It is an old set of residences that have been converted into a B & B. I have a Jetta, so I could get in and out fairly easily, but I wouldn't be sure of anything much larger than that. Also, whether from the street side or the parking lot side, you're going to have a hard time getting around with a large suitcase. And if you yourself are larger than average (even if you are simply tall), the bathroom may also be a struggle, as it is really smushed into a small space. All that being said, it is a beautiful building and you can't beat the location. It is right by a subway station and in easy walking distance to Bell Centre. I felt perfectly safe walking back after the Hab's game. And leaving was pretty convenient too, as it is really close to a highway ramp.

Th is inn would be a much better experience if they had a different guy at front desk. His name is Sam and he's very rude and uptight. He claims to be the manager.I've met the owner and it's hard to believe he'd hire someone like that to be manager. It takes away from the charm of the place. He is especially rude to women and he acts like he knows me well. But I don't even know him. The location is good being close to a nice part of downtown all within walking distance. The shower in the room was cool plus there was a bathtub next to it. If anyone has a problem with front desk guy his name is Sami El Hassani. e

Everything from the hosts and food to the furniture and decorations sum up to a first class experience that simply surpasses that at every hotel I have stayed at. I contemplated posting photos of the delightful interior of the Gingerbread Manor, but in doing so, I would simply be ruining the surprise for the handful of people who might stumble upon this review. We booked a room with a private bath (de Maisonneuve) which was equipped with all the amenities one needs. The bed was comfortable to the point where it was hard to simply get out it each morning during the days we were there. Every morning, we were served breakfast by Ephraim. Each meal was complemented by a parfait starter and mini-desserts. It must be said that the coffee was excellent. But besides the quality of the food, the experience would not be the same without Yves and Ephraim. While we were out and about every day, we didn't have much of a chance to see Yves. Yves was the first to greet us upon arrival to make us feel at home. We spent most of our days chatting with Ephraim, who was a terrific host that I would liken to be a "walking Wikipedia" for everything Montreal. Our morning conversations were long and engaging covering topics from culinary arts and political science to music and technology. His restaurant recommendations were refreshingly honest and we never made a bad choice. He has my heartfelt gratitude for the introduction to the heart-attack inducing Canadian dish of poutine! The lovely Gingerbread Manor is a five-star experience. The hosts run a first-class operation, which is reflected in their personality and ability to make their guests feel right at home. I have no need to try any other B&B or any hotel the next time I return to Montreal. I might not even go back to Montreal if a room at Gingerbread Manor is not available.

The king room upstairs is better than home. The bed is comfy, the recliner was great, the bathroom was large and spotless. The room comes with its own large balcony right on the bay. We arrived by boat and the owner was great enough to drive us to a local restaurant and then come and pick us up. When we got back to the B&B, Jeanne had made us dessert! Strawberry shortcake. Breakfast the next day was incredible. All home made breads and coffee cake! All the eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, ham and home fries you could eat! We knew then we would be back. Since that first visit, we have been back here 6 other times and make sure to stay longer each time. Our last long visit was for 17 days. It was so wonderful, we never wanted to leave. Going to Heron's Way is just like going home to visit with family. Jeanne is incredible! Her family knows us well and they are all family. Our last visit was to spend our 10 year anniversary there. When we started thinking about where to go to celebrate, the choice was obvious. Heron's Way B&B, just like going home. If you are ever visiting Lake Champlain, Burlington VT or Plattsburgh NY area, you must make this one of your stops.

