I was amazed to be able to find an ART chiropractor when I moved to this area. This kind of chiropractic is gentle and more effective. No twisting and cracking and the pain is gone. I have severe arthritis and advanced scoliosis. Dr Scott keeps me feeling like a human being instead of a bag of wooden blocks. I'll never go back to standard chiropractic again. Scott is a lovely, sincere, caring man. Julie at the front desk is a delight. read more

Was my first visit to this office and I left feeling alright about it. Nothing flashy but it worked out fine. The assistant was friendly and went through a checklist of stuff before the doctor came in. The doctor spoke in a simple way, explained things step by step and asked if I had any questions which I did and they answered without brushing me off. Didn't feel rushed which I liked. The whole place ran on time and everyone seemed to know their role. It's a good option if you're just looking for solid and consistent care. read more

I've tried various treatments for back pain over the years, but nothing has come close to working as well as (ART) with Dr. Scott. This technique has truly been a game-changer for me.... legitimately life changing. From my very first session, I felt a significant improvement, and over time, my mobility and pain levels have dramatically improved. I can honestly say this is the best chiropractic care I've ever received. If you're dealing with chronic pain or injury that hasn't responded to other treatments, I highly recommend giving Dr. Scott a call! You will not regret it. read more

I want to start by saying I absolutely LOVE all of the staff at this practice! Just seeing Julie's smile as soon as you walk in will immediately put you in a good mood. Darlene has this amazing energy and magical healing hands that will make you feel like a new person when you leave. And Dr. Scott will always make you feel like part of the Perfectly Aligned family every time you come in. I was referred to Dr. Scott after a gym-related hip/back injury. When I first walked in, I could barely stand up straight and was constantly in pain. I had little confidence that I was going to get better and even considered going to the ER a few times for the pain. But after a few weeks of regular chiropractic appointments, I felt stronger and was able to go back to the gym. After a couple months of coming to Perfectly Aligned, I was finally strong enough to compete in a CrossFit competition at my pre-injury skill level (and won third place)! The chiropractic aspect of this practice is phenomenal and I highly recommend it to everyone! As far as the people, I promise you will never find a more welcoming and personable chiropractic staff. They always make me feel like I'm family and as comfortable as if I'm at my own house. read more

Dr. Niss was tremendously helpful in a short amount of time with ART and adjustments that relieved pain caused by rotator cuff imbalance. Prior to seeing Dr. Niss, I was discouraged and afraid I might not climb again. After the first session, I felt relief, and after three sessions, the pain I had been experiencing was gone. Dr. Niss also showed appropriate PT exercises. I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Niss and will be returning for all my future issues. read more

Unfortunately, last year I was in a car accident. Miraculously, it somehow led me to this honest, genuine practice that truly aims at healing and strengthening your body. I highly highly recommend to everyone I know! Pre car accident I had never been to a chiro before. In less than 1 year I had treatment from 4 different chiropractors at different businesses all for the same injury/issue. My point of view is really highlighting the best of Dr. Scott in comparison to where all the other doctors lacked. 1) From the initial visit with Dr. Scott, I could easily tell he was extremely thorough in trying to understand the issue and inquiring about my day-to-day movements/lifestyle. 2) There is never a feeling of being rushed each session. Time is taken to maximize the most out of each visit. 3) He is honest about the frequency of treatment you would best benefit from. I noticed other doctors scheduled more frequent appointments (2-3 times per week). 4) Most importantly, little by little my body significantly recovered the most from Dr. Scott in a shorter time period. The best I have ever felt since the accident. Onto the legendary massage therapist, Darlene. I can confidently say I have not had a better massage in my life than from Darlene. Not even at a high end spa. She really understands the body and cares deeply about your healing journey. She has shared so much knowledge with me about how to heal my body. I have zero intention of wanting a massage from anyone else in the future. It's such a treat to see her! Julie, the receptionist, is an absolute star. You can count on her to get things done. She goes above and beyond for all my little asks and always follows through even when I forget. Not to mention, they are all such lovely, pleasant, and humorous people. I cannot thank them enough for their services. read more

