This place has amazing food and awesome people that own and work there! Highly recommend!

This place is a dive. It's been around since 1943, that's 81 years if your wondering. Back in the day when the textile mills were spinning and Carolina Motor Freight was trucking, this was 'the place'. If you drive by this place, you would swear its' closed. Even when it's open, the neon 'open' sign does not even light up. It used to be a 'sit down' restaurant but since COVID it's take out only. The exception is if you are a local law enforcement officer. They don't even serve milk shakes anymore. Yet somehow, people come from far and wide to get a Lottaburger. To be honest, it's really not even that great of a burger. They add slaw and a pickle and you can't leave it off because they don't do special orders and that is considered a special order. Leave your plastic and your apps in your vehicle, it's CASH and carry only. If you go, call ahead and order, otherwise on a busy day you'll wait for 20 minutes. A word of advice, if it's Friday at 5p. just forget about it and go to McD's down the street. read more

Awesome food! Try the Grilled Cheese (on a bun with slaw, tomato, & pickle) and the BBQ sandwich (same toppings) omg! I have been eating here since I was a child! (1982) and it has ALWAYS been a FAVORITE of my family! My grandpa grew up in the area, many of his 14 siblings that remained there, so every Saturday(they were open Sat. then) him and I would go visit one of them, then go by THE SHAKE SHOP otw home, for a HUGE to go order!!! Often times they thought our huge to-go order was a prank bc it was huge! Like 40 grilled cheese- 25 bbq- 10- CB!!! Once we told them the name, they'd have it READY when we got there!!! Awesome service ALWAYS! I have GREAT memories of this small family restaurant, and the atmosphere is continually the SAME! Small town friendly and awesome food! Who could ask for more!?!? read more

I have been coming here for years since I grew up pretty close by. The hamburgers are the best around. It's such a local dive and I love that. And when they are packed they are packed. Sometimes hard to get a seat. I recommend calling your food in ahead of time and crossing your fingers for a table! But totally worth it. Also the most delicious cherry lemon sundrops!! read more

Best burger place in eastern part of North Carolina. I grew up eating the Lotta Burger, raised my two daughters eating the Lotta Burger, now my daughter is carrying on the tradition of raising her son eating Lotta Burgers (which he actually shares with his mom since he's 3 LOL! ) ! Now that my daughters live in Tennessee and Arizona they still have to make one of the places to visit when in town....The Shake Shop! Best way to have it is Lotta Burger with cheese, slaw, tomato, and pickles accompanied by a Pink Lady drink (Cherry/Lemon/Sundrop). My mouth salivates just talking about it! LOL! Great family environment, family ran business, always service with a smile! You just need to try it it once you'll be hooked for life! LOL! read more

Our State magazine featured the Shake Shop on its cover about NC's hole-in-the-wall restaurants. That drew us to this longtime Cherryville drive-in. What did we think? My wife now ranks the Lottaburger among her favorites anywhere. She puts salt on everything and said the Shake Shop lottaburger needed no salt. My regular cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, delicious and not too big or too small. The onion rings had flavor, crunch and no dripping grease! And the handmade cherry lemon Sundrop was a nice addition. Clean inside but little seating; full by 11:30 on a Saturday. Call ahead to be sure hours correct. The Facebook page has different hours. Oh, and bring cash. No cards. We'll visit again! read more

So I went here assuming I could get a shake but they apparently stopped making them a while ago but kept the name. After that disappointment, I decided to give them a chance anyway. We ordered a couple burgers and fries to go. While we waited for the food, the locals could not say enough about how good it would be and let me tell you we waited 40 minutes at least. Once we got the food and got back to our son's ballgame, we found out why. These burgers were amazing. I don't even know if amazing does it justice. It was clear as we consumed our burgers why this place is so darn popular. Only advice I have is to call ahead. Most people do to avoid the wait. If you don't call ahead be prepared to wait but it will still be worth it. Outstanding!! read more

This is a local restaurant that has been around for 50+ years. My parents grew up on it and so have I. The people are really nice. If you're looking for a great place to get a great burger, this is the place! Order a Lotta Burger with everything and get a Pink Lady to drink. Very filling. This is a hole in the wall restaurant, but it's places like these that produce the best food. Good luck finding a seat. Excellent! We went on a Saturday during lunch. The place was pretty crowded, but that was ok. Order at the counter, and when a seat is available they will seat you. Took a little while to get the food, but that gave you time to soak in the atmosphere of the place. Once the food arrived, it was great! They are known for their Cherry Lemon Sundrop and the Lottaburger. Had both, and was not disappointed! Great food, great service. read more

This place is sooooo laid back that they are called "The Shake Shop", but have not served ice cream or shakes for at least 10 years. And they tell us visitors this info with a smile on their faces. Bait and Switch all the way. I mean the food really smells good, and we would have eaten there if we were not with a 5 year old who only want a milk shake. I give 3 stars for being funny. read more

Hands down the best lotta burger basket ever! The Shake Shop has been around a long time and for good reason. They have great food that is hard to beat. It is tradition to go here when we have family and friends come in from out of town, they all miss it when they leave! My family has never been dissapointed in the service or food and we have been coming here for over 25 years so kuddos to the staff! I went there because I wanted to order a milkshake. The name is the "Shake" shop right? I was pretty disappointed to learn that they don't even have milkshakes or ice cream! They were happy to show me the old fashioned machine on the counter that they used to make milkshakes with years ago....wth?! The food was ok but it just wasn't what I had expected. If a business is going to have something in their name that they don't even offer, that's pretty poor marketing in my opinion & disappointing to new customers. read more

The BEST lotta burgers in all of the land! Down home, everyone knows everybody by name. The staff is like family, when I call in an order they already know what I want by name. Homemade Cherry Lemon Sundrops, hotdogs, cheeseburgers... I can not say enough good things about this place. I've been eating delicious cheeseburgers from the Shake Shop since I was tiny. My parents grew up eating there. Nothing has changed and that's the way we like it. If you're ever anywhere near Cherryville, NC, stop in at the Shake Shop. You won't be disappointed! read more
