Sept 25. Mediocre. The facility is worn and put together in the most hodgepodge manner known to man. You have to go thru another bedroom to get to a bathroom or bed to get downstairs. Super redneck. The property needs a real cleaning!!!! At present whomever is cleaning does a very superficial attempt. There is nothing extra in the kitchen - no salt pepper, paper towels, coffee filters, seasonings etc. I have never been to a rental that didn't have those types of things. AC in some rooms cold others hot. The pictures are either photo shopped or glamor shots. Pro- two separate buildings w kitchens. Comfy beds. Plenty of towels. Great location on the river. There are so many great properties out there. THIS IS A PASS. read more

Sisters Trip Was A Success What a wonderful trip. We have been here numerous times. The water level is a little low but up some from the last time we were here. There was plenty of water for tubing, fishing and canoeing. We try to come every six months to stay grounded and remind us that it's important to enjoy life and spend time with those you love. We intended to rent a different location every six months but this one worked out so well we choose to come here time and again. The house is well equipped, clean, perfectly decorated and the outdoors speak for themselves. We can sit out on the porch or by the fire pit and listen to the river flow. It's very peaceful. I am one of the many travelers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. My Fiance and I are living in Seattle, WA and planned to have an intimate wedding with family and friends at The River Haven vacation rental in Sequin, Texas. We had our dates booked for about a year, bags packed, and all of our vendors ready to go. The week prior to our arrival the reports started of healthcare workers in Seattle contracting the virus in large numbers. At that point, we decided to self quarantine to try to keep everyone safe at our wedding. I am someone who works closely with healthcare workers and inside hospitals here in the epicenter of the outbreak and as someone who had recently developed a cough and general exhaustion - my Fiance and I had to weigh the risks of traveling across country to spend a weekend in close quarters with not only our older grandparents and parents but also with a high risk friend who had recently been in the hospital with pneumonia. We decided to not risk possibly infecting anyone unknowingly and risk anyone getting sick or worse. That same week Seattle went under stay at home orders per our Governor's mandate. At that time, we reached out to Darius Kuehne (one of the owners) to ask for a refund or a rescheduling of dates in hopes of being met with understanding of how incredibly unpredictable this entire situation was, we got quite the opposite. We booked with Kuehne because on his home's website he states that if something were to happen causing us to need to cancel or re-book, he would open up our dates so that they could potentially be booked by someone else and we could receive our money back. So we asked him to do so and he responded that he would. He did not. We checked the listing a couple days after asking him to open up our dates and they displayed as unavailable, meaning someone couldn't book those dates if they wanted to. We reached out to see why and he confirmed that what we saw was correct; the dates were not available to be booked by anyone. In light of this and considering that we were only a few days out from our would-be wedding dates, we preemptively asked about changing our dates or possibly getting back the cleaning fees at a minimum since logically no one is there to clean up after - this is where things went off the tracks. VRBO/HomeAway created a COVID-19 policy to help owners and travelers work together to find the best solution during this time. In the policy it states upon giving us a full refund or a 50% refund VRBO will work with owners to offset lost funds from cancellations. They also will reward owners if they choose to opt for giving travelers future credit. Kuehne refused to be adaptable in this situation; no refunds, no future credit. He seemed to not care and at that point he began outright ignoring us when we asked about what our possibilities would be under this new policy. We never heard back from him and we remained booked for our dates - I'm not sure how it would have worked had we decided to go down there and use our dates as just us when our host was actively giving us the silent treatment but that's a question for another day. Writing this review 2 months later and still under stay-at-home orders, I've had time to think on what I learned from this and it's something I think we could all benefit from. Covid-19 has shined a light on those who choose to put greed over people, over safety, and over lives. I say this because Darius would not be affected monetarily to be a decent person in this situation but nonetheless, he chose to ignore us and keep the money. During a time when we have to consciously work to think about others, we should be showing up for each other when the right thing to do is clear. I will leave you all with this: there are plenty of lakes, rivers, and big houses in Texas. You don't have to spend your hard earned money on a guy with ethics like this. We read some poor reviews on this place and decided to move forward with them anyway but I wish we didn't at this point. Hopefully this will help anyone on the fence about this place. read more

Not wheelchair accessible as advertised. My dad couldn't shower all weekend. For 4 days in Texas heat. He couldn't get in or out of home. Couldn't barely get to a toilet. The bedrooms were all connected and you had walk thru other people sleeping to go outside or to the bathroom. It smelled inside and outside. By some sort of plant processing center. Dock lights don't work as shown in pictures. Not worth the money and not as advertised on VRBO. read more

Unfortunately it was advertised as wheelchair and walker accessible, ha! Not even close, the plant across the street released fumes in the air and who knows into the water, which is not clear water at all, and the plant was very noisy too, there were wasp infesting the dock, something dripped onto our luggage in the closet all night long from the ceiling and the beds are not comfortable at all. The walk down to water is not paved nor accessible for those with additional needs. And the house leans to one side, bad foundation. It was awkward going to the different levels of the house, i wouldn't stay here again read more
