The Semaphore Pantry operates to bring great home cooking right to your table. It's tagline, "Takeaway the difference" is a clever way to describe a business that sells takeaway meals, all cooked by the resident chef.
The chef also runs cooking classes to share his skills and secrets, which I think is a great addition to the concept of this business.
The only drawback are the prices which range from $13 for a one person serving of vegetarian lasagna, up to $17 for the smoked Atlantic salmon with mash, zucchini, snow peas and balsamic glaze.
While it's a nice idea, they're not difficult meals to make yourself. Also, if you're going to pay these prices, you can just go out for dinner and leave the mess for someone else to clean up.

The Pantry also sells "pouch meals" which are meal toppings to go on rice, like Thai chicken curry and chilli con carne. These are $8 to $11 for a single serve, which is again an awful lot. No matter how high the quality, I'm not sure such simple meals would be worth this. read more
