If I could rate this company with zero stars I would. I highly suggest you DO NOT hire The Shipping Guys. They were unprofessional, unreliable, and disrespectful. Their driver refused to deliver nearly $10,000 worth of my art to my studio address due to snow, even though there was just a few inches of snow and the roads were plowed and other large vehicles had no issues the same day the delivery was scheduled. I live in Vermont and this delivery was in late December so it's almost comical that they sent an inexperienced driver. The driver and President of the company decided it was safe to leave the packages with a stranger in a town 10 miles away without my consent. Neither of them had the decency to contact me to let me know, I found out from the stranger. The Shipping Guys completely blew me off. Thankfully the stranger delivered the items, but I was SO dismayed to see the horrible conditions the boxes were in. It was as if the delivery company completely disregarded the fragile labels and kicked the boxes around. Additionally, the President of the company, Dennis, was incredibly rude over the phone to both me and the art gallery that coordinated the shipping. The gallery said he was the hardest person they've ever had to deal with and they work with shipping companies around the world. I will NEVER hire this company and I suggest you don't as well. They have ZERO respect for the valued items they are transporting and are willing to leave belongings with random people they meet on the street. It's surprising that a company functioning in this way is still in business. I know I'm not alone with having a bad experience with this company. I needed to ship 20 boxes for a decorating client across the country from Los Angeles to Westport Ct. I found the Shipping Guys/Berklay Cargo Services through uShip online. Dennis Klainberg was fantastic and I was very impressed with his communication and follow-up. He sent a truck to pick up the boxes asap when I told what I needed. He stored the boxes for a week pending the destination address. However, the client changed the state to PA and while that sent me into a bit of a tailspin, Dennis was on it and assured me he and his team would handle it and I would be happy. He was right. I realize that shipping to/from random addresses is a bit of artistry, coordination, staffing and hope. Dennis and the Shipping Guys did not disappoint. Boxes arrived as promised and he even made calls to the storage company to ask all the questions necessary for a smooth delivery. I would use them again. read more

I have meant to write out a long review about my most recent (and most certainly my last) shipment with Berklay, but it just always seemed too exhausting. So, in the spirit of brevity, let me just say that: Dennis picked up my shipment. He lied about having it crated. He lied about it's date of departure. He lied again about it's date of departure. He forged emails from my assistant in an attempt to blame her. He stopped responding, leaving me with no clue where my $28,000 piece of art was. My client got fed up and cancelled the sale. Dennis eventually returned the piece where it had been framed. The frame was destroyed. He told my artist and the framer that it was like that when he picked it up. He then told them that I hadn't paid for the shipment. I sent them copies of the deposited check. He refused to pay for the damaged frame (my cost was $1,900). He finally offered to give me half my cost in future shipping and to take the rest of it up with my insurance agency. There's been so many problems over the years (he lost a crate for two days, leaving me two hours to install at a major art fair by press time, he damaged two crates to the point where they couldn't be reused, etc etc etc), but they are cheaper and that's always attractive to small business owners. But they are neither a trustworthy company nor are they reputable. I would hate for anyone else to get the type of service I received (after probably 20 years of business). DO NOT TRY TO SHIP WITH THIS SHADY BROKER Absolutely unprofessional. It's these types of people that you read honest nightmare reviews about. I made a post on Uship giving them one week in advance to handle logistics of shipping my motorcycle. They even proposed the exact days they wanted to pick up and deliver out of the timeframe window I provided. They were quick to secure the booking but when it came down to brass tacks and doing the actual service they are offering it's horrendous. I called them everyday from Monday 2/08 to Friday 2/12 to confirm pickup of the motorcycle. Each time I was rushed off the phone and given a response of "it will be picked up tomorrow." My friend had to take off work for 4 days because of this BS response Dennis had kept giving me. I don't understand why they couldn't have just communicated with their driver and given me an actual date of when the bike may be picked up. They even had a week to prepare for this shipment knowing full details that they need a ramp for my motorcycle. Fast forward to 02/12 (the day Dennis had proposed to deliver the bike to me) the bike still had not been picked up. Dennis calls me letting me know that the bike can be picked up in about two weeks from now. I declined this future shipping date as I don't intend to fall for their poor business practices again. If delayed with BS excuses 4 days in a row. They will do the same again. Side note on level of customer service: Dennis has ADHD or is on a lot of illegal stimulants. He is quick to get you off the phone and cannot hold a conversation without bringing up something completely irrelevant when you are inquiring about serious questions. What the hell do birds you see outside your window have to do with shipping services you are brokering? read more

