Great setting and atmosphere, quiet enough. Had their Gin! Well done. Foods are very good. Will come again for dinner tonight.

We thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor lunch at this historic pub. The food was spectacular, and we…read moreespecially loved the Steak and Ale pie for the depth of flavor, and the Salmon with mussels was truly phenomenal. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. There is a nice parking lot, lots of outdoor tables, and the WC was spacious and well kept. We plan to come back after Lockdown 2.0.

We chose the pub sharing platter to start between 4.5 of us (our 2 year old daughter has a great appetite...) which consisted of some great fresh pork pies, sausages, scratchings, bread etc - and then followed this with some tasty roasts (mixed pork and beef really hit the spot) - with all the trimmings - lovely veg and of course those ace Yorkshires (check out my pics) Dessert was tasty with a great selection - Eton Mess and Choc Brownie were awesome. We weren't drinking for various reasons but they did have a fairly decent selection of traditional ales and wines. The soft drink selection was great too - Fentimans all round for us. A lovely country inn, great food, drinks and surroundings - can't wait to go back!

You'll find their long bar right in front of you when you enter, with the area by the door having a few armchairs for a quiet drink. On the right are more pub-style table and chairs under a high ceiling. Though it looks like a place that takes your order at the table, you actually have to go to the bar yourselves. If you're there on a Sunday, I'd fully recommend the carvery - there's usually a choice of turkey, beef, gammon, or some of each - with fresh vegetables, roasties and oodles of gravy to serve yourselves. They aren't stingy with the slices of meat either. If you don't want a carvery then they bring out your meals as normal. The food is all good quality and reasonably priced. There's a nice selection of options for starters, main courses and desserts which you'd come to expect as 'pub grub' (farmhouse pate, steaks, cheesecake etc.). It's part of the Marston's pub chain, so their standards are what you'd expect from a well known business like theirs (i.e. very good). A great, reliable choice of venue for a hearty family meal out with friendly staff.

I like old hall - Nice spot, local and friendly. Much improved service since I was last here. Came…read morefor curry night and had the hot as hell curry... So hot it hurts! Not for the faint hearted - managed to finish it but by God, those naga naga curries are deadly. Great wee spot though!

Owned by both Landlady and Landlord, they do their best to make you feel welcome. There's often a strange mix of clientele, from the very young to the very old, but everyone appears to be having a grand old time all the same. For sports lovers, there's the informal sports bar upstairs with screens, but be sure to get there early to nab a leather sofa. The Orange Tree has a great selection of draught beers as well as real ales, and the food hearty and includes a very pocket-friendly daily special including pie day, fish and chip day and steak day, all under £5!

It's one of those pubs that has obviously been lovingly cared and built on for a number of years. The food is good old fashioned pub grub like home made steak and ale pie, rump steaks, baguettes and a good selection of salads. They even have a resident ghost! who has been the subject of interest for ghost hunters, regulars and visitors alike..... Apparently he is a monk who likes chanting! They have a small beer garden to the rear, there is also seating out the front facing out onto Altrincham old market square, most of the buildings here are some of the oldest in the town. There is also a sports bar inside where they show all sports .. you name it, they probably will air it. A peaceful, privately owned and traditional pub!
