For a few weeks now, I've been searching online for info about what's out there for window treatments. I stumbled upon the Shade Store and discovered there was a location in Paramus within the PDC shopping plaza. So I visited the Shade Store last Thursday to check out their samples. While I walked into the store with a few questions in mind, this is not my world so I probably looked so out of place and clueless. Despite this, a woman named Marcie helped me out. She answered my questions, and showed me the blinds and shades on display and the explained different pulley, roller, and motorized systems available. She also handed me their style catalog "IN VIEW" - which, along with all the photos I snapped at the store, has been helpful and very inspirational as I'm figuring out what direction I want to take. I'm still in a reconnaissance phase, but if I go the custom and not-DIY route, the Shade Store would be one of my top vendor picks. read more

She worked with us through a few iterations of pricing, and helped us with scheduling for measuring and install. The sales lady was ambivalent and unhelpful. The quality of the shades seemed poor quality and I was told by a friend who used them that the installation was poor and had to be redone. We used another company and were very happy. read more

It was a pleasure working with Elise Abrams. I highly recommend asking for Elise to help you with your window treatment needs at the Paramus Design Center. Her customer service focus was amazing - so helpful and responsive to all of my questions. More importantly, Elise was instrumental in resolving a particularly difficult issue with my window shade needs. She was determined to reach a satisfactory solution and went above and beyond to accomplish this. Elise knows how to deliver for her customers! The installation of my new shades went very smoothly and they look fantastic. The technician seemed very knowledgeable and did an excellent job making minor adjustments to the placement of the brackets so the shades would hang just right. The newer style motors and remote controls are also very nice - the motors are much quieter and the remotes so much easier to use! read more

I had struggled for years with choosing window treatments for my first floor. I had no idea what would look good, what was current, what would hold up to my dogs. So I walked into The Shade Store and Amy immediately gave me great ideas. I brought samples home, picked out the colors, emailed the colors to Amy. The measurement appointment was scheduled for the upcoming week. No issues there. The shades and blinds were ordered, they arrived, and the window treatments were installed within two weeks of the measurement appointment. They're good quality, they look great. I liked that everything was included in the price. Of course, I could have gotten window treatments somewhere else for less money, but the convenience of shopping at The Shade Store, the great customer service, the quality product and perfect installation made the price worth it to me. And most importantly, it was easy and took very little time! I will definitely go back for my second floor when the time comes. read more

Came out to measure several times and never followed up with pricing or options...What's the point?

From the start everything seemed to be going great, someone came out to our house to take measurements and I came in to the Paramus store a today , to pick out shades and get help. The women we been emailing back and forth with was busy with another customer, no problem, so she handed us off to another sales associate. She just seemed like she didn't wanna help us, I was so confused on all the types of shades and what I needed, she was like a zombie. My husband who NEVEar gets upset was finally like, are you going to help us??? It's like she didn't want to help or make the sale maybe. I'll spend my thousands with a different company. I have made many large window treatment purchases in the past from a premium boutique store and decided to try Shade Store because of the convenient location. Big mistake - I don't know how anyone is able to purchase anything from this store. You have to follow up on every email in order to get a response. Sometimes waiting as long as two weeks with no response. Then, even after measurements are done and fabric is selected, and following up once again by email, pricing was never sent. I'm ok with premium pricing as long as the service matches, but this was like pulling teeth. I felt like I was begging the associate to take my money. read more

From our first email to our meeting-- scheduling an appointment, choosing fabric, scheduling, installing...FIRST RATE! Amy was our contact and she was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and available! She kept us informed of delivery and installation dates. She was always on top of everything. My entire experience with The Shade Store in Closter and associate Marcie Mann have been outstanding! I just replaced every window in my house and was really overwhelmed about where to start. Marcie offered so many amazing suggestions, taking into account the specifics about the room (i.e. would the treatment be usually closed - first floor powder room) and provided me with incredible products that combined function and design for the perfect final product. My house is truly transformed! Scheduling appointments and installation were just as amazing. The ease of the online appointments, even when I had to change appointments couldn't have been easier. I was very excited to get some new curtains for our bedroom as my husband and I renovate our home. We went out of our way to get to this location because we really wanted something custom. From the second my husband and I walked in the sales service was terrible. It's as if the sales person didn't want to sell us anything. She was rude, dismissive and not helpful at all. This is an impressive store, but if you don't live close they will ship samples. I like being able to see the product once I pick & having a knowledgeable rep. I've been dealing with Maggie from The Shade Store for 2 years now. She's knowledgeable, patient & an amazing person. The shade store truly sells quality items at fair prices. I've gotten shades from the SoHo location in the past and was very pleased when they opened a store in NJ. I've recently ordered drapes, roman shades, and cordless roller shades with the help of Marcie in Paramus.
