Prior to meeting Christy, my family and I didn't feel like we had many resources to depend on. For many years, raising a child with special needs felt like something we just had to figure out on our own. After meeting Christy and telling her about Nathan, we have learned so much about how to actually help him. We have learned how to navigate the school system, how to maximize our resources, how to better communicate with him in a way HE understands, how to handle all his paperwork as he nears adulthood, and so much more. Unlike so many others in the past, Christy has always treated us and Nathan with respect. From the jump she has been very patient with us and has taken the time to guide us step by step through every obstacle. She is passionate about her work, knowledgable about the school and legal system, dedicated to her mission, and wonderfully reliable. If you have any doubt in your mind that you are not doing the best for your child, I highly recommend setting up a meeting with her, even just to talk. She has been nothing but helpful and supportive of my family and we are all super grateful for her work!

In the 1st grade, our son was having difficulty. The teacher thought he was possibly dyslexic. She…read morehad the Dyslexic specialist in the public school look at his work. His grades were too high for him to qualify to be tested for services. We decided to have him privately tested April 2012. We had heard excellent things about Effie and the staff at Thinkers. My mom used to work with a Speech Pathologist and she administered testing to children. The testing process was very familiar to her. We were all blown away by how extensive the testing was with Thinkers and how accurate the results were. In one hour, Effie determined that our son was 1 1/2 years ahead in his visual learning and 1 1/2 years behind in his auditory learning. That explained the gap the teachers were seeing at school in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade with Z's ability to memorize the spelling list but not be able to sound words out. We knew this gap would continue to grow if we did not do something about it. Z began tutoring at Thinkers in June 2012 and continued off and on until March 2014. He completed Interactive Metronome, several lessons in PACE and the first 2 books in Master the Code. We immediately saw results. Not only was his confidence lifted but his reading, reading comprehension and spelling all improved. He is now making all A's in the 4th grade and reading well on his own. Z worked very hard and we have Effie, Debbie and the staff at Thinkers to thank for this success story! We are forever grateful for the time they spent with our son.
