I was excited to see a retail store. The shirts always have unique, happy designs. I started buying them for myself (cross, and heart appliques) and love what they offer for children. Since I'm a boy mom it's hard to find cute, little boy clothes without being to "sissy." These t's are perfect. I get my three year old one for every season (pumpkin for Halloween, Christmas, Easter etc.) They are also fun for birthday t-shirts.

Although the shop itself is cute, they have a ridiculously small amount of fabric (maybe 15-20…read morebolts)! If you're within a mile or so of the store it might be worth visiting, but I wouldn't recommend driving farther than that. When I'm traveling, I like to visit quilt shops in different cities, and don't mind driving a bit out of my way when the shop is a good one. However, today I was on my way to Alabama and drove over 15 miles, one way, out of my way to visit this store and it was a complete waste of time and gas.

I needed fabric to recover some antique chairs, and I found the perfect pattern here. The salesperson was very nice, but I did have to wait a little while for someone to assist me. The store was very busy that day, though, so I was patient to wait my turn. They also have a nice selection of ready-made draperies and rods, although I hesitate to buy anything very pricey until my kids are old enough not to spill grape juice all over them. I didn't see alot of fabric that could be used for kids' room, and I did have my eye out for some colorful gingham. All in all, though, a great store, and one I'll be visiting again.

I turned her on to Carter's a long time ago and it's still one of the best places in town to get fabric and craft needs. It opened back in 1988 and I have stopped in a couple times over the years just to look around. There are so many big round bolts of material head high and on many aisles. There is one other fabric store that might be able to compete with Carter's on pricing but I guess it comes down to the amount of variety in the designs and prints available for your needs at the time.
