The Royal Punjabi has to be one of the best restaurants in the area! Norwich mainly seems to have fast food chains and American type places, but this spot is the exception. I came with a few coworkers for lunch and there were plenty of people picking up their meals. There is some seating there, but not a ton. Either way, you order at the counter. I really enjoyed my Lamb Curry, the only complaint being that the meat could have been a bit more tender. However, the flavor of the curry was so delicious that I didn't mind. My coworkers also enjoyed their food and everything looked excellent. I'd highly recommend!

Chicken Tikka Masala & Malai Kofta & Extra Basmati Rice & Naan

This was my first time trying Royal Punjabi. I have to say this ranks high and is a fantastic local Indian spot! We tried Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala & Malai Kofta & Basmati Rice & Naan. The service was great with the staff being attentive and spacing out the food while dining in. The portions are large for a great price, the wonderful staff there will have us coming back!

Another great delivery from this restaurant. Today was Spicy Chicken Tikka Masala and Spicy Chicken Korma. So good. Chicken Tikka is delicious with its juicy chicken And the Chicken Korma is great with the kick and nuts that c Perfect for a night in. Ordering is quick and easy through door dash.

Mango Lassi - so good!

We were craving something different while visiting New England and somehow Indian food popped up. And it was GOOD...! Who knew? We got Butter Chicken (so good!), Chicken Tikka (so good!), Shrimp Tikka (it was OK), Curry Chicken (we got mild... should have gotten medium), and garlic nan (it was so good!), and samosas (huge! It was OK). Add the Mango Lassi!! Smooth and sweet! Again, takeaway - order ahead - still had to wait a good 15 mins after quoted time. Really good flavors and we stuffed ourselves happy! The "Butter Chicken" was so fragrant and the chicken was tender. The Tikka Masala was on point. Be sure to get extra garlic nans! It was good!

Chicken Curry

I was told that this was the best Indian spot in the area, so I decided to come for takeout. Street parking only. We got the chicken curry, lamb saag, butter chicken, and chicken tikka masala, which all comes with basmati rice. By the way, medium spicy was not enough heat for us. There are 3 levels of spice (mild, medium, and hot) Out of the four, our favorite is the chicken tikka masala. The tikka masala just has a bolder and more flavorful taste compare to the rest. The butter chicken had more of a dairy flavor, as expected and it is our second favorite out of the four. This sauce is just buttery tomato sauce. The chicken curry was alright but not the best I have had, especially coming from bigger cities with more Indian restaurants. The lamb saag was our least favorite. The spices in the saag were just not our type of taste. We also got garlic naan, which goes well with the sauces from the entrees mentioned above. The naan was a little soggy but it was wrapped and transported a couple minutes before eating. In addition, we also got mango lassi for drinks. It was very yogurty. Comes kind of thick. Mango flavor was kind of faint. Overall, a nice Indian spot for the area. I would come back again.

THIS. IS. THE. BEST. INDIAN. FOOD. EVER!!!! Must stop if you're anywhere close!! Super reasonable, fast and DELICIOUS!! Stopped in after a trip to the spa and was blown away. It's no frills... no fancy restaurant here. But this was quite simply the best Butter Chicken I've ever had. My friend watered over her Shrimp Tikka Masala and we both enjoyed our garlic & mango chutney smothered Na'an VERY MUCH!

