ROOM 31 Large room lower ground. Room darkish being below pavement level. Window blinds need attention as cords have snapped. Large car drivers need to be aware of the limited car park entrance size as it is somewhat narrow with a height of 1.9m. Front door fob key entry was a plus ! Good Wi-Fi. In a nutshell the property in question is in need of some T.L.C. Location is good, close to centre and seafront. Breakfast was good.The two staff I spoke with were pleasant enough. Eastbourne itself is what you expect from an ageing town.The sea front is flat which was ideal for our wheelchair. Toilets available as you meander along, free at the moment, but there are barriers installed for high season use I guess. There is a choice of theatres, depending on your choice. Having stayed in a dozen or more hotels and B&B's in Eastbourne over the years, I can happily confirm that they are a mixed bag and this small hotel is amongst the best. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are all bright and very comfortable, decorated in neutral colours enlivened by attractive modern artwork. There are specious lounge areas for those who wish to meet with friends, take advantage of the free WiFi, or read in quiet, comfortable surroundings - but most of the bedrooms also have easy chairs and satellite TV. Onsite parking is provided for all guests, which is a real bonus in this part of Eastbourne. And the breakfast... well that is superb - and very generous! The sea, the shops and the theatres are all just short stroll away so, although you won't have a sea view at The Sheldon, the location is close to perfect. Stayed here recently- oct 2019- and found everything very good. The owners are very helpful, and did all they could to make my stay a Great one, even though I was there to visit a very ill relative in hospital. Lovely breakfast, very clean, warm and very comfortable bed !! One of the best things is private parking around the back, brilliant!! Would definitely recommend read more

If I could give it no stars I would.Please don't go here.They've got bedbugs in their rooms.You may have stayed here and been asleep all night and unfortunately for you, gone home with an infestation of bedbugs.You could have taken them easily on your luggage from this nasty b and b.I am posting this truthful review.I awoke in the night to find to my absolute horror, bugs crawling on the duvet right next to my face.Further investigation on internet looking at photos and comparing, confirmed that these crawling bugs were definitely bedbugs.I have been bitten in several places, especially on my face near my mouth, which made me feel so awful.This is disgusting and it is so unacceptable.I've never seen or experienced such a thing.I had my trip completely ruined.I've had to through away my bags and boil my luggage.It's difficult to prevent transferring bedbugs to ones home once you've had such misfortune to stay in a nasty uncared for b and b that has been left unchecked and is full of bedbugs.Obviously they've had it for sometime and done nothing about it and made no attempt to close down to sort this problem.They've just willy nilly let and encouraged guests to stay here knowing there's a bed bug infestation.This is very unprofessional - extremely poor - extremely uncaring about their guests - extremely unbusiness like, not the done thing, not correct protocol!!!!Allowing myself and other guests to unsuspectingly book and stay here, when the owners know they have bedbugs in their rooms, is so wrong.This place needs closing down and completely treating properly by professional bedbug pest control people.The owners have not done this.Eastbourne Environmental Health have inspected this place and further confirmed that what I encountered in this place is definitely bedbugs.Beware of ever staying here, it will cost you dear, because it will ruin your holiday, and you will then have to take strict measures to ensure you don't take live bedbugs and bedbug eggs to your nice clean bedrooms in your own homes.I witnessed and subsequently photographed bedbugs crawling on the bed and crawling on the carpet heading underneath the bed when I shone my mobile phone flashlight.This is a true review.The Sheldon b and b Burlington Place, Eastbourne has got a bedbug infestation and they have allowed guests to stay there knowing this and they have not got professional pest control in to deal with the bedbug problem properly.Please be warned to never stay at this terrible place.If you did stay here, check your bedrooms at night to see if you've transferred bedbugs from this dreadful b and b to your bedrooms at home.It would only take one bed bug or one bedbug egg to cause an infestation of thousands of bedbugs, which you'd have to get professional pest controllers to eliminate.You'd be bitten by bedbugs and have bedbugs sucking on your blood whilst asleep every night.Please read my honest review and please avoid Sheldon!!!!! read more
