We've been regulars at Sons Geronimo, but this last stay was incredibly disappointing. Our cabin's AC wasn't working from the moment we checked in on Thursday, and despite multiple messages and visits from staff, it was never fixed during our 3-night stay. The staff on the text line (especially Daniela and Kaylee) were polite and tried to help, but the issue was beyond their control. We were repeatedly told a technician was coming, offered temporary cabins for the night, and given portable AC units that barely cooled one side of the cabin. By the second night we had three adults and a toddler staying in a hot, uncomfortable cabin. Even after constant communication, the AC unit was never replaced, and the portable solutions leaked and couldn't keep up. We spent much of the trip waiting for answers instead of relaxing. When I called management after checking out, I was told only Rachel could authorize a refund, but she was on vacation. When I finally spoke with her, she was dismissive and offered only 50% back or a partial credit, saying she saw camera footage of us "using the amenities" as proof we still enjoyed our stay -- which was offensive after how miserable the cabin conditions were. I want to make clear that the on-site staff and text support team were kind and empathetic, but management's handling of the situation was unacceptable. Our vacation was consumed by a broken AC, unresolved maintenance issues, and poor follow-up. I won't be returning, and I strongly suggest future guests think twice before booking. If things go wrong, you might not get proper help -- only excuses. Also just to note a lot of the cabins are lacking in condition, but for the winter price it's bearable. Either way after this experience there's better places to vacation at. read more

Sons Geronimo: the good, the bad and the ugly. Honestly, overall we had a good time because we made our minds up to make the most of our trip and brought some of our own entertainment. Cabins are pretty decent quality. Love that you have a bathroom inside and the porch out back is big and nice once the sun starts going down. Kitchenette had pots, pans, a two burner electric stove top you plug in, a toaster and blender and coffee maker plus a few other odds and ends. Beds were so-so, my parents said theirs was too hard, I thought they were too soft. They were the exact same type of bed. But you're "glamping" so it's a step up from an air mattress and did the job. AC/heater mini split worked well. Turned it on immediately upon arrival because it was 90 something and it cooled off quickly. The second night it got down to 40 something and the heater kept us comfortable. We weren't able to use the firepit since there was a burn ban but were told we could use Charcoal in grills to cook as long as there were no high uncontrollable winds. Although I saw some people having straight up bonfires. There's a picnic table on the back patio with some other patio furniture. I noticed that while most of the cabins had picnic tables and fire pits up front that a couple looked like they shared them. Like first come first served. There were like 3 big hammocks out behind the cabins, one of which was completely tattered and unusable. I did like that they had someone come around and clean out the ash out of the grills while we were there. The water is not right in front of the cabins, you have to walk down to the front of the park and across the street. You share the same part of the creek as the camp across the street. The kayaks and paddleboard (both limited availability since there are only a few of each) were just kinda scattered when we got there as were the life jackets. Some paddle boards were just left down the river. It was hard to tell at the end of the day which belonged to sons geronimo and which belonged to the place across the creek. The creek went down a decent ways but not super long. Glad we went before summer since there were already a ton of bugs the further you went down the creek. I can only imagine how bad the mosquitoes would be at that time. Website says there's Fishing but the one dock there is where you get on and off the kayaks so there's really not a lot of bank space to cast a pole but we tried. There are a couple of picnic tables down there as well as scattered around the campground. There was sand volleyball and a sand box for kids next to it but almost all the kids plastic toys in the sandbox were broken or just plastic remnants of what once was. The pool area had two hot tubs, one of which was warm and one of which was not, both looked a little dirty lots of leaves in them. Attempted to get in one of the pools even though it was freezing. Stayed in for a bit. There were 3 small covered areas in there with tables and chairs. There was also a basketball court, corn hole and horse shoes. The game room was air conditioned. Ping pong was fun, there was also a pool table and a shuffle board with like no sand...maybe a handfull if that. And there's a pond..or the beginnings of a pond with no water really. It's just a huge hole in the ground. We planned accordingly for the possibility of high winds/burn ban, we brought board games, a kite, playdoh, croquet, and water guns so we improvised and made our own fun for us and the kids in between other things. So really it's what you make of it. We booked with a discount code so that made it better, but I probably wouldn't pay full price to stay here, especially during a burn ban. read more

