Ventured in here last week to pick up tickets for the Oakwood Candlelight Christmas tour since The Rusty Bucket served as a ticket seller for the event. Lucky me, I was able to get to downtown Apex and go inside the place. 1. The staff was SUPER accomodating! 2. The place had a ton of antique-esque items. I put the -esque because some appeared to be new but it had the eclectic antique look. 3. If you are looking for rare gifts or items for yourself, this is your place! Nice little gift shop filled with so many items at every turn and nook and cranny!! You never know what you'll find next. Jams, pickles, soaps, trinkets, hand stitched items. Really I could go on and on listing it all. The pictures I took will give you a little bit of an idea of the diversity this little shop holds. Whether you're just there browsing or looking for a gift it'll be hard to walk out of here empty handed because the items are so unique. Prices are relatively affordable too - so even better! The shop owner is very friendly, but lets people browse as long as they want without intruding. Next time you're in the area it's a great little place to pay a visit to. read more

This place is so charming and has a wonderfully friendly staff who is helpful and sweet. The lady behind the counter gave my daughter a penny for the bubble gum machine. Just such a small town hospitable place. And the shop was filled with beautiful items. We will return. read more

Holy Americana! Furnishings and accessories for the cozy country home. The entire store smells like apple cobbler, so it was hard to concentrate. Candles, knicknacks, cottage style furniture and accessories, as near as I could tell, everything was new but made to look weathered. Area rugs, country/rustic themed artwork, it's all here. They won Country Business Magazine Retailer of the Year, which is a national honor. It's as soothing as a trip to Grandma's house and worth a trip tp Apex. read more

This is my all-time favorite store! I've been shopping here since the day they opened, and I love this place. Sometimes people don't fully know what is in their own backyard, and many locals may not realize this shop is an award-winner, having once garnered a "national retailer of the year" award. My favorite times to stop by the store come in two categories: one is when Pam kicks off the season with an open house, and you will find the shop absolutely packed with delightful gifts and decor, candles, and candy, and music, lighting and textiles, furniture, and even some antiques; the other is to pop in on a gray, rainy day -- in between holiday seasons -- because this place always brightens my mood. I have purchased numerous Halloween, Christmas, and other holiday decorations and gifts here over the years, plus dozens of home furnishings. I laugh when I tell my friends my house is decorated in "early Rusty Bucket." From my custom-ordered tablecloth for a table that seats 10, to custom lamp shades that match the decor of each room, to cozy throws for our easy chairs by the fireplace, to lamps of all kinds, to placemats and napkins, and those wonderfully aromatic candles in scents that evoke childhood memories of apple pie, pumpkin pie, sugar cookies, and cinnamon buns -- everything is a delight. Pam always seems to have some wonderful music playing, and I often buy a holiday CD during the Christmas open house. I even bought a small, primitive Christmas tree from there for my bay window. Delightful. Rusty Bucket has amazing custom farm tables, chairs, and benches, and the art work and wall decor are charming. Pam is superb at arranging her shop. If you've never been, you won't believe how much she and her husband Mack can get packed in there. Your eyes won't know where to look next! Be sure and get on their email mailing list (the sign-up is near the front of the store) so you will be notified of the latest goings-on and new arrivals at Rusty Bucket. I love this place and the warm feeling I get from the owners and employees, and from the ambiance of the glow of cozy low lighting and cheerful decorations. I bring in friends and relatives, and they love this store too. I'm going back there today! read more

I was less than impressed. The store seems to represent itself as an antique store, but in actuality most of their stuff is new. That isn't necessarily a bad thing as they do have some really nice items, but the store is not my cup of tea. Overall the shops on Salem Street are really nice and this is one of the many that you should stop in on if you are in the area and have the time. read more

I stopped in this cute country store and found cute handmade items like soaps, pillows, and signs. Most things are made locally. My only complaint is that prices are a little high but I will definitely go back. read more
