After months and months of not being able to get my hair done due to Covid-19 restrictions,…read moreCalifornia finally re-opened salons {with very specific protocol} and I was anxious to book my appointment at Spruce. Since the salon is located in Downtown Redwood City, there will not be any free parking as everything is metered street parking - Bring some quarters. Spruce Salon is taking every Covid-19 precaution possible - Only a limited number of stylists are allowed to work at a time {with chairs more than 6 feet apart}, each stylist is only allow to service one client at a time, both the stylist and the client must wear a mask the entire time and a temperature check is given prior to entering the salon. All of these procedures made me feel super comfortable in being in a salon again. My husband has been going to Spruce for years for his haircuts and raved about Nicole, so I decided to give her a shot when going in for a full highlight and a haircut - I am beyond thrilled to have found Nicole - She is a Hair Genius! I am a very easy going person and my hair is the one thing that I can tend to get picky about so I usually go into a salon with several pictures of what I am looking for {and as someone who previously managed salons/spas for years and years, I know this can be a stylists nightmare} - Nicole was amazing and looked through all of my pictures and I put my trust in her to see my vision - She exceeded what I was looking for 10 fold! Not only is she a stellar stylist, but she is beyond friendly and really listens to the clients needs/wants. The pricing is very comparable to other salons in the area, and in my opinion, it was less than I was looking to spend for such a great experience. If you are in the market for a new do' - Nicole is your girl! She is in demand and books up fast so be sure to plan ahead.. it'll be worth your wait!

And If you know Fernando you know you will just be laughing the whole haircut. He's the best. And Tanis is so skilled and knowledgeable I never need to ask, I tell her to do what she thinks looks good and she never disappoints. She is the master of blonds, but always gives me the most beautiful lux chocolatey brown that truly stands out. I will never ever have my hair colored or cut by anyone's else. I just don't trust them the way I trust Tanis and Fern. I just love seeing both of them every time I go into the shop. Thank you to you both!

She was late and double‑booked for my appointment time. The receptionist still had me wait and then, without even telling me, she placed me with a completely different stylist. I spent 10-15 minutes discussing my hair goals, sharing photos, and planning a future appointment, again, all under the assumption that I was speaking with the stylist I had intentionally selected. The stylist I was seated with never once clarified her identity, even when I showed her a photo of a hairstyle from the salon's website created by the stylist I originally booked. She never once said, that's not my work. When my appointment confirmation text came through, I noticed the name didn't match. I returned to the salon, and the receptionist told me, "Oh, I gave you to someone else since your stylist was late." WHAT?!!! And you didn't think to tell me??? To make matters worse, the stylist they switched me to has only been at the salon for a few months and isn't even being promoted on the salon's website, while the stylist I chose has years of experience -- a detail that mattered to me. At this point, I had lost all trust and confidence in the business practices of this salon - I canceled the appointment. Honesty, integrity, and communication are not Salon Cozzolino's strengths. This was a frustrating, misleading experience that left me feeling very deceived.

My hair didn't look great when I left the salon but after I went home and looked at my hair closely, I felt I really have to standup for myself. The cut itself is super choppy as you can see in the photo, looking like a shelf that's in fact shorter in the back? This is also not what I showed her, for cut or styling.
