Helpful and very generous staff. Chad was the best. My personal camera hero. Will definitely be going back!

I bought all my cameras here over the years and got a great deal every time. Plus they're locally owned. One of the only places that still processes film. They have superior film developing chemistry. read more

Recently bought at Sony A7 from Shawn there, and he spent tons of time talking me through all the different options. Friendly, patient, and super helpful...I'll be back! read more

Great customer services. The store manager Kyle was very help with this very inexperienced photo but. He introduced me to New space where I can take classes. read more

Great service and knowledgeable staff. I signed up for the Intro to DSLR Video workshop, and I hope to take the Intro to Photography class soon! read more

This place rules. Best place in Portland to get film processed and scanned and the whole staff is awesome.

The staff at this place is pretty good, and they know what they sell! I bought a 50 mm prime lens, a tripod, batteries , a lens hood and a bag from them. The lady precisely searched and gave me the bag I needed. Really neat! But I couldn't get original Nikon batteries, even after reminding them. read more

I absolutely love shopping here. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and more than willing to help me improve my technique. Chad was extremely helpful not only with camera stuff but also with all other aspects of photography; he was attentive and patient and taught me a lot of useful stuff, no sales pressure at all. Way more informative than reading blogs or asking the staff at Cameraworld. It's definitely worth working with these folks to find the right stuff as opposed to an uninformative competitor or website. Bravo! read more

Thank you staff for your help!!!!! You were great! Quality of my prints are fantastic as well! I will be back soon!

I really enjoyed my experience at The Shutterbug! The staff was incredibly helpful and I got exactly what I needed. The man who helped me was extremely knowledgeable about the products, good thing cause I am a newbie to the camera world. I needed a digital SLR for my photography class at school and really needed help picking one out. I went in, gave him my price range and he got me everything I needed. An Olympus e-pl1, a camera bag, an extra lens, filters, a 3 year warranty, an SD card and a few more thing here and there. It came to about $700. I will definitely be going back the next time I have a camera need. read more

If you are looking for Canadian Passport or Immigration photos this is the place to go! $25 for 2 photos. Very helpful and courteous staff. Mega kudos to Kyle for going above and beyond taking passport photos of our 4 month old! read more

Got passport photos- in and out in 10 minutes. Stellar service and actually a good photo!

Lots of selection, good sales. Too many fun camera toys, I could spend hours in a place like this. It was busy, possibly on account of the sale at the time, but when we did get attention, the staff was extremely knowledgeable. read more

Lots of products and helpful. I'm a novice camera user but they've been helpful getting my Nikon 1 geared up for fishing adventures

After going to two or three of the largest camera stores in Portland I had given up on finding a cable to recharge my wife's Nikon Coolpix. I was advised to go on line and pay $25 (plus, of course, wait for delivery). Happened to pass Shutterbug on Broadway, and since I wasn't in a hurry gave it one last shot. Woman at counter quickly found a cable that would work for $10 bucks. read more

Dear Shutterbug in Portland, I want to thank you for helping me out with my Nikon D750 that quit working after only a couple of weeks. Yours and Shutterbugs prompt and courteous handling of the camera reconfirmed my high regard for Shutterbug and your staff. I bought the camera just before Christmas as a gift to myself and promptly fell in love with it. You can imagine how concerned I was that it might be out of my hands for an extended period of time. But true to Shutterbug's satisfaction guarantee, you replaced it within only 4 days of receiving my original camera--all via shipping. Thanks again for taking such good care of your customers. I recently purchased a Nikon D750 here. The camera was not working properly. I returned it the next week and they exchanged the camera without any hassle. This alone is a great reason to buy a camera here rather than online. Shawn took good care of me. I would purchase camera gear here in the future. read more

I have been buying film and having it developed here for a few months and have had great experiences, but the past 24 hours have killed my interest in coming back. I got a call last night from an employee who handed off my prints to another customer with my last name, because said employee did not check their first name. I showed apparent frustration over the phone but did not blow up, they said they'd give me a call when the person who had mine would return them. They did, and I am grateful to have my prints back at all, but when I calmly and politely confronted the staff about it when I picked them up today, they actually interrupted me with a mumbled "yeahyeahitwon'thappenagain" as they walked away to help another customer. How can you not attempt to fix such a huge mistake? How can you be so dismissive? I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

