to find Motel du Fleuve, as it was around 15 minutes away from where we go every year to a family BBQ. From the outside, it looks adorable, and the price was good. They told us at the beginning that this was a non-smoking room, and we both were very very happy to hear that. Also, the motel's proximity to the river was excellent, so we could have a grand vista upon opening up our door. As soon as we approached our room, and opened the door, the stench of cigarettes was so thick, I thought we'd get cancer sleeping there. Also, I am disabled, and there were no bars in the shower, nor near the toilet. While the bed seemed ok, we could not get rid of the stench of the cigarettes. There were not enough towels for us to bathe. It took a few phone calls to finally get some. There were these series of hooks on the wall, and so since there were no closets, my husband took one of his linen summer shirts that was on a wire hanger, and hung it on a hook. What happend next? That little light shirt on a wire hanger pulled all those hooks down. We were hysterical, that something so minute could do something like that. Lucky I didn't have to hang up any underwear! I need a desk, chair and a lamp to put on makeup. I always bring a magnifying mirror with me. I set up my makeup mirror, and take out all my makeup, went to turn on the desk lamp, and what do you think? It didn't work! had no light to get dressed. We were supposed to stay three nights, had to leave after two. I do not recommend this motel for anything at all. It could have been a very pleasant stay, but it was not. I think these people that own the place do not care about it whatsoever. If I could have given it a half a star, I would have.

It's 4.75 for a shot of spirits and add the mix so 7 bucks for a drink 4 for a beer which is a little steep. The room had one queen bed, a desk, a small round pub like table with two chairs, a fridge, a TV hung in the corner of the room. The room only came with two thin pillows, ask the desk for more they won't be enough. There is an air conditioner mounted in the window, worked great for the size of the room. The sheets were adequate, no comforter or duvet just the thick top sheet and dust cover. The water pressure was fantastic. The hot takes a bit to get going but we always had hot water. The bathroom is clean and isn't cramped. You may hear the water turning on in other rooms , the pipes in the walls, but outside of that it seemed to be sound proofed pretty good. We couldn't hear any TV's in other rooms or any other noises for that matter. WIFI signals are strong but the internet is very slow. Good for checking the news but don't plan on streaming Netflix or any services like that. We were constantly getting bumped off the WIFI and having to reconnect although the signals strength was great. Wasn't a huge concern for us. TV has lots of English channels which was surprising and awesome. The location is east shore of the river across from Montreal, directly on the river on a bike/walking path that goes up to a small park. It is off the beaten path but you can catch an UBER into Montreal on St Catherine st for about 16 bucks. It's the same price to get into Brossard to shop so why not go into Montreal? The only pizza place that delivers is COMO. It's okay, typical regional type pizza place, awesome amounts of cheese on the pizza, pepperoni under the crust. $40 for two mediums with two toppings then add tip. For the price and the service this place was an absolute gem and we had no major complaints. The location is out of the way from everywhere but if you compare to paying for parking and the hassle downtown Montreal you might as well come here and grab an UBER into town and back.

They obviously take pride in it! Extremely convenient location right in the heart of Vieux Montreal; lots of shopping, great restaurants, directly across the street from the port, and just steps away from Rue St. Paul and points of interest. Our streetside room overlooked the port and was very quiet, with a view. I called with a question before our stay and the gentleman was very courteous and helpful. Price was very reasonable. As it is still off-season (mid-April) I'm not sure if any of this would be different during summer peak. Yes, you need to park off-site as you would anywhere else in old Montreal, but the Grand Quay parking is right across the street, very safe and convenient and at $35 CD for 24 hours, very reasonable. Yes, this is an "AirBnB -type accommodation" where you need to make your own bed and hang up your own towels, as some have stated. But this was right up there as one of the top AirBnB experiences I have ever had! Our kids and friends rented an AirBnB in the building right next door, and our place was sooo much nicer, cleaner, modern than theirs (was very run down) and I am very glad we chose to book this one. I truly can't say enough good things about our experience, highly recommend it and will definitely look to stay here again on any future trips to Montreal!

There's no reception desk and you check in to the hotel and your room with a code that's emailed to you. There's a lobby with coffee and on Sundays, some pastries, and laundry machines in the hallways. The rooms themselves are like mini apartments. There's small kitchenettes and nice bathrooms with rainfall showers. TVs come equipped with AppleTV's and there's reliable and fast Wifi. Walls are a bit thin though. My next door neighbours were binge watching The Office which I was reminded of every time the opening played. It's a 5 minute stumble home from 3AM La Banquise poutine and next door to a fancy meal at Au Pied du Cochon. It's 5 minutes from the Sherbrooke subway station and next to the beautiful Parc Lafontaine. It's a great location in the Plateau and out of the really touristy areas. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. While there wasn't a check in counter, it didn't feel impersonal at all.