I love it and I always end up choosing new at least one new thing even though I have my usuals. I live just about 15 minutes from this place and I was always confused thinking it was just a buffet, which I found out it is on the weekends but you can order a la carte other days. I was extremely surprised to come by on a Tuesday only 2 days before Christmas and find the place pack and tons of to go orders. Everyone inside seemed like family and greeted us with a big smile. The waiter was attentive enough and brought us a bottle of water for the table which I appreciate it. We first decided to order a beer I love and new in the brewery industry called Rupee. I absolutely love the subtle spice flavors while being a very light beer. Then I tried for the very first time a beer called Golden Monkey. I was warned by the waiter that this beer was very strong (big smile); and it was. But the nicest coolest thing about this beer is how it tasted, I was doing a little dance and humming as I tasted it over and over. I can smell the clove and sweet spiced notes on this beer. It was a bit heavier but also so crisp, and boy did it hit you. It hit you hard (smile). Of course we only had one of these so that we can save enough space for the food. We order garlic naan and of course they also brought us some treats to snack on and I love that. We ordered the MM Kabab Sampler which was very tasty and was delivered to our table sizzling. We also tried the Lamb Tokari for the first time, this coconut and cumin sauce did not disappoint. And as usual we got Chicken Tikka Masala as well. We love this sauce. I only have to complaint that I wished it was dark meat but the flavors were excellent and we had every bit of it including the sauce. We had so much food we took a lot home for lunch the next day. Prices were very reasonable and portions were great. I loved it so much and have been telling my friends about it all week. I will definitely order from here again or come in for sit down dinner.

A Taste of India in Mystic, CT was a place I genuinely wanted to love. My family and I are huge…read morefans of South Asian food, and if you've read any of my past reviews, you know we frequent Indian and Pakistani restaurants often. Because of that, our bar is admittedly set pretty high--which may have influenced how we felt about this visit. Overall, the experience was average. This is a family-owned restaurant, and there were definite bright spots. The chicken momos were outstanding and easily the highlight of the meal. They were flavorful, well-cooked, and something I'd actually come back for. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes didn't quite meet the same standard. We ordered the Chilli Chicken with Vegetable Fried Rice, Chicken Vindaloo, and Chicken Biryani. While the portion sizes were generous--and we appreciated the complimentary garlic naan--the food itself was overly salty and lacked depth of flavor. On a positive note, they also included a free dessert: Gulab Jamun, which was very good and a nice touch to end the meal. Service-wise, the generosity with portions and extras was appreciated, but flavor is ultimately what matters most, and that's where the meal fell short for us. If you're in the Mystic area and craving Indian food, A Taste of India may be worth a stop, especially for the momos. That said, there are likely stronger options not too far away. Overall rating: 3.25 out of 5

We had a hard time stopping myself from eating any more. I was doing my little happy hum. We had several naan bread; paneer tikki masala; Chicken Bhuma masala and gulag yamun. We definitely will come back or even order to go. This is a little gem. Only suggestion is for the owners to have some Indian music as background.

Authentic South Indian vegetarian food, super plain but clean ambience, mediocre service…read more Tried the gobi manchurian, the Andhra masala dosa, the kothu parotta, and the poori-sabzi. On hearing that I had ordered the kothu parotta, the chef came out and asked me if I was from South India and said that he was Tamil from Chennai. It's refreshing to have South Indian food in the US prepared by chefs from South India, and that could explain why the food seemed authentic at Udupi. I enjoyed all the dishes, and while they're nowhere close to the South Indian food one can get in Bangalore (where I'm from) the food is significantly better than one can get in a South Indian restaurant in North Indian cities such as Delhi. The food was perfectly spiced (for me, which means that it may be spicier than usual for most other people) and flavourful. My dining partner tried the mango lassi and enjoyed it. The food was very reasonably priced. The service was neither particularly good nor bad. The woman at the counter was not very friendly but quite efficient. The restaurant appears to thrive on takeout/delivery orders, and was relatively empty. We went on a weekday, so it is possible that it gets more crowded during the weekend. The ambiance is totally charmless and food is served on paper plates. The food did take a lot of time to come out, and I'm assuming that this is because they had one chef at the time who presumably was struggling with delivery orders (UberEats and GrubHub drivers kept coming by to pick up food). I don't live in Connecticut; otherwise, I would come far more often. Overall, I recommend this place if you are in the area, but cannot speak to the quality of the North Indian food served at the restaurant.

I asked to have an order of Dal for take out at the heat that the chef usually eat it at. After signing a consent form and waiver (joking) she gave me an order of dal at 8/10. I tried it at this heat and yes, probably should have a glass of milk or some yogurt to cut the heat. I will try a 10/10 next time. All I all an excellent experience and one to be repeated.
