You can view the giant mural 24 hours a day and it's completely free. The mural is incredibly detailed so Simpsons super nerds should allow some time to truly study it. It presents a great photo opportunity but be careful when taking pics: you have to stand in the middle of the street to get the entire thing in view. This is just so cool to pose in front of. One of the best-kept secrets in all of Springfield.

I came in here with my husband yesterday. We've been in a number of times to look around before,…read morebut it had been a bit and I wanted to stop since we had time. We walked in and we're immediately greeted by the woman working. She was kind, welcoming, and helpful. She let us wander, as there is a ton of stuff to see. It's really hard to take it all in with one trip alone, or if you don't have much time. But also walked through the store to see if we needed anything, wanted to see something in a case, or just had questions. What I appreciated is she checked on us, because I did want to see things and ask questions, but it wasn't invasive. We ended up buying a beautiful paperweight for my desk, a glass turtle, and a wooden yarn spool for my craft projects. I think we spent $50 on those three things, which wasn't expensive at all, in my opinion. This is a fun store where you can take trips down memory lane, enjoy the nostalgia of things, add to a collection you have, and just enjoy seeing everything they have to offer. My husband and I did exactly that yesterday while walking around. I always find this shop to be relaxing and fun to walk around in and spend some time. Would I return? Yes! Definitely yes. We've been coming in here for a couple of years and love it. We'll definitely keep coming back.

Parking is great and the space is top notch. Their events always attract a great crowd. The surrounding trails make for a lovely escape from the masses when you need a break and it's incredibly pleasant to wander in all the different pockets of fun that can be set up around the main hall. On non event days it's one of my favorite nearish parks year round. Bird watching early or evening strolls, shady summer walks or a solid hike up the hill, it's never boring. Located in an industrial park, this tiny shop-slash-museum is a unique find for families to explore, and it's free admission! We stopped in and had a great little chat with the owner/curator. It took us a minute to figure out if he was joking with us or was serious about the time machine in the museum. He has a time machine in the museum. Seriously. To be clear, it's actually a telephone/time machine. Inside the machine, he informed us, is his phone number, in case they have trouble figuring out how to make the machine in the future...they can call him to get technical assistance. (No, seriously...) The museum has clocks dating from the 1700's all the way up to the present, with some of the most bizarre and artistic time tellers imaginable. If you travel with two silly girls, like me and my friend, it is an awesome spot for goofy selfies! The clock shop is exploding with cuckoo clocks, grandfather clocks, and every size in between. Lots of fun at the top of the hour, fir certain! To finish off the cool store, there's also a section of ultra-creepy collectible dolls that are sure to give you nightmares. Definitely worth a trip. Eugene isn't exactly a metropolis, so if you're looking for something to do, you've got to add this to your list.

There are water-clocks, cuckoo clocks, ball clocks, grandfather clocks made to look like all kinds of different things, clocks made of wood, metal, glass, ceramic, and I don't know what all. It's absolutely fascinating, and many of the clocks are running. If you ask a staff person a question, they'll start telling you about many of the clocks, and boy, are they knowledgeable and enthusiastic! The store part is nice, too. A wide variety of new clocks, all set to different times so that they chime at different times. No admission fee. How many museums can say that?

Not much to see in this Museum…read more I really appreciate that there is an organization devoted to preserving Springfield's beginnings, though. Unfortunately, I can't help but compare this museum to Brownsville, (population under 2,000) and wonder why there's so little to tell in Springfield (population over 60,000). The building is great, I must say, (but has no handicapped access) and the floor space is limited, so maybe that's one reason. There were random cases here and there with objects in them, a dressmakers dummy with a Victorian style dress, a few household items and a temporary exhibit with nice quilts displayed here and there. Upstairs there is a ridiculous Simpsons display area. I'm glad Matt Groening finally admitted that this is the Springfield he was thinking of when he created the television show, but find the fiberglass display quite garish and un-historical. I just didn't get any hint of why Springfield is here, other than the photo showing the location of the spring (The spring that gave the name to Springfield) is (under an apartment building on B street). I was thinking about the wood industries here, Dorris Ranch, the large population of Latinos, the proximity to Eugene and how the people there refer to Springfield down their noses ("Springtucky") and what has been done to create an identity that speaks directly to the actual current population besides one photo of a local native tribe? What about the ferry that used to link Springfield with Eugene? I realize the whole "Simpsons" connection is to draw in visitors, and I suppose this has been successful to some degree, but I did find this pretty empty of local history. This makes me sad, as the volunteers who run the place are well-meaning and nice.

The woman herself, Celeste, was at the shop when I stopped in and was so warm and welcoming. They have a variety of designs. I especially liked the one with a peacock design, and there was one with some leaves blowing that I was quite taken with. I also saw a beautiful one with a compass rose that was a wooden dial. There was even one with a Sasquatch! They also take commissions and you can send a photo of your pet with which they'll create a watch face. You can't get more unique than that. The watch materials may include wood, mother of pearl, abalone, and so on which makes them really just stunning. I'd love to get one of these sometime because they of course are practical but they're also a beautiful accessory and fashion statement. I was given an Apple Watch that I never actually wanted (it has a couple useful features) and can go many months without wearing or thinking about, but something like this would feel much more practical to me (if for no other reason than having to charge up a watch is just ridiculous to me). I think at some point I'll be back in person or via their website to buy one of their pieces--it's a matter of narrowing it down to which of a few designs I really want.
