I booked a 60-min massage with Paula and it was incredible! She was attentive to the type of pressure I wanted, and worked out all of my knots. This was very much needed after a few days of skiing, and post-massage, I was in better shape than ever when back on the mountain the next day. On a recent get away to Lake Tahoe, I was looking for a massage place online. I came across The Sanctuary and seeing that it had all five stars made me a bit skeptical. However, my body was in desperate need of a massage and they were able to fit me and my husband in for 90 minute massages. Well oh my goodness.....we both received wonderful, deep tissue massages that were so good that we went back two days later for another massage. I had two different therapists. They were both amazing and gave the best massages I have had in a long time. Each therapist had their own style of music which was a nice change of pace. The studio itself has several massage rooms, is very clean and welcoming, A yoga studio is also located in the same space. I will most certainly be back and highly recommend Denisa and Belle. I've been searching for the past two years for the perfect massage therapist in the Basin and I've finally found her at The Sanctuary! Linda is incredibly knowledgeable in her practice and I merely mentioned a pain I'd been experiencing in my neck and she found it within moments and worked it out thoroughly on both sides. She is exceptionally skilled in deep tissue work but also reflects a solid knowing of Swedish massage techniques resulting in the ultimate relaxation. She also exhibited excellent draping skills and ensured my feet were tucked in for comfort at all times. I've had the pleasure of working with hundreds of therapists in my work life as the Operations Manager for a massage spa with two locations in Marin County and Linda is right up there with my VERY FAVORITE therapist of all time! Here's the scenario! Im on vacation for a 6 day snowboarding trip with my buddies. A huge blizzard hit squaw valley which brought two epic powder days! Day two i caught a gnarly edge off a cliff and I tomahawked down the face of the mountain and ending up tweaked my hip and leg pretty bad. Day 3 i could hardly walk so I took the day off and scheduled an appointment at The Sanctuary for some massage therapy! The staff was super nice and the business was very well maintained and clean! I had a 90min session with Liesbet, she was super friendly and skilled in massage therapy. She targeted the areas near my hip and leg that was strained and at the end of the session stretched me out while using some pressure points. I am trying to plan a trip back to Tahoe just so I can work with Linda again! My boyfriend and I were referred to Linda and Kris for massages by a friend of Kris's. They were the perfect fit for us each; both very professional and in good spirits with healthy vibes. My boyfriend loved chatting with Kris through their session, he is a talker and loves to make people laugh so it sounds like they enjoyed each other's company; he also really liked the massage as well, he has only had a few and said it was his best yet! Although I practice body/healing work myself, it's very hard for me to relax when getting massages. Linda's hands were incredible and she taught me how to use my healing powers on myself to open us my muscles and relax. It was amazing and I learned some things from her as well! I fell in love with the practice of yoga because of the classes I attended at the Sanctuary! I hope you went "whoa" because it's nothing short of the truth. As soon as you walk in, you feel the warmth and your soul immediately becomes at peace. It's a feeling that is hard to explain but the energy in the yoga room is unreal and inviting. I purchased the Local's First timer pass so I spent the month flowing, exploring my heart, and learning about myself. The instructors here are so passionate about their practice that it radiates onto their students. More times than not, I found myself crying during Shavasana because the instructors evoked an emotion out of me that I couldn't remember I had. It was beautiful. Unfortunately, the classes are expensive (worth every single dollar by the way) Drop in classes are $20 and I can't fit that into my budget at this time. I would love to see them do a community class to get more local's in the door (& at a cheaper price?). I think The Sanctuary holds something special and everyone should experience a class here! read more

At the risk of sounding like a "Massage Snob", I get massages pretty frequently at a wide variety of places across the globe. I mention this because I want to give some context to my comments. I have encountered a wide range of results with those massages. Sometimes, the more expensive and exotic treatments end up being sub-par and thoroughly disappointing. In contrast, the less expensive massages often end up being the more satisfying experiences. "Body Solutions" qualifies as one of the best massage options in Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is, arguably, one of the most amazing places in the US. As a primo tourist destination, there is no shortage of nice places where people can find a quality massage. Although my wife and I enjoy the spas we regularly visit, we were looking for someplace new that was highly regarded (good reviews), nearby, and reasonably priced... in that order. This place satisfies all 3 of those requirements. I found this business through Yelp and we decided to give it a try. We both received 90 minute massages that were exquisite. The surroundings, the technique, and the overall ambience were top-notch. The staff are very professional - confident and pleasant to talk to. I could wax philosophic about the setting, the gentle background music, etc., but it boils down to this: When a trusted friend recommends a place - spa, restaurant, vacation destination, etc. I 'always' ask two questions... "If you could do it over again, would you?" ... and "Are you eagerly anticipating a return to that place?" In our case, the answer to both of those questions is the same - Absolutely!!! read more