Dr. Scott is a master at what he does! The A.R.T. is what really makes a difference for me. Although I love the adjustments (the neck adjustment is my favorite, weird I know) the A.R.T. is a lifesaver. It gets my muscles working the way they should. Every time I leave Dr. I feel like a new person. Oh, and Dr. Scott is super nice and attentive to your needs. You can't go wrong with Dr. Scott. read more

I went to Dr. Nissenbaum because I had extreme pain in my arm, especially in my forearm. I also had nerve tingling in my hand. He was able to identify the problem in my shoulder. After each visit the pain lessened and the tingling in my hand improved. I can say that I am now pain free. It took about a month but I couldn't be more relieved that I turned to Dr. Nissenbaum. He takes great care with his patients. read more

Do you like MAGIC HANDS? Because this guy has it. I've been to 10 Chiropractors in my lifetime and Scott is 'hands' down the best in the biz. ART (Active Release Therapy) + Adjustments + his knowledge on the connected areas, means his approach is going to fix you, not add to his schedule and wallet. I've had an L4/lower back issue for 20 years and he is the first Chiropractor to fix me where I do not need to visit a chiro on a regular basis. That is INCREDIBLE. Don't look anywhere else for Chiropractors. Scott "Magic Hands" Nissenbaum is the best and you can thank me later. read more

I've been going to Dr. Nissenbaum for several years, most recently for TMJ. I was never told ART was an option but I decided to give it a try. My jaw was fully locked at 15mm and after only 5 sessions my jaw is now fully unlocked (42mm)! I still have minor soreness but I'm amazed at how fast I was able to get relief and increased range of motion. My dentist and several other TMJ specialists recommended everything from PT, Botox injections, weeks of acupuncture and even surgery. ART is non-invasive, no down-time and much cheaper than all the other alternatives. I highly recommend Dr. Niss to anyone suffering from TMJ! read more

I saw Dr. Nissenbaum after 4 months of frustration trying to find treatment for my severe TMJ. I saw my ENT doctor, my Dentist, another TMJ Specialist Dentist, an Acupuncturist, a Massage Therapist, even a Botox nurse who injected Botox into my jaw....and nothing worked or even lessened my symptoms at all....until I finally found Dr. Nissenbaum and Perfectly Aligned Chiropractic. I was referred by my regular Chiropractor, Dr. Blenio at High Amplitude Health. My ongoing symptoms were a persistent ear ache, swollen glands in my neck, and my teeth wouldn't close properly to chew. After just one treatment of Active Release Therapy (kind of like deep tissue massage from inside the mouth), the next morning when I woke up my teeth closed for the first time in 4 months. After the second treatment, my ear ache was gone. I've now had 4 treatments and I am 90% better. I am so relieved I finally found someone who could help me! I highly recommend perfectly aligned chiropractic if you need help for your TMJ! read more

This place is a gem in the heart of San Carlos. I highly recommend Dr. Scott to anyone who is experiencing pain. No one can do what Dr. Scott does, even if they are trained in Active Release Technique ART. In my case, I had so many issues going on. First of all, my left hip was tilting inward and causing the vertebrae to align improperly to the right which caused nerve pain. Additionally, my muscles were so tight that they prevented my spine from being adjusted by other chiropractors. Basically, it was a mess. My first visit with Dr. Scott let me feel what it was like to not feel horrific pain--on a scale from one to ten it was a ten plus, plus. After 5-months of therapy and relearning how to control my posture and strengthen my abdomen with specific exercises and even be aware of my abdomen has taken away the chronic pain and reduced the threshold to a one-two. I actually find myself doing my daily routine and realizing that I don't feel pain. I am learning how my posture and physical issues such as scoliosis has led to this problem. Thank You Dr. Scott for taking care of me. read more