Dear artists and galleries based in NYC area, I want to share my experience with Shipping Guys, LLC (BERKLAY transport, Dennis is the owner). I would hate to see anyone going through the same experience I went. I needed to ship a large painting. I repeatedly emphasized that it was crucial to deliver it by a certain date (to which Dennis repeatedly insured me that I have nothing to worry about) because afterwards the client was leaving for several months and there wouldn't be anyone to receive the painting. Dennis first rescheduled pick up date from my studio 3 times and picked it up 2 weeks later, then on the delivery deadline date I called him about the painting's whereabouts, and he kept putting me on hold saying that he's trying to reach the driver. Finally the client, who started to get nervous and didn't want to be in a situation where the painting arrives after he departs called them. Instead of saying "I'm sorry for misunderstanding on my part, let me see how we can fix this", Dennis told the collector that I never told him about the deadline and that he can't possibly meet this deadline. Needless to say, that it put unnecessary pressure on my relationship with this collector. Eventually he promised to deliver the painting that evening, at which point he continued lying, this time to the client, about the delivery time and cracking bad disrespectful jokes. The painting was eventually delivered after midnight, several hours before the flight. Afterwards I started looking for more reviews, I found several complaints about Dennis irrevocably damaging or losing artwork. If you value your artwork, nerves, and relationships with your collectors, I would strongly advise against using this service. read more

These guys are great. I've shipped dozens of times. Easily hundreds of artworks over that past 8 years. Big crates, fragile stuff, international shipments etc. I've never had anything damaged and I've always felt that I've paid a fair price. Dennis is always reachable and gets back to me fast. When you ship a lot problems come up along the route that need to be dealt with and I'm always glad I can call on Dennis and Greg to respond. I'm a professional artist and I ship a lot to fairs and clients. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Shipping Guys to anyone. read more

Let me tell you all about Dennis. Dennis is the kind of guy who gets things done with a smile. Although I never met him in person, I just know it by the way he talks! My roommate and I used his service to freight forward our boxes of stuff from New York to San Diego, and needless to say we have been stressed Out and worried about this big move. He was so helpful in the process. Since we were able to get our boxes out to the shipper, we saved on the pick up fee (which was a tip that he gave us)! Everything was handled very professionally. Dennis was very responsive to all my questions, and clearly understood all my concerns, especially with regards to shipping a number of fragile instruments. He also worked with me to get the final price of the shipment to be well below any other available option. Poor Quality of Service and Bad Value for Money Berklay Cargo Services arranged for the packing and shipping of a piece of fragile fine art from NY to the UK. I wrote to Dennis personally and asked them to ensure that because of its fragility it was packed on its back and to put fragile handle with care labels with the way up it should be carried - simple instructions you would think. No it was very poorly packed inside a crate upside down on its top and shipped without any fragile - handle with care labels on the outside of the crate. Berklay is completely reckless with its customers property and offers very poor quality of service and is extremely bad vale for money - they charged me almost $1300 to just pack and ship to Uk (extremely expensive would be an understatement) when it would have been at least half of that cost with insurance cover included if I had organised collection from the UK. I would certainly not recommend using this company read more

Sadly we shipped with Dennis from NYC to Miami for a Art Fair and going down a piece broke and going up 2 art works where damaged. A friend of mine used him to get an art work shipped to SF, same story. I would discourage anyone to use this shipper, he is not only not responding for month, he is also reckless and careless with other people property. At no moment he offered compensation, and his company is located outside NYC border so you can't get him in small claims court. One sneaky business man. read more
