I wrote my comments on the other site for Dr Paul Hughes. It was a stem cell review.

Went in for a 3-week old painful leg muscle injury around the hip that did not seem to be healing…read more MD looked at my old provided hip scans from elsewhere and did a very minimal exam, asking me to sit on the exam table, raise my legs and moved them left and right one time. Then he told me he wanted to get an x-ray, which didn't seem to make a lot of sense for a muscle injury. Coincidentally, the MD owns an x-ray machine. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail? After the x-ray, which showed nothing different than previous MRI's provided him, he tells me probably a sprain or strain, to rest for one month and c/b for a new appointment if still not better. Gee...

Yes, tennis elbow does not sound serious, but they do have a fancy name for it and the pain is substantial. Dr. Hazelrig gave me a cortisone shot, which was not too comfortable. Once I recovered from my cortisone flareup, my elbow felt brand new. Unfortunately, my elbow decided to act up and the tennis elbow pain returned. Reluctant to get another shot, Dr. Hazelrig suggested laser treatment. He was going to send me off sight for the service but realized my medical insurance would not cover it. I think he felt sorry for me, so he decided to laser me up in his office. There has not been enough time passed in order to know if the lazier works, but I do appreciate Dr. Hazelrig's efforts and the fact he administered a treatment he felt would help me. These are the things I like: 1-Dr. Hazelrig 2-his staff 3-the fact it is a one stop shop (x-rays and all) 4-fast and friendly service 5-communication From my past experiences, I find it difficult to find a doctor I like. Dr. Hazelrig has changed that for me.

I've never had an experience like this in my life. I can't…read morespeak to his ability as a physician because I only saw Dr Bolanos for about five minutes on my first visit and not at all on my second and final visit. The rest of the time I was with his assistant. I don't recall whether she was a PA or a nurse practitioner. I told her that I could not take any type of oral non steroidal anti inflammatory medication (Motrin, Aleve,etc.). In spite of this, she wrote me a prescription for genetic Celebrex and told me it shouldn't cause me any problems. She was wrong. At first I could take it if I also took Prilosec but after a few weeks the acid reflux and stomach upset were constant even with the Prilosec. Obviously, I stopped taking it. Thus far, I didn't have any really huge problem with their office and was waiting to start physical therapy. But then I received a bill via E-mail for the entire cost of my first office visit. Not even the contracted amount they should have been paid by insurance, but the much higher cost for someone without insurance. The bill arrived before I even received notice from my insurance that they'd denied payment. I called the billing office number given in the email and walked straight in to a nightmare from hell. I quite simply asked why I was being billed for more than $300 when I should only owe a $30 co pay. I met with immediate hostility and was told my insurance didn't pay so I had two options: pay the bill now or be sent to collections. I was threatened, yelled at and bullied. I received a couple of harassing phone calls from them and finally blocked their number. I called my insurance and found someone had made a mistake in the denial. A couple of service reps from my insurance spoke with billing and received the same treatment that I did. I spoke directly with Dr Bolanos and advised him of my "conversation" with his billing office and told him I would not deal with them any further. He said "there must have been a miscommunication, no one will send you to collections prematurely". I told him I would file an appeal on the insurance payment denial and asked that they cease and desist while the appeal was pending. The insurance company by law has 60 days to complete the appeal process. After about five weeks I called my insurance company to see if I could get a status as Bolanos's office was still billing me. The advocate my insurance company connected me with said it was still pending but she'd be happy to call and make sure billing understood the 60 day timeline and that they needed to stand down and wait for the decision and hopefully the payment from insurance. They were as hostile with her as they'd been with me and told her if they didn't receive payment for the full amount they'd billed me for by Tuesday (this was Friday) my file was going to collections. She told me she'd never been spoken to the way she was in trying unsuccessfully to talk with that office. She said she was sorry but wouldn't call them a second time. I didn't pay and they didn't send me to collections. They just like to threaten and bully people. Ten days later the appeal was approved and they were paid the contracted amount owed them by my insurance. More than six weeks later, today I received a bill from them for $10 for my second and final visit. Do I owe it? Not according to my insurance. But I'm going to pay the damned thing as I did a couple of other $10 co pays I don't think I owed because I don't want to ever deal with anyone from this office ever again! So if you decide to seek treatment here, understand you may not see much of the doctor and they may not wait for your insurance to pay before very aggressively coming after you.

My sister highly recommended Dr. Dirk who performed shoulder surgery on her 10 years prior with great success. Many thanks to his office staff for squeezing me in during this ordeal. Dr. Dirk surprised me. After spending time moving my shoulder, he determined that I did not need an x-ray or MRI. He was certain I didn't need surgery. He asked me to follow his instructions carefully, and in 1 day, the pain will lesson, without taking anything strong than Advil and Tylenol. I thought he was crazy! It is now a week later, I've had my follow-up appointment, and I can't thank him enough for his expert assessment and guidance. Thank you Dr. Dirk!!!
