My husband and I have eaten ice cream at The Scoop about 4 times in the past 3 weeks...we love this place! We stopped by The Scoop a couple months ago after shopping at Blue Mercury and figured we try it out. I'm very basic when it comes to my ice cream flavors, I always get strawberry or cookies and cream...but these flavors can taste mediocre at other ice cream shops but not at The Scoop! The strawberry ice cream has the right amount of sweetness and you can definitely taste the strawberry. The cookies and cream is very creamy and not chalky like other ice cream shops. The staff are extremely kind and patient when you want to sample various flavors. The establishment is very clean and theres seating outside since tables inside are limited. I feel the prices are very reasonable considering the quality and amount of ice cream you get! We will definitely be back again soon! read more

The ice cream itself is tasty and creamy, not overly sweet, and there is a good selection of uncommon flavors. The prices are VERY HIGH for the amount you get. Easily my new favorite ice cream spot!! The Scoop is located in Cabin John, where Baskin and Robbins used to be. They have a vast variety of flavors with an Asian spin which I LOVE. We've gotten pints to go (pre-packed, in the refrigerator to the back of the store) and of course, many other scoops to try the different flavor creations. My favorite so far has to be the pandan coconut, ube honeycomb and cookie butter! It seems like they have new flavors every month, meaning, it for sure will only continue to grow in popularity as we reach the warm summer months. read more

One of my favorite ice cream places in the DMV area. They have so many unique flavors and a good variety to choose from. I had their pistachio, chocolate, cookie butter, apple pie, butter pecan, maple walnut, and berry cheesecake - all were delicious. You can taste test any flavor you like. I like that Scoop's sweetness level is not super sugary like other ice cream shops that are overly sweet. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be something special. First the space itself is very clean and inviting and I was urged to try some samples, which I happily obliged. The textures the ice creams have is very satisfying, it's that smoothness and the creaminess without the gummy feeling some places will have. I ended up getting a scoop of honey almond (again, good flavor, lots of almonds) and also a scoop of roasted soy bean. I love the roasted soybean variation, nutty, toasty, creamy, and not too sweet. Absolutely amazing ice cream. Had the bourbon toffee crunch, and it was the absolute perfect balance of bourbon flavor to toffee/ice cream. Highly recommend. The Scoop has exotic and gourmet flavors you won't find anywhere else. Ube Honeycomb? Sign me up. Injeolmi (Korean rice cake)? Wow, are you kidding me? I'll give it a go. Baklava? My dream come true. Thai ice tea? Bring it on. It's about time an ice cream shop made all of these flavors. Even the more standard fare (e.g., peach cobbler) is delicious because of the quality of their ingredients. The owner/worker told me they put actual pie in the ice cream. Other ice cream shops might skimp by using artificial peach flavor, but not The Scoop. So glad to have this ice cream shop in our area. Great ice cream, clean and creative tastes, helpful staff, and a pristine interior for people like me who hate germs. It's really a welcome change to see a small local business here instead of the same old chains I can visit anywhere else in the state. As someone who's gotten more sensitive to artificial additives, I can definitely taste the difference between The Scoop's products and any other major ice cream brand that's laden with a bunch of unnecessary chemicals. I also like that the ice cream doesn't make me feel heavy or bloated after eating it. I'm surprised to find myself craving their ice cream since the day I first tried it because I rarely crave any sort of dessert, but I can't wait to return and get myself some pints of their Blue Moon and Ube flavors. I'm also looking forward to seeing their future menu offerings as they frequently rotate their products. If I had to nitpick anything, I think that their marketing and social media presence could use some work, but that's just because I don't think I would've heard of this place if I didn't frequent Cabin John Mall, and I'm hoping they'll stay in business forever! read more

This is our favorite ice cream shop! Parking is convenient in cabin John village. We recently went on a busy Friday night. The line was long but they had four employees so it moved along quickly. There's seating inside and outside, the vibe is fun and light. There are several flavors to choose from. We had the salted caramel latte, chocolate brownie and cotton candy.
