Our time at Urban Table was marked with highs and lows leaving me with mixed feelings…read more Pros: -CocoCrunch shrimp were good, perfectly fried, and the shrimp were a wonderful texture. The sauce they compared with was also delicious -Brussels sprouts were crispy and had a nice char -our waitress was the only person on the floor while simultaneously managing the bar. She was trying her best to keep everything afloat during lunch and was very sweet. Neutrals: -the margarita I ordered with mezcal was fine. It tasted like it had a premade sweet and sour mix. -the chicken Parmesan sandwich my husband got was nothing to write home about but was exactly as described. His sweet potato fries were also generically good. Cons: -the restaurant didn't appear to be too clean. The floor was a bit dingy and there was visible food debris on it. -I was served water in a glass where the rim had a brown syrup like liquid on the rim. Not sure if that was from a past drink or perhaps soda syrup? -the basil in my husband's drink was very unappealing. I know basil can be a finicky herb, but putting it on display in his cocktail was off putting. He removed it immediately. -having only one staff member tending to lunch seemed odd. Considering the building is two stories, I believe she was having to leave to potentially go downstairs to retrieve food. There were multiple times no one was upstairs. We felt uncomfortable asking for anything because we didn't want to overwhelm someone just trying to keep their head above water. Overall, I wish the best for the establishment.

So the actual restaurant area is pretty small with limited seating. The inside was quaint and clean. Service was on-time and friendly. I got the give a dog a bone drink which is a sazerac that had dominant flavors in citrus so it wasn't too bitter. Started off the meal splitting a side Cobb salad which had candied bacon, deviled egg and avocado with buttermilk dressing. Our 2 main were the chicken fried steak and the black truffle sacchetti pasta. The CFS was good, well-seasoned and had good breading. But the size was a lot smaller than expected. Definitely not a shareable dish. Came with typical green beans and mashed potatoes. The black truffle sacchetti pasta was great! Sacchetti pasta is cheese stuffed pasta. The black truffle wasn't overwhelming, yet noticeable. And came with decent amount of grilled chicken. Very creamy and cheesy dish- this was shareable. Overall a great meal and we left stuffed.

The hotel is attractive with a lot of fun, unique design touches. Everyone on staff was very kind…read more Things get a little messy in the details, when you look closely. Bathroom tile desperately needed a good scrub. The black grout hides the fact that it's covered in mold when you touch it. Whole bathroom needed a serious deep clean. Sheets had holes in them. Crazy to me that housekeeping had to see that and just went on! Coffee maker not working. Waters not restocked in room. A few housekeeping tweeks and this could be awesome.

We checked in for our retreat in the hotel lobby. The hotel is located in an area with lots of retail shops and restaurants. The parking was not ideal and most of the garage spots were filled. The hotel pool is out in the center of a communal area with all the restaurants so not a lot of privacy there. The hotel did an amazing job at hosting our retreat. We used the Statesman room that had many tables and chairs to accommodate our group of 100+. We had breakfast in this area as well as our Roaring 20s evening where I had the best prime rib spread that I had ever experienced. The prime rib was prepared to perfection and served buffet style with au jus and horseradish sauce. There were also fresh veggies served including carrots, green beans and broccoli and they were prepared Al dente style just how I like them. There was a potato bar where you could build your own loaded mashed potatoes. We received 2 drink tickets where we could choose from a variety of beverages including beer, wine or cocktails. I had two pineapple margaritas. There were also many flavors of cupcakes served for dessert. The best part of the hotel were these ceramic sheep decorations that the Beef Team enjoyed posing with and moving them to various locations around the hotel for photo purposes. It made for a good source of entertainment. Overall thought the George Hotel did an excellent job at hosting our Beef Team retreat.

The hotel itself? Relatively nice. Good location, attractive rooms, interesting vibe. Under…read moredifferent circumstances, I'd probably give it 3 or 4 stars for the physical property alone. But here's the thing--when something goes wrong at a hotel and they make you a promise to fix it, they should actually fix it. That hasn't been our experience here. In 2023 we had some legitimate issues, such as there was a minibar charge made on our account when we didn't use the minibar, restaurant service that was frustratingly slow, a broken light in our balcony. When I wrote about it, management responded by offering us a free night--in writing, no conditions mentioned. We said 'thanks, we'll take you up on it when we're back in town.' Fast forward to now. Every time we we've tried to use it, something new comes up. The examples below are ones I can document (there were other verbal conversations I can't full reconstruct): * First it was football weekends (which, fair enough--but that was never mentioned when they made the offer) * Then a separate "special event" exclusion got invented when a non-football event came to town for a date we were interested in * Then I picked a date off their own list of available dates offered by one of their managers, and I was told now all the sudden there's actually a two-night minimum--after the had urged me to pick something quickly and I responded the same evening (within 90 minutes) * Then a dinner gift card that was offered in writing got pulled back a week later * Then they asked for a certificate number--there was never any certificate issued; the original offer was just 'let me know and I'll book you in' One of their managers actually admitted in writing that the restrictions were never explained upfront. And still--no confirmed booking as of April 2026. I've got the whole email chain if anyone doubts any of this. I'll update the review if they actually come through. Haven't been able to hold my breath that long yet.

We had beef or chicken fajitas with all the fixings. Dessert was mini churros with strawberry, caramel, chocolate and whipped cream for dipping along w/ cupcakes. Everything was delicious.
