Why didn't I go for one of the other dogs with more adventurous toppings? I may be a tubby be-atch, but there is no way I am pay $8+ for a friggin hotdog! They also have wings etc. on the menu, but the hotdog put a big enough dent in my wallet. The store has so much potential and whilst the hotdogs were ok, as the highlight of their menu and whole eating establishment, I thought they would be better than they were. The process is sort of like Subway for hotdogs and they let you pick the kind of bread you want and offer three different kind of hotdogs including Kransky. They also offer a range of other food including tacos and nachos and a dessert range with some really yummy looking cupcakes. I think it is a really good idea, different from most other places in Adelaide - and owned by a 36'er player, you know it has true American influences.

I also tried chips and gravy (I had fond memories) and a friend got some hot chips. $6.50 and $4.50 respectively. Unfortunately I wouldn't get them again. The gravy was really yum, but the chips were no good: not cooked enough and lots of oily little remnants rather than whole chips. Shame really. Your neighbourhood chicken shop should be three things: fast, cheap and tasty. I could only really give them solid points for fast and friendly service.

I've been here a few times now and always had really good service from the cashiers, the place has been quite clean (including the toilets!) and I've enjoyed myself. The food isn;t really going to differ in quality or taste much from one Macca's to the next and so it is the atmosphere and the staff which make the experience a stand out one. Here at Port Adelaide, they have done that very well indeed!

We waltzed in to Yummy Banh Mi which was pretty much next door and saw the little plastic containers lined up with cold rolls. My son ordered the combination cold rolls and $5 later we walked on out. When we got home to eat them, the rice paper was falling to pieces and most of the contents fell out. Arghhh what a crisis!! Lucky for him Super Mum came to the rescue! I always have rice paper sheets at home as I often make cold rolls, so I fixed them up for him. What a disappointment though. Each cold roll had their portion of meat, lettuce and rice vermicelli.....where were some garlic chives, some mint or coriander? each bite tasted like lettuce. That was it. The meat was bland and had no flavour. The prawn cold roll was ONE small prawn cut in half, I barely noticed it among the sea of lettuce. Thank goodness for the dipping sauce to give them some flavour. I really hope that their banh mi is better because I would not go for their cold rolls again.

It's only a stones throw from where I live and it killed me almost when I moved interstate a couple times as I couldn't find anything close that compared. Such a huge range of seafood!! From whole fish, that if you wanted gutted or filleted they'll do it for you and also will hand you the scrappy offcuts so you can make stock or whatever. No mess in your own kitchen, you beauty!! They also have a huge range of crustaceans and shellfish and all the iddy biddy bits like oysters, mussels and scallops. Not to mention all the different sized octopus and squids. One part I wish I could throw myself over and allow my skin to take over the aroma is the smoked fish!!! I freaking love smoked fish!!! I grew up on it as my Popsie always got some for Easter and Christmas. My parents also smoked our catches (usually Tommies) when we were kids. It was from then that stemmed my smoked fish addiction. All of their fish (apart from the smoked sliced salmon, I think!) is smoked on premises. You know this place is fresh when you see the workers out the back doing the sorting/filleting etc. However, there are a few fish that obviously gets imported but they label that to let consumers know. I'm off now to make a delicious seafood chowder and oysters Kilpatrick using what I bought today for my hubby's valentine's day meal. Yep I'm a good wifey!