I spent a day and night at Son's Geronimo. My friends and I had a nice time. We stayed in two different cabins. The cabins have two queens and two twin size beds. A kitchen with a center counter/table for preparing and eating meals. Cups and mugs are provided, and washing soap and sponge to wash the dishes in the sink. Next to the sink is a large standard refrigerator with a freezer. There are plenty of cupboards to store dry food. A microwave in the cabin as well. AC and heaters are in the cabins, with remote control so the guests can make adjustments. A 55" TV is mounted on the wall. Front doors have a keypad to gain entrance. There's a restroom with a shower. Towels are provided. On the back porch, there is a covered patio with a picnic bench and wicker chairs. In the front of the cabin, there is a large metal fire pit with several wicker chairs surrounding. On the side of each cabin, there is a BBQ. In the middle of the cabin grounds, there are game rooms. Pool table, shuffle board, ping pong, and others. Outside, there's a basketball court, horseshoe pits, volleyball court and an area with a swimming pool, wading pool, and a tiny pool. A short walk to the river where there are kayaks and other entertainments. Each cabin has parking for one vehicle. There's parking in other areas. I rate Son's Geronimo 5-stars because there's a lot to be offered to their guests, and because we had a good time. read more

I am writing this review based on an incident with bed bugs and the truly bad customer service or lack thereof that followed. I stayed in Cabin# 2 on Apr 4-6th with my mother and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was nice and we had a great time relaxing. During the stay my mother and I both received a few bites but did not think anything of it as we have no experience with bed bugs. After returning from the trip I broke out all over my body with bites. On April 11th it was so bad that I went to the doctors and they told me it was bed bugs. Apparently bed bug bites can keep appearing up to 14 days later. That same day I called Son's Geronimo and informed them of the bed bug situation. I had asked to speak to a manager because I just wanted to confirm it would be taken care of so this didn't happen to anyone else. I wasn't upset, I understood bed bugs can happen. The woman I spoke to asked me to send photos and information to the site email so her manager can take a look and call me back. Later that same day I sent all documentation to the provided email. I received no msg or call back. On May 10th I emailed again requesting a follow up and still heard nothing at all. In the middle of May despite having cleaned and taken preventative measures for the possibility I brought bed bugs home I began receiving bites at home. My luggage had been right by the infested bed and I ended up bringing bed bugs home. Upon looking back at the situation we realized that the bed my mother was sleeping on had a plastic mattress cover and mine did not. Which leads me to believe that they were aware of the bugs in the cabin at some point and that they spread. She was bitten only a few times where I had over 20 bites. After not receiving any contact back I was concerned that Son's wasn't addressing this and handling the infestation so I contacted the department of state health and reported the situation (following their website guidelines) on May 28th. I also emailed Son's one last time notifying them I had sent in a report. I again did not receive any email or call back. On June 20th I called Son's again and asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred to Kiara and despite the fact that I started the conversation off nicely she was immediately hostile and rude to me. She immediately referenced that I had reported them to the state health dept and when I said I did because I hadn't received any contact from them she said an email had been sent on May 30th saying that they inspected the unit and there were no bed bugs. I had never received the email so I asked her to resend it to me and she said she cannot because it was already deleted from their account. During this whole time she just kept asking "what did I want out of this conversation" and was very rude. I asked her for a copy of the inspection report from the pest company and she said she does not have to legally give me that. I then asked again for her to at least send me what was said in the original email and she said she would if it would make me stop, however I still have not received anything. She again kept saying what did I want out of this so I told her I would like a refund for my stay since I have spent hundreds of dollars and tons of time dealing with this. She said they couldn't give a refund since I stayed both nights and didn't report it then. I explained I didn't know the bites were from bed bugs yet but I had received them while there. Her exact response was "so you got a couple of bites while CAMPING". She ended the conversation by asking me if this was over and if the calls and emails would stop. I have never had such a horrible experience with anyone in customer service, and will never stay at another son's location again due to this experience. read more

My husband booked 4 nights here for my Birthday! We had a blast. It was so relaxing. The grounds are serene and beautiful! It's very quiet even tho there were a lot of kids. The cabins were HUGE! We used the hot tub and the kids area as well as the game room. Everything was in really good shape. The kayaking was good. It was a small area but the kids had a blast. Can't ask for more. We also went to the fishing area. The night before we were supposed to leave my mother broke her back by the river so we had to cut it short. Overall, it was an excellent visit. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! The so called birdhouse cabins and property amenities at Sons Geronimo are not as advertised on the website or facebook page. There is no kayaking and paddle boards onsite, these cabins are not on the water and not like the pictures, the pool area and cabanas are a joke! We arrived and checked in on Sunday 6/29. We immediately regretted booking a stay here. Our cabin (#5) looked as though it was previously broken into. The doors did not fully close or stay closed unless the lock was latched. A big cockroach greeted us. The bath towels were brown and seemed dirty. There was mold on the back wall cover. Just disgusting!! We brought our concerns to the office about not feeling safe and asked if they would work with us on a refund. The workers stated that they have a strict no refund policy and that the manager was not available. How convenient for them. No one ever reached out to me to follow up. We gathered our things and choked up the losses and found a better, more safe location to stay. I do not recommend this place! I'd rather stay in my car. read more

