Situated in a very small village in a particularly beautiful area of the Lake District The Sawrey Hotel is worth dropping into for two reasons - first off, it's a good pub, serving local beers and with excellent views over the rolling hills from its beer garden - secondly, it's got that rarest of things these days a dartboard well two dartboards actually which means that, when you're not admiring the views, you can while away many hours.
There are mixed reviews about the rooms and the food on other sites but for a pub stop it's definitely worth the visit. Oh, and right behind the pub is the start of one of the area's best walks up to Moss Eccles Tarn and beyond. read more