Dr. Scott and his receptionist Julie are quite the team. As a bedside RN, my career is very demanding on me mentally and physically. Dr. Scott has helped my body rebound from such stressors of work and working out, via spinal adjustments and fascia manipulation of active release therapy. Dr. Scott delivers chiropractic therapy that is not aggressive/jarring but gentle and assertive. His demeanor is professional and personable. Julie is on top of keeping Dr. Scott's appointments flowing and let's patient's know of updated availability. I trust Dr. Scott and Julie for their professionalism, intuitive insight, TLC and nonstop smiles. Thank you both for treating me like family :) read more

Can't say enough about Dr. Scott and his office. It is a small friendly office. The exact opposite of the chiropractor I used to go to whose office was like a three ring circus. Julie, the front office assistant, is so friendly. Dr. Scott is an excellent chiropractor and performs ART which is so helpful. He is kind, caring, and sensitive. At the other chiropractors office I used to go to, I received very impersonal and assembly line treatment. Dr. Scott is very attentive and never lets you sit in a room alone waiting for treatment. His office follows strict protocols for Covid and I feel safe when I am there. read more

Dr. Scott helped me get rid of back pain from being rear-ended 2 years before. I had kind of given up and assumed that the stubborn pain was just going to be a part of me, so I am so relieved to say that I no longer feel it! I didn't know what ART was before I went to Dr. Scott but it worked wonders for me. I'm happy to know I can rely on him for my care! read more

I went to Dr. Niss for ART on my back and shoulder. I really appreciate that he also gave me strategies for staying pain free after helping those areas heal. Dr Scott has been my chiropractor for the past 5 years for adjustments, A.R.T., and has helped me get through periodic aches and pains. He's also become the go-to Dr for my family and friends. Dr. Scott is, hands down, the most talented, personable chiropractor I've ever had the pleasure of having work on me. As an active adult, I need to ensure my body is worked on regularly to keep up with my training regimen. Dr. Scott's work on my shoulders and legs has resulted in me taking my weight lifting and basketball to the next level. I'm in less pain as well. Nothing but good words to say! Strongly recommend his practice and will continue to be a regular customer. read more

The best chiropractor I've ever visited. Have been going for years for anything from sciatica pain to neck and shoulders. He works magic! I have visited many chiropractors across the world but his approach to adjustments + deep tissue is the only one I've found to really work and fast. I will continue to be a patient for years to come! read more

Dr. Scott Nissenbaum is by far the best chiropractor I have seen to date. He was recommended to me by a friend at work, and I wasn't long into my first appointment with him before understanding why my friend liked him so much. The first thing that stood out was that the doctor was super thorough in getting to know me and my issues, and spent a great deal of time trying to truly understand what might be causing me the pain that I was experiencing. Then came the range of motion exercises, which he talked me through so I knew the purpose of each test. So far in this visit the doctor had been way more thorough than any other chiropractor before him, and he wanted to be certain of any adjustments / treatment before giving them out. By the end of the visit I had a solid plan of action going forward -- and skipping along to the following visit I can safely say that I am beginning to feel results from the very calculated adjustments and active release therapy that he has given me. I highly recommend, he's on top of his game which is a great benefit to us all! read more

I was referred to Dr. Scott for Active Relief Therapy by my regular chiropractor as I was having real issues with my right shoulder and right biceps tendon that the regular chiropractor couldn't resolve. At the time I started seeing Scott it hurt just to put on a coat or long sleeve shirt when I reached back with my right arm. After just a few sessions with Dr. Scott my mobility greatly improved and my experiencing pain when reaching back was significantly lessened. I now experience almost no pain in that area unless I'm reaching way way back. I highly recommend Dr. Scott Nissenbaum read more

I have had back pain since I was a teenager. I've been to a couple chiropractors over the years just to see if they made any difference and they did not really do anything for me. Dr. Niss saw me on a day when my back was thrown out and he had me walking out of the office that day almost back to normal. He mixes the spine work with a kind of deep tissue massage (active release therapy) and stretching. That is an awesome combination that is working for me! He is very knowledgeable about all his techniques and logically explains everything he is doing. He also does a great take in process where he listens to your full story about your back and body to understand your pain. I feel better every time I walk out of his office. read more

