Came up to Mt. Airy for Autumn Leaves festival and visit some friends, took a side street, and we…read morewalked past this store. They had a cute dress outside and had some other cute vintage dresses on display so I decided to go in. What an amazing variety of clothes, records, books, shoes, jewelry, and more. I was looking at jackets when one of the ladies who works there, Karen, came up to me and encouraged me to try on some long dresses. She said it's not too often when a tall lady comes in. She didn't pressure me at all but her passion for the store and clothes made me want to try stuff on. Honestly I wanted to anyway, but didn't plan on it, but I'm super happy I did! I'm from Charlotte and a lot of our "vintage" stores have clothes from the 90's and they charge $30-$80 for a shirt, let alone for a dress. But this store really had clothes from the 1950s and 60s and a lot of the stuff was handmade from residents in the area. I absolutely LOVED it!! It was also so fun having Karen be excited and finding dresses that she's wanted someone to try on. I ended up getting 3 dresses. The average price for the dresses were $19.99 for a long dress and $8.99-$12.99 for a short dress. I tried on a beautiful hand made long dress that looked like something from The Sound of Music or Marry Poppins and it was $30. I wanted it but really did't know where I'd wear it (I'll probably regret not buying it). It was handmade too. My husband bought an awesome flannel jacket that was fuzzy on the inside and was $20-$22. Great deal!! The owner was so sweet and her, and her husband, go around and get all the stuff themselves. I also heard they sell on Ebay!! All in all this shop is awesome. Karen was awesome, passionate, and so encouraging! Any time I come up to visit some friends from the area I am stopping by for sure!! If you are here this place should be a "must visit" while in town!

We learned about this place when we recently visited nearby Madison. Specifically, the owner of…read moreMadison Dry Goods recommended the marketplace. We made note of it and decided to stop in. My wife and I both enjoy searching (picking) used, vintage and antique items and are always looking for items that catch our eye. No, we are not hoarders! But we have found some random things that make us happy and on many occasions have made us money when we decided they should go to a new home. We had some time on a rainy Sunday afternoon and decided we would grab something to eat and find the Stokesdale Marketplace. We came here about 1pm. From the road, the building looks like a big warehouse. Pay attention to the directions because it is not immediately accessible from the main road. You need to enter on a side road to access the parking lot. We parked and walked inside. Looking down the walkway, my wife said, "wow, this place is huge!" We proceeded to begin walking through each area strategically so we wouldn't miss anything. We were surprised when we came to their indoor bar and snack area. Today it was closed but we thought it was a good idea. We were impressed they have a nice place to sit and ponder your future purchase or the purchase you just made. It also looked like they even have outdoor seating when the weather is nice. We found a few things for our house and will be back. It will also be a good place to bring out of town family when they visit.

Checked this place out while visiting my dad. Plenty of stalls/vendors to browse. Was able to pick…read moreup a vintage tablecloth and a couple postcards. Prices for the most part seemed reasonable.
