Visited The Sally on Halloween night and thought it was wicked (tee hee, wicked - get it!). The place has two very comfy lounges and a pool room with a decent table and decent cues (something alien these days to Cardiff).
The bar lady was great - giving out free witches hats and halloween toys to the kids that came in trick or treating.
The locals were also great - the pub had a real community feel to it.
There's a lovely decked area in the front and a big garden at the back - I bet it's lovely in the summer.
We had a blast playing pool and joshing with the regulars. Eventually got ousted off the pool table when a guy and his dad came in for their weekly one-off game. They each bet a fiver and winner takes the pot. The guy let his dad win (by a whisker) - what a gent!
If you want wine, you have to buy one of those small one glass bottles (don't seem to be much of a call for the old vino up that neck of the woods) but other than that, the bar was well stocked.
If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go. I was very pleasantly surprised. read more