This place is just OK for $99 a night. There's no way it's worth more. It's unfortunate because if they repaired/updated/completed the listed amenities, it could be AWESOME and WORTH the price! The pond STILL isn't completed 2 years after our first visit back in 2022. The pool was at least surrounded this time by a wall of some sort that seemed to keep the sand and leaves out. The community restrooms/showers are woefully incomplete and unfinished. This makes me wonder how many people are actually getting out of the pool and going to their tents to use the restroom. Especially in cold weather. We would have liked to sit in the hot tubs during this chilly weather, but if I have to trek back to the tent for the restroom, I'm not going back to the hot tub when it's cold. They have a building that COULD be a pretty neat community gathering space, but the doors don't work (don't close to keep the cold weather out). In addition, there's a busted piano present, trash, and dilapidated couches in there currently. There's also a TV, but I didn't check to see if it works. What a waste of a potentially fun space! The game room was alright aside from no chairs to sit in and needing a major sweeping. The kayak area was alright, but the life jackets were scattered all around the ground and were very faded and worn out. Surely someone tends to the ground daily, even in the off-season? I suppose you could use them in colder weather, but we didn't bother because of the condition of the life jackets. The creek, itself, offered a very pleasant bank to walk along. As it was very cold, I couldn't say if it was good for swimming or not. It WAS clean, though! If it was warm, I'd probably swim in it! The hammocks were a nice touch and enjoyable. The kitchen was supplied decently enough, but the hot plate was filthy. I had to buy a can opener and ended up just leaving it for the next visitors. Some ice cube trays would also be nice. Also, the cabin is surprisingly well insulated, and we were comfortable the entire time. I've never stayed here during peak season, but for the peak season asking price, there's no way I would. Update to add: their rental agreements and waivers were a pain to deal with. I signed multiple documents multiple times: at the time of reservation and in response to the emailed link, in addition, I even emailed the signed copy THEY sent me BACK to them, and still kept being told I hadn't signed the agreement. Between 2 visits, scheduled for only one week apart, I received 10 emails requesting I sign the already-signed rental agreements. This was for a reservation made 15 days before our visit. That's ridiculous. Smooth out that process, and things would be way better. read more

I would definitely book again, my 5yr old son did not want to leave. The inside is bigger than what it looks on the inside. I did not realize there is several locations nearby for you to book at. I was a little sad that the location where you can do the kayaking/paddle boarding at is really deep (I think they said 10ft deep right from the dock) so I was not able to enjoy those amenities. But we did walk a little bit to a nearby creek and then with our reservation it included the pool/hot tub so we just spent the afternoon there. The other disappointment is that I thought I was booking a cabin that was from the website & it was not- the one shown on the website looks more kid friendly to enjoy the river. Not sure what location that was to reserve from but it was not at Sons Geronimo. Overall, it was still good & I would definitely come again- maybe next time NO kids haha! When we arrived, appearance's look deceiving. The cabin that my wife and I stayed was fine. My daughter and her families cabin was still a mess, housekeeping hadn't even cleaned that cabin and it was already after 3:00 pm. After walking around, we found electrical wires hanging from trees by the river, we found wires sticking out from the ground, and the pond was dried up. Then we were told that we are to stay on our side of the property, yet people from the other property were going to our side to the pool. Didn't quite understand that. I did enjoy myself since the whole family was all there having a good time, but not to sure if I would want to go back. If I do end up going back, I would call to make sure everything is fixed and everything they have to offer is up to date. read more

We have loved sons, as we have stayed there twice this year. We rave about it to our friends. BUT, we only just discovered the pool in the morning as we were checking out and we're there after 11. We were forcefully and rudely asked to get out of the pool since we had exceeded our 11 am check out time. I asked if we could just stay another 30 minutes and we're denied and told that we could pay an additional 79.00 for a day pass . That's $20.00 less than the overnight cabin cost . It was a blistering 105 degree morning . So guests beware !! We love this place , but that interaction left a very sour taste in our mouths. read more