The proprietor, Jeanne, is very welcoming and accommodating and is also very knowledgeable about local wildlife, the lake, restaurants in the area, biking in the area, etc. Our room was upstairs and it was very clean. It was also very large, with a very comfortable king bed, sofa, several comfortable upholstered chairs, large screen TV, large bathroom with double sinks, view of the lake from the windows, and a private balcony overlooking the lake. I think it also had the complete works of Stephen King in a bookcase, if you are a fan of his. Jeanne likes to cook, and the breakfasts are just over the top. Every morning we were served about 3 selections of fresh fruit plus applesauce that Jeanne makes herself plus oatmeal (I am not usually a big fan of oatmeal, but she cooks hers for hours, and it's REALLY good) plus something she bakes fresh (muffins, coffee bread, etc), along with coffee, tea, juice. Then, she brings out the rest of the breakfast, which could be eggs and sausage, french toast, or frittata, etc. Then we would waddle to our bicycles. Jeanne is flexible about when she serves you breakfast. If you eat a bit later, you'll get to meet the neighbors, who are very pleasant. In addition to the balcony outside our room, there is a deck and screened porch outside, and there is a dock and a small beach on the lake, so you can swim in warm weather. She also has a couple of kayaks that you can use. We kept our bicycles in her garage downstairs. I was sorry to leave. Definitely going back.

But the scrambled eggs are better than I can make at home and the company is delightful. You can bring take away here and eat at the big dining table, or cook dinner, just be respectful of their no-meat kitchen. While mont royal is my favourite room I've had the chance to sneak a look at almost all of the other rooms and each has its own unique charm. It's an old house, so expect creaks, and walk lightly. It reminded us of home since we live in New Orleans, yet felt just more luxurious. The Marie-Anne suite downstairs is particularly wonderful. We were lucky to receive an upgrade for our first 2 nights and stayed there before moving into the small upstairs room that we had booked (the St. Laurent) for the remainder of our stay. The claw foot tubs in both rooms were great for relaxing after long days exploring the city on foot!! Breakfast was a delight: fresh fruit & croissants, yogurt & granola, delicious juices, even eggs cooked perfectly to order. That definitely exceeded our expectations for what would be available in the mornings.. The location is another of Casa Bianca's best aspects. It faces the park of course, and then it's surrounded by streets full of interesting shops & restaurants, which makes for days full of fun walks and great shopping. We ended up having to buy a duffel bag for everything we picked up along the way, and we didn't come here to shop much! Public transit is pretty easy to deal with too, although it's on the high end at $3 a person (at least that includes a transfer or two). Sophie, the manager, is a great hostess and her assistants are very friendly as well. We got some great recommendations for nearby restaurants, jazz bars, etc. Check in here and let them take care of you!

Stairs is all there is. The front desk has staffers to help to get your luggage up and down if needed at least. Most of the shopping for tourists are a block away on Rue St. Paul. Park out front temporarily to check-in. The staff will have a valet to help get your car parked and to help you find your loft. The valet acts as a driver or a porter to get your bags to your room. The lofts we stayed at are one street over on Rue St. Jean-Batiste. Do keep in mind it's less than a block away from where a train track is and could maybe get a bit loud as they pass by. Valet is C$48 a day, includes in and out though. The receptionist and valet are all attentive and friendly. The valet chauffeured us to our lofts since its off site. Good customer service so far. Space is good, some stairs. One floor would be better. I nearly took a spill the first half hour down the stairs to the foyer or door way. Only had one slippers, but still possible to fall, move slowly up and down the stairs. I find it odd the only garbage is the tiny one in the bathroom. There is nothing in the kitchen or by the office desk at all. Found a small one attached to the back of the door under the kitchen sink. Stayed here for 8 nights. The loft ceiling gives off a cabin feel. It's nice and spacious for two people for sure. Different areas to hang out to get some space, if needed. Gets nice and toasty in the room between the fire place, two radiators around the room. The valet brings the car right out front of the lofts. Drop-off to have valet park is out front of the main hotel off of Rue de la Commune E. The king bed is comfortable, great for stretching out. The two bathroom sinks are rather small and quite oddly placed so far back on the counter, makes it harder to not get water everywhere while washing your hands and face at all. Do be careful pulling down for the water, too much and the water comes out pouring and all over as a result, we learned that the first day here. The walls are super thin, you can hear your neighbors conversation, TV or whatever. :/ The sofa has only back rest pillows, no support for my husband to lay across at all. There is a chair with an ottoman, but he prefers the couch. All of the staff members we interfaced with daily were all attentive, helpful and friendly.Really good customer service and so hospitable too.
