    Brisket Mac Attack

Out in the middle of nowhere, but worth the trip to try. I would love to see the environment in the summer and when they have a band. The seating is set up like a lunch room at a school almost and the lighting is bright. I got Mac and cheese with brisket on it and it wasn't bad. Brisket was a tad too salty. Also ordered brisket platter and the portion was on the smaller end and some of the pieces were all fat with no meat so it felt like a rip off... Would try again but was not super impressed with the first visit.

The food exceeded expectations. The ribeye was excellent. The brisket and sides met the "Texas Bbq" standards.

This place makes some of the BEST, most delicious, mouth-watering food in WI! First tried them at a wedding (they catered from Primal Eats), and I could not stop talking about how absolutely DELICIOUS the food was. I immediately told my hubby, and we soon made plans to drive up there (90-minute drive) along with my mom. OMG, the brisket is to die for. Perfectly cooked, not dry AT ALL, soooo yummy. And the pulled chicken and pulled pork--just, wow. The Mac and cheese - just shut up it's SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!!!! GO HERE FOR FOOD! And be sure you come with an empty belly so you can stuff it to the max!! Worth the drive no matter where in WI you live. And seating is plentiful--you can sit inside or choose from LOTS of outdoor seating (picnic benches). They know what they're doing at Primal Eats!!

    Great exterior!

Family oriented...they do a great job with fencing and organization of their property. Whenever you have little kids and go out to eat it is all about safety and making sure you do not ruin the nights of others. Now for the hard part of this review...the food is expensive and decent at best. I do not mean that rudely but it is just missing something. However, I have only been once and want to return.

On the fence between a 5 or 4 Star Rating (great either way) but I decided to go with the 5 star rating because the food was good and this was such a unique experience that I overlooked a few drawbacks. The good This new restaurant is located on a large game farm, and I would imagine that in warmer months there would be lots of fun things to do and see in and around the facility. (Such as outdoor music and games, like corn hole). It's huge! Multiple rooms with mostly "community" seating on picnic tables or a really large dining room table. There is also seating in the bar. The bar is not huge, but it does have TV's to maybe watch a game. Im sure this would be a great place to host a party, meeting or other event. The decor fits the name perfectly. Literally dozens of Deer hanging on the wall (all huge trophy sized Bucks). One room was a "gift shop" that sells frozen foods, spices and some merch. Another room looked like a boardroom with a large dinning table. There was also a barroom and another large outdoor (heated) tent room. You order your food in the tented area and get a buzzer to let you know when to pick up your food. The menu is also huge! So many choices that include all types of meats, salmon, pizzas and loaded Mac and Cheeses. Soups, sides and desserts are also available. I wanted to try everything! I decided on the 3 Meat Sampler. This meal came which a very generous portion of Pulled Pork, Brisket and sliced German Sausage. There we were 3 types of BBQ sauces to choose from, Hot, Mild and Tennessee Bourbon. I liked the Bourbon the best. I really enjoyed all three of the meats. It was close, but surprisingly my top choice was the German sausage. I would gladly have any of all three of the meats again.... Anytime! Minor hang ups. The place is set up kind of weird. When I got there I wasn't sure where to go to get to the restaurant area. Really no map or signage (that I saw) to point you in any direction. I did see someone come out of a door that said "Gift Shop" so I decided to start there. Inside a met a friendly man that welcomed me and asked if I had any questions. He walked me through the complex (all connected) and showed me the ropes. Inside the tented area there was an "order window" with a video menu board. The menu was very extensive, so if you are new to Primal Eats, it may take a while to make a decision! I would recommend more menus around the area so you don't have to crowd around the order window while you make your choice. I am pretty sure you can bring up the menu on your phone using a scan code, but the cell service in this remote area is very limited. Hopefully WiFi is in the near future. I was also surprised that you can not order a beverage at the "order window". You have to do that in the bar, which is really strange. First of all, the bar is 2 rooms away, and if it were busy, it could be very inconvenient. The tented area was heated, but that day it was cold outside, and the room was still pretty cool. Also, it had snowed the previous night and the heat from the room was melting the snow on the tent roof. Some of the melted snow was pouring through some gaps in the tent into buckets on the floor. I would imagine this will be corrected soon, because I believe that this was the restaurants first snow, and the snow melt was a fixable learning situation! Overall, I really thought this was a cool dinning experience and the food was great. Everyone that worked there was super friendly and helpful. I plan on being back! I will chalk up the drawbacks listed about to the place being new. Because Primal Eats is located in a very "off the beaten path" location, I hope they get the word out and can be really successful. They are located near Shawano Lake so that should help them do well with the summer vacation crowd. Winter travelers and snowmobiles need to put this on their map too!

Primal Eats is new to the dining scene. Located on the grounds of the Apple Creek Whitetail game preserve. A rather unexpected location for a restaurant, but one that offers great promise of good things to come. At this time it seems there's a rather limited menu, but what they offer they seem to be doing it right. We went for the pizza and had the venison sausage pizza and the brisket pizza. The pizzas are prepared in a stone fire oven and ours were prepared perfectly. The venison sausage was a unique twist on a classic sausage pizza. In addition to pizza they offer brisket and pulled pork which is sold by the pound. The sides are also offered in large containers. It really seems a place to share a meal with others rather than just having a plate for yourself. The restaurant is currently set up as an outdoor venue with patio seating. You order food at one window and get a buzzer to let you know when you can go up to get your meal. You order your drinks at another window and pay for the drinks separately from your food. It works, but I'd rather order my food/drinks and only pay one time. The patio dining option is great for the summer months. I'm not sure what the dinner plan will be for the Wisconsin inclement weather we all know is coming. They have indoor dining areas, but they don't seem to be set up to be a properly operating restaurant at this time. Hopefully things are in the works because I'm hopeful Primal Eats is more than a summer destination. On Friday and Saturday evening they have local musicians playing live music on the patio. There's an adjacent gift shop to boot. There are a few small crafts, wine from nearby wineries and of course venison sausage. While at Primal Eats you might even be lucky to catch a glimpse of one of those $15,000 trophy Bucks roaming around the Apple Creek property. Welcome to the dining scene Primal Eats. I look forward to returning.