However, I feel for the price, you could do better-- and I wish they were more communicative about the problems that they had encountered to prep the guests for their visit. I did write a review through Airbnb, and I will relay the content through there, as well as add pictures to describe what happened. Per my Airbnb review: "The location is wonderful, apartment is a good crash pad... However, the A/C was not working as advertised, and they were aware of the issue beforehand due to a fire. Since A/C was essential during a hot summer, they were nice enough to bring a fan, however, they DID know about the issue beforehand and they could have warned us so we could have made alternate arrangements, or they could have offered more for the inconvenience. They had limited amenities-- no hand soap, for instance, though there was dish washing soap, and shower gel. While they were nice, and somewhat timely, it was difficult to reach them if it was urgent (my calls usually went to voicemail.) Some doors were not working (entrance) or they were hard to open. They should be able to keep their properties updated better, as well as updating their potential guests about issues that may arise. While the location was great, given the inconvenience, I would hesitate in rebooking unless they were extremely specific about updates re: amenities." So let me update with what happened: We booked this apartment due to the location, and the amenities. Due to medical conditions, I tend to run unreasonably hot and therefore, I usually book places that have air conditioning. We booked it, given that the apartment looked nice and featured air conditioning. As soon as we stepped into the unit, there was no "welcome booklet" provided from the company (we had to look downstairs in the lobby for their quick check in sheet), as well as the A/C unit itself was not working. We quickly told them this, and they were nice enough to send a maintenance man over the next day. The maintenance man came over and then told us he did not know how to fix it, after trying a couple solutions. After letting them know about the result, they went out of their way to message us, telling us that the problem was connected to something that they knew about beforehand. Yes, I understand a fire is out of your control, but this is your property. If you knew it would affect the units, why wouldn't you remedy this by providing this information to guests that you are renting the units out to, or offering to place them in a different location? I don't think that's unreasonable, and most places providing service of that caliber would think of solutions. They did provide us with a fan, which I noted in my original review-- was great on them. However, it wasn't enough to provide us with a comfortable sleep. I find it funny that they kept citing outside temperatures and that we should be able to sleep comfortably. Unfortunately, even with the windows open, apartments can be well isolated and since there is no wind, it can still cause apartments to be hot. With the fan on, while they cited 18 C temperatures, it was, in fact (due to their wall units and the temperatures we had seen) actually 24 - 26 C consistently in the apartment. None of the support people were even on property as this is a self-serviced apartment, so I believe they are just trying to save face. After reading their airbnb review (saying I was "unfair and trying to demand more money even though so and so") I would never stay here again. Despite their paltry refund of 10% and a complimentary night stay-- why would I stay at a place that knew about the problems, and then didn't try to remedy them beforehand? And then, additionally, why would I stay after they wrote me a bad review with false information? This would have been a 2-3 star review due to excellent location and cleanliness. But their service is severely lacking. You could do better.

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals every day, which saved tons of money (restaurants in Montreal are expensive). The best part of the apartment is the gorgeous deck, where we spent every evening enjoying dinner, wine, and relaxing. The apartment is about a 10-15 minute walk to Marche Jean-Talon, which is the first thing we did in Montreal-- stocked up on tons of fresh fruits, veggies, local meats and eggs and bread. The apartment is only 5 minutes walk to the Beaubien Metro (subway), which we used almost every day to explore the sights of Montreal. The subway is clean and extremely efficient, and cost-effective if you buy an Opus card. Alain was a nice host (he and his wife live downstairs), and although we didn't need anything, he made sure we knew we could always knock on his door if we did. The rental process itself was easy, and he immediately refunded to us our security deposit after we checked out. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we can't wait to go back!

We were hosted by Gilles who has been running this place for over 20 years. He'll definitely make you laugh and make you feel welcome. He cooks amazing breakfasts every morning between 8-10AM. Our room was great. The bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of our room. There's a nice brunch spot as well as a large grocery store within a few minutes walk. It had been quite some time since I stayed in an old school bed and breakfast. This experience made me want to stay in more of them again! The personal touch and care we received can't be matched in a hotel or an air bnb. I highly recommend staying at Gilles' place.

However, this accommodation turned out to be much closer in spirit to the hybrid aparthotels we stayed at in Porto and Madrid just a few months earlier. He booked a Superior Suite with King Bed and Balcony, and it was quite spacious at 538 square feet spread over two floors. The main floor consisted of the bedroom/living space and bathroom with a balcony, while a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and another balcony terrace made up the second floor. The ceilings and floors were concrete, but the rest of the interiors were all blond wood and white walls. Full housekeeping occurred after our third night and towel replacements upon request. The Ontario Street location really worked well for us and surprisingly so. We initially thought our proximity to the UQAM campus might get too youthfully douchey for us. It wasn't too bad, and what trumped it was the pure convenience of being close to local buses and two key subway stations (Saint-Laurent and Berri-UQAM). We were within easy walking distance from Old Montreal, and the Gay Village on Sainte-Catherine. The rate was quite reasonable at $188 per night. Definitely recommended for longer-than-average stays. This is the first hotel I've been to where there is no people interaction at all. There is no front desk or anyone to check in/out with. They send you a code in advance and you use it every time you enter the hotel and for your room. For some, maybe this would not be great but it was simple and easy for us. The rooms are equipped with kitchenette's and king size murphy beds, giving you both a lot of room and ability to live a little more like you would at home. The kitchenette was well stocked with plates, silverware, etc. I was actually a bit surprised that the bed was comfortable and I had no major qualms with the bathroom. It didn't have the water pressure I would prefer, but most hotels don't. And to top it off, I found this very convenient in terms of access to neighbourhoods we were visiting. Would definitely stay here again next I'm in Montreal.