You got Questions?.. Well this man CERTAINLY has the answers... Dr. Scott will definitely invest the time needed to listen and address all your issues. I see him for A.R.T and it has worked WONDERS on my shoulder. I had honestly gotten to the point where I was accepting having a shoulder that would never stop hurting, but this man showed me that is not the way it has to be. I absolutely encourage anyone thinking about chiropractic treatment to give serious consideration to coming here. read more

Dr Niss' reviews speak volumes here and also was recommended to me by a very long time friend over the summer after a serious roll over motor vehicle accident that injured my upper and lower back as well as my shoulder. Doc Scott is super easy to schedule with and is ALWAYS on time.Yes there actually are Doctors with stellar bedside manners and I assure you this is one of them. His approach and super cool attitude will put you at ease right away. I am a very active 39 year old with way too many years of extreme sports damage equating to a few spare parts being ended too. after being hurt by a few "bone crackers" in the past I will also mention I am very guarded with my back as I have 13 bad discs. Dr Niss is by no means ever in a rush and very on point with listening and providing care to the issues at hand. We are very lucky to have a local Dr that is definitely Top Notch in my book read more

I found Dr Scott on yelp because I needed someone closer to work and able to take an hour off to take care of myself during the work week. My neck was in very bad shape and locked up in my opinion and giving me really bad headaches and backaches. He's not like the other one Chiropractor I've been going to. He actually has a treatment program to ensure everything is aligned and stable. Initially, I was visiting him frequently for two months and now I feel I'm well enough to see him on "as needed basis". I will definitely keep coming back and know that he'll take good care of me. I recommend him to anyone needing chiropractic services. Book your appointment today and you can conveniently do so online which is another plus! read more

I want to provide an update since my last review...this office is still phenomenal and I love coming here. I have been very cautious about risks to COVID exposure and Dr. Niss' office has done an excellent job ensuring the safety of their patients. I have been able to seek the care I need through this long period of work from home and it's given me piece of mind that I can maintain my treatment plan with the safety measures in place at the office. Dr. Niss recently added Dr. Woo do the practice as well, and he is just wonderful! Both Dr. Woo and Dr. Niss treat you with compassion and provide the highest quality care to their patients. read more

I had been hearing about him for a couple years now from my co-workers. He is well loved. I finally went to see him for Achilles Tendonitis. I was wavering between 4 stars and 5 stars. I went with 5 because of how I feel today. 4 stars is when I am physically with him. I won't lie.... It hurts. Active Release Therapy is not for pansies. But if you want to actively recover instead of waiting months I highly recommend Dr. Scott. After two weeks of torture with him (5 sessions) I feel like I can go running. I WONT yet of course.... But it's worth putting a review in here. His technique really works. I hope I never have to see him for torture again... But if I do I know it's going to work. He is also a really cool dude. That doesn't effect my strong feelings of wanting to scream at him during the sessions... But afterward I can quickly warm up again so I don't want to punch something. He has a great sense of humor and tries his best to distract you from the therapy. Be strong... Breathe and get help! Dr torture is worth it!!! read more

I was always one very skeptical of the whole chiropractic thing...after several years of failed Kaiser care, someone told me to try Dr Scott. I can honestly say this was the best decision. After pain in my lower back for several years, it took 2-3 months for Dr. Scott to completely heal it...after getting treatment once a week for 2-3 months, my back felt so amazing I was able to spend 3 months driving around the country....after healing my back it took 3-4 treatments to heal my shoulder that I thought was doomed for good....if you need back or shoulder pain relieved or dissipated, Dr Scott Nissenbaum is the guy you need to Contact ASAP....No BS... read more

Unbelievable!! Two days prior to leaving on an epic North Shore surfing trip I tipped over on my bike directly onto my shoulder. Bruising and seriously limited mobility ensued. Dr. Scott was not phased by my desire for an immediate fix that would allow me pain free surfing over the next week. He dove in, and no joke, I was surfing less than 24 hours later with ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN. How is that even possible?? Thank you Dr. Scott, thank you. read more