Did not like the service, two of the staff members seemed very stuck up, and made me feel like my friend and I where wasting their time. That is not a good feeling when you are going to spend a few hundred on a camera! read more

Ash was a HUGE help. Major props to him for the amazing service. I will be coming back for sure. Thanks a ton guys. read more

Shane at the Broadway location was super helpful today. We went there this morning to get some answers on how to take pictures of shiny objects without getting a glare. He explained all our options and had lots of patience with all our questions. We will shop here again! read more

Can I give this place 6 stars?! Bought a Nikon D750 here last week. LOVE the camera, the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Although we live in Seattle we will always go out of our way to buy equipment here (no sales tax doesn't hurt). They offer a warranty I haven't seen anywhere else on cameras. 3 years! Includes accidental damage, and free sensor cleaning. Woooow. They even called to tell us about a Black Friday promotional we could take advantage of since we bought a camera earlier this week. Unbelievable customer service :) ! read more

Excellent service. Luke really went above and beyond. Everyone else there seemed helpful as well. Highly recommended.

I like this place because everyone that I talk to in there is very nice and helpful and seem to know what they are talking about. And, they are willing to do some price matching to gain a sale and a customer, unlike other camera shops in Portland. Give them a try! read more

Every time I come into shutterbug I am greeted by the extremely friendly, knowledgable staff or manager. I happily bicycle 45 minutes across the river from SE just to ensure the quality treatment and service I get there. I just got the best advice on film choice before going to photograph jazzfest in NOLA last weekend, and the photo service quality is always off the chain. They take the time to talk with me about whatever photography related discussion arises. Don't go to Walgreens or rite aid if you value developing your memories tangibly via the art of photography! Go to Shutterbug! read more

i'm very happy i shopped here. i was looking for a small, lightweight, inexpensive camera and i found it here - along with a friendly "good morning" when i walked in the door, and a knowledgeable salesman who listened to what i wanted, considered what i've been using and steered me in the right direction. the only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is the prices - higher than chain stores (which is to be expected, but for lower prices i'd give 5 stars). read more

The Shutterbug is like your friendly neighborhood photo store, even though it's located in the heart of downtown Portland. The employees have always been very friendly and helpful and they are willing to take the time to help you with your project. This is the first place I think of when I need photo supplies or photog tech help. read more

everyone was so lovely and patient with me. answered all of my questions and helped me load my first roll of film

Was in the Portland area hoping to pick up a DSLR *body* and wasn't having luck getting anything but a kit through the big electronics chains. Called up Shutterbug nearly at random and was told that they could have the body ordered and in the store within several hours or that if I came in before that they could takes apart a kit for me. Anyways, it went off without a hitch and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I'd come back if I was nearby! read more

The middle aged woman who works here needs to pay attention. The last time I came to this location for a charger, she gave me the wrong one and I had to go all the way back. And then today the same woman put the wrong battery on hold. Thankfully someone else noticed and fixed the problem. People come here and expect the employees to know what they are talking about, it would be nice if she could get re-trained or at least stay present enough to focus on what she's doing... read more

If I could give these guys more stars I would! I have always gotten great service at Shutterbug, but this last visit was over the top amazing! I went in with a last minute idea for a personalized mug that I needed in two days. I asked if it was possible to get it that quickly and was told by Chris that it might take longer, especially being the holidays, but he would call the lab in Salem and ask. He called the lab and they said they could get it done in a day, but there wasn't a regular delivery from the lab to that store in time. So Chris, who apparently lives in Salem and comes up to Portland to work, personally picked up my mug, and then also went to the Washington Square store to pick up a camera battery that my mom needed and brought them both back up to the downtown store! It's 11:30 the day after I went in and someone just called to let me know my mug and battery are there waiting for me with a whole day to spare before I need them! Thank you so much Chris for your exceptional service. I am absolutely blown away. Thanks to you I will have an awesome gift for my work holiday party! read more
