Divine. We were…read moreenjoying a week in the north woods when I noticed Braise North and wondered if they were affiliated with Braise in Milwaukee--they are! They're only open Friday evenings and Sat-Sun. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and got the best meal of our trip. They're a cute spot with a lovely little indoor dining room as well as a patio. We opted to dine outdoors on the sunny Saturday morning we were there. I ordered the frittata and a caramel latte made with almond milk. The frittata came with a lightly dressed salad on the side. The salad was fine but the frittata was out of this world delicious. It was buttery with creamy goat cheese that was beautifully sharp and flavorful. My caramel latte was the best cup of coffee of my trip (so good with wonderfully rich espresso). My only hope is that they'll eventually expand their hours as I would have happily been in there every morning of my trip. They are a wine bar in the evenings as well (though we didn't stop by for that). The service was good if a bit disjointed (we received our meals and finished them before our coffee came out). But, aside from that small snag--exemplary all the way around. Get to it!

Family owned (by a very sweet, funny and loving family) who will charm your pants off while enjoying a wonderful meal. You will laugh, you will have a great meal, and you will come back and repeat. It's basic small cafe food on the menu, but I haven't had a meal I didn't thoroughly enjoy. It's comfort food served with a dose of love. Breakfast can get really busy-it's cheap and it's darn good. My meal yesterday I laughed through the whole thing with the servers (who are the owners daughters) and I always can't wait to come back for more.

I ordered one of the salads with chicken and my boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich with a side of cheese curds. The chicken on my salad was great, but they handed me a bottle of store-bought italian dressing to pour on it, which made me wonder if I would have been better off just making a salad at home. My boyfriend loved his chicken sandwich, however and the cheese curds were quite tasty. Overall, it's an inexpensive, cute, divy little place to grab a sandwich or burger and ice-cream (which is delicious by the way) if you're driving through town, but I would hold off on ordering a salad. *** Word to the wise: They only accept cash here! That was another slight drawback to Double Buck Cafe. Luckily, my boyfriend and I had some extra cash to use so it wasn't an issue.

This is a huge restaurant with full bar, multiple taps of beer and an equally huge menu. My group was coming back from a non-high fence hunt. We were cold and hungry. I suggested a drink and some pizza. From the moment we pulled into the large parking lot, it was one surprise after another. The huge lodge building that serves as the restaurant, gift shop, bar and music venue was decorated nicely for Christmas. It was quite the sight. As we approached the building, we heard the sounds of live music. Inside, the crazy display of trophy deer mounts was almost dizzying. It literally took a couple of minutes to adjust to all the hustle, bustle and visual effects. The next surprise was the huge menu. If you can't find something to eat, you aren't hungry. All the items on the menu sounded delicious and the food being picked up by patrons at the counter looked great. We had second thoughts on having pizza when we saw all the fish fry options and other menu choices. However, we ordered pizzas and got our buzzer; to let us know when our pizzas were ready. We went around the corner and orders drinks from the bar. Wherever we were in the establishment, helpful staff gave us the information and assistance we needed. Our wood fire pizzas were really tasty. We preferred the Hot Honey Elk Pepperoni Sesame over the Meat Lovers but both were solid choices. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the sauces, but the crust was good and the toppings were ample. Overall, I need to return to try more of the menu (thinking steak). The prices seemed on par with similar establishments, the drinks were reasonable and the service was good. Definitely will add a trip back during a future "up north" excursion.
