So after struggling to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the berbs, I did have high expectations for this gem. Although the street appeal probably isn't anything to woo at, and inside is a tad bit dated, yet is still humble in a family restaurant kind of way. I feel it may have been the owners who were working the front of house, and they were both lovely. They clearly have been in the business a while and did a good job and making us feel comfortable, and giving us a little giggle as well. The menu had heaps of choose from. Seemed as if there were a few extra options compared to other basic Chinese restaurants, including a traditional and western dessert menu. I had the Chicken Satay dish off the chef special menu. It was amazing. The sauce was flavoursome and certainly didn't seem like out of a jar type of thing. It was served with broccoli pieces as well as a little burning flame in the middle of the plate. My partner had the Sizzling Steak Mongolian style dish and the pieces were tender and juicy, with lovely sweet and tangy Mongolian flavours through-out. The plate was also served with vegetables. I love this place. It's my new found gem. I've been searching a while for a nice place to grab some quality Chinese food, and I think I've found my stop. This place isn't anything designer or high-end perhaps, but it still possess a charming old-school look and humble home-style meals, which is something I look when dining at Asian restaurants in the berbs.

Some places around are real expensive, and honestly they all serve the same thing of a similar quality. It's not the nicest dining area in the food court, but at least it's a little quieter than other's and the crowd is alright. But secretly I really do love this Asian restaurant too. The fried rice is amazing (why can't I ever replicate good fried rice at home?!), and so is the meat dishes. But no complaints about this place, I've never gotten sick, always had the right meal and entrees, never had a chicken foot or finger nail in my food and the service has always been great and friendly!

Conveniently located ever so close to my house, I always go here for pure Chinese takeaway, although they do have some competition now in the same building with Red Box which is coming up my favourites list. But the people who work here are lovely and know most regular customers by name and ask you how you are going. Their restaurant is very cute, quite old and alright for dining in, but I prefer to share and eat at home. There is a big fish tank to keep you amused while you wait, if you have to. And they always throw in a bunch of prawn crackers, yum!

Asking which of the dishes were specialty of the house, I was guided to pork rice noodle or pho. Chose the pho and was soon swooning. It is all about the stock and this was just perfect, light and beefy with a beautiful breath of anise. Adding the Thai basil, lime, coriander, diced chilli and bean sprouts it was gorgeous albeit the broad rice noodles are a bit slippery. The beef was pink, delicate and generous. As pho goes, it was up among the best. My companion had the Laksa which was also exceptionally good. Not too heavy. A trace of sweetness and a tiny ting of sour. Lots of goodies in among the noodles. He said it was the best he's had. No wonder the place is doing a roaring trade.

Perched upon a small hill on North East Road at the intersection of Grand Junction, the location is perfect and you always notice the restaurant from either side of the road as you drive past. Inside is furnished very nice, with lots of large tables for groups, benches and dark wooden tones. The food is a variety of different Asian flavours with stir fry's, curries, entrees, some Indian influences and noodle bowl dishes. At lunch time they offer noodle specials which are good value and quite decent serves (you sit on a long communal table). The only slight drawbacks I have is that my friend LOVED a noodle dish, and we went there for dinner, and couldn't get served that same noodle dish in the restaurant. It's just not allowed apparently, which I find a bit silly. She was willing to pay more as well! Also, mixed reports around the service which at times can be overwhelming, and other times underwhelming. Not withstanding these points, the food is really delicious and fresh. My pick for tasty lunches, delicious dinners and takeaway that's a cut above the rest in this area.