Scott is not just one of the best chiropractors I've come across, but he is an amazing human being and looks forward to providing the best care and all the attention in the world to people. I've had left knee problems recently but he's been able to provide as much work and effort on it as possible and has broken down all the information for me so that I can understand what's going on. Does a great job with the ART method and was able to apply kinesio tape around the leg and it's been feeling a lot better in many ways. I have to do my part in taking care though and not re-aggravating it. I can't say enough about Scott though, highly recommendable. read more

When I found myself in need of an emergency chiropractic appointment soon after I moved to the area, I was a bit nonplussed to find that there were quite a few five-star-rated practitioners. It appears that people, not surprisingly, tend to give top reviews to any chiropractor who eases their pain, and since a good chiro should do that... well, you get the point. But I rolled the dice and wound up with Dr. Niss. I got lucky -- as far as I'm concerned he is the perfect chiropractor for me. I've been to quite a few (dozens) of practitioners over the years, and Dr. Nissenbaum is absolutely the best in how (and how well) he incorporates soft-tissue techniques (principally active release techniques, or ART) into his work. There's often more to chiropractic issues than spinal alignment, and Dr. Niss understands this and puts it into practice. Combine this broader-than-usual focus with incredible flexibility (he rearranged his schedule multiple times to accommodate mine, even when he'd just met me) and kindness, as well as an impressive body of technical knowledge (as a teacher of college biology I can recognize the difference between knowledge and BS, and Dr. Niss knows his stuff), and he's everything I want in a chiropractor. It's a personal decision and I imagine he's not right for everyone, but take it from someone who has seen many doctors in the field and who tends to be highly critical: if you need help, Dr. Nissenbaum is worth your consideration. read more

I had been dealing with a limp for a few weeks until I started seeing Dr Scott. We discussed the best therapy for my injury which was Active Release Therapy. Active Release Therapy is tuff and it is painful, but Dr. Scott easy going personality and great experience makes this procedure easier to endure. I am happy to report that my sexy limp is gone. We are now working on my neck and my allergies which have improved tremendously. I recommended Dr. Scott to any of friends and family. I started seeing Dr. Scott because I was experiencing debilitating pain in my left hip and shoulder from exercise-related injuries. Dr. Scott is patient, thorough and committed. He was able to pinpoint exactly where my pain originated from quickly and within our first 2-3 sessions, I saw very notable results. His process is not always the most comfortable, but it is absolutely worth the outcomes. I am now able to sleep through the night on my left side because of our sessions - a minor miracle that I never thought would happen following my injuries. Not only is Dr. Scott a wonderful chiropractor, but he is also a genuinely great person. I always enjoy my sessions with him because of his unique ability to turn uncomfortable moments (such as an adjustment or a therapy) into engaging conversation and overall, an enjoyable experience. I am so thankful for Dr. Scott and would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone in need of this kind of service - I guarantee that you will be glad you went to him. read more

I was involved in a dirt bike accident 10 months ago and injured my neck. My X-Rays and MRI were normal but I was still in a lot of pain. I tried Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture with e-stim but none of those treatments provided any relief. A few months ago I decided to try Active Release Technique (ART) with Dr. Nissenbaum and within a few sessions noticed that the chronic pain had started to subside. I've been treated by him regularly for a few months now and my pain has been significantly reduced. Dr. Nissenbaum is very thorough in his diagnosis and treatment and he takes the time to carefully explain what he's doing and why. I'd highly recommend ART and specifically Dr. Nissenbaum for chronic soft tissue pain relief. read more

I always look forward to a visit with Dr Scott; he takes time to share his knowledge and I get improvement in my latest symptom. As a 50-something active person, I've done more than my share of damage to my poor mechanical system. Although I'm better educated than I was in previous decades and I ascribe to the MobilityWOD philosophy that "all human beings should be able to perform basic maintenance on themselves", there are some bells I cannot un-ring, especially on my own. Dr Scott's expertise with ART and other tricks is golden if my pelvis is twisted and paining my arthritic hip, or my thoracic area just won't unlock when twisting to the left. There is no hard sell, or rushing me out to fit too many patients into the day - Dr Scott loves what he does and does it well. read more
