Then we traveled throughout Vineyards to go through Bartholomew park and back to the Square. We had an olive oil tasting at Figone's on the plaza which was delicious. Then was lectured about not using the test ride as a way to use the bike as a free day rental. The gentleman had an obstructionist attitude, throwing obstacles in the way of my simple goal of seeing what bike size best fit me. I've never been treated so poorly by a business. After suffering this, I stopped everything. Canceled the test ride. Put down the tail bag purchase. I told the 2 employees what I saw happening and how I wasn't going to tolerate it. Walked out and wished them a great rest of the day. The attitude towards my business and myself was appalling. I ended up buying a bike elsewhere.

American Canyon Bike Shop is one of those magical family owned small businesses that should exist…read moreon every street corner in America, but don't anymore. Luckily for the residents of American Canyon and surrounding communities, Julia and Steve do exist, and they provide attentive service with a surprisingly large selection. They are a husband-and-wife duo who both have medical/physiotherapy backgrounds. Accordingly, their passion for cycling extends beyond the bike itself and into ensuring that you'll get the most out of that bike from a health standpoint. I came in to buy an e-bike and left knowing that I purchased not only an e-bike, but a connection to a business that will provide great service on that bike for years to come. I called ahead to see if they carried the Urtopia Carbon Fold 2 and, luckily, they did. When I arrived later that day, Julia and Steve greeted me, remembered who I was, and let me try out the bike for as long as I needed to ensure it was the right fit. They even had a demo helmet that fit my comically oversized head! In a world of impersonal Amazon doorstep deliveries, a place where you can actually try out and ask questions about the expensive purchase you are about to make goes a long way. Better yet, I didn't spend a dime more than I would have online. In short, before you hit 'Buy it Now' on Amazon and wait impatiently for the 'thunk' of the package outside your front door, give American Canyon Bike Shop a call and see what they can do for you.

I went downtown a few weeks ago and saw they were closed. I texted Geoffrey and found out they operate by appt only since he's a one man show. I made an appt online for 6/20. Went in and tested the Workman Trike and the low rider trike (with a seat like a beach chair). I liked the look of the Workman Trike better because I wanted the "bike" look as well as being able to sit tall. I also liked the basket in the back. This particular trike is not your normal kids trike. This one it's made by Workman which is the oldest bike manufacturer in the US since 1898. They make both industrial and recreation bikes. It's a sturdy little bike and I am very happy with it! Maybe I can work my way up to riding a 2 wheel bike one day. If not, I'm happy with this bike just to work out. I will try to find a way to fit it in the Prius. It does fold but just barely fits when closing the hatchback. We will try different positions and see if we can make it work. Otherwise, loving my new bike. I highly recommend Geoffrey at Bike Partners. He even delivered my bike the same day since I couldn't drive it home.

I let it go and agreed to keep the 11-1 window, rearranging my work schedule to be available. No one showed up. At 1:30 PM, I had to call my wife to let her know, and she followed up with Velofix -- only to be told the case had been closed because the service was "out of scope." No one informed me. I was literally on the phone with them that same morning and they said nothing about not coming. This whole experience showed a complete lack of communication and disregard for people's time.