This place is awful. Don't get duped by the pictures. Very very low class, not quality accommodations. Several things to note you will not get an early check-in unless you pay for it even if the rooms are ready. #2 make sure the Wi-Fi is working, they insure us it would be and it is not! They said it will not be working until Monday and there's nothing they will do about it. Zero, zero, zero customer service we will never be back. My family and I were super excited to stay at the cabins, this would be our first trip to this location. We got off to a rough start driving from Houston and having some car troubles. Being just 30 minutes away from the cabins our car alternator went out. Long story short after a long stressful day and getting a car rental at the airport because everything else was closed, we finally were able to reach the cabins at 7:30 pm instead of 3:30 pm like planned. We decided that despite the circumstances we were gonna have a great time. The cabins are lovely and the atmosphere was really relaxing, we enjoyed making s'mores that night. We decided in the morning we would wake up early kayak etc, since we didn't get to do anything and we only stayed one night. I told my husband let's make this a yearly family trip, all our kids agreed. We had a late checkout (noon) instead of (11:00) which somehow Rick (the manager) nor the housekeeper were aware of. We showed Rick our confirmation and he said no problem. The housekeepers just waited on the porch at the cabin next to us until we got our things out. After we left in less than an hour, my husband realized he left his wallet. He called Rick and told him. He said the housekeeper didn't turn anything in which we found so strange. Shortly after that Rick told my husband that he checked under all the mattresses and he didn't find anything. We were puzzled because we know it had to be there. He told us that he would have let us check ourselves, but someone already was occupying the cabin. After 5 days the morning we returned to Houston Rick called my husband and said the housekeepers turned in the wallet and it was between the mattress. Rick himself sounded puzzled saying but "I"checked there for myself and that wasn't there. Anyway, he said he would mail it to us which we were grateful. We received the wallet in 2 days. When my husband opened his wallet all his IDs, credit cards, etc were scattered all around. Now my husband is very particular with his wallet he puts everything in a certain place. When he looked where he tucked $200.00, it was gone. He had (2) $100 bills that were for food/emergency money to use on the trip. My husband texted Rick thanking him for sending the wallet, and told him about the missing money and how his cards were all scattered and his wallet was definitely searched through. To this day a month after we have not heard anything back. It's very sad/scary to know that the housekeepers are dishonest. Sadly this was our first and last time we would visit this location since it has dishonest workers and we would definitely not feel comfortable leaving our belongings knowing this. Honestly was not worth the price of almost $800 just for 2 nights, The pictures from Facebook are very deceiving. We thought it would be more bigger but it was honestly a small property with the cabins like 6 feet apart from each other. The creek there was very tiny , About A five minute kayak ride. The pools were very hot and small, The hot tubs were perfect tho. We definitely enjoy ourselves and made the best out of it. We made really good friends with the manager who stayed on the property too. Also if you didn't know if you're staying at this cabin you can get two free unlimited passes to the Sons blue river ranch!! We went tubing & kayaking there! read more

Booked a cabin for our family to celebrate our boys birthdays. The cabin was cute, but the photos of the grounds are pretty much false advertisement. I booked the cabin by the pond (per their map) there is NO POND, it's a huge whole in the ground with yellow tape around it. Eye sore, the pool was filthy dirty as was jacuzzi so you could not go in. The water was really bad, very small area to kayak (which were being used by the other campsite). Paddle boards were not inflated very well and sank when you tried to stand on them. The best part about this place was the cabin, so if you only want to go relax, and not float, or use amenities...this place is good. Otherwise book elsewhere as the pictures make it look amazing. We stayed in the cabins and enjoyed our stay. The cabin was not super clean and kitchen not as fully stocked as I expected but it was adequate. I did think it was pretty gross that the sponge supplied for dishwashing was also used by the previous guests. (We stopped at the store and purchased a new one). The pool was OK and the creek area fun to swim in. Based on the website advertising we were looking forward to paddle boarding. Unfortunately there was only one and used by other guests when we were there. We drove to sons blue river and rented a cabana for the day which was great. We stayed 3 nights but I think 2 would've been plenty. read more

My wife and I stayed two nights at Geronimo in May. The cabins are actually just insulated tents on an elevated floor. Ours smelled and had dirty rags on the counter when we arrived. We talked to customer service who assured us someone would come and clean the place up that day, but the rags were never taken. Later, that night, the keypad lock on our front door was malfunctioning so we were locked out. Customer service was called again and this time the property manager was sent out, only to have him tell us that we have to push against the door with great force in order for it to lock/unlock (even though it had worked fine earlier). We waited at least 45 minutes and had to use another guest's restroom during that time. The map on the website shows amenities that did/do not actually exist yet (like a pond which was just a big dry hole in the ground and may still be for all I know), so, false advertisement. The tree house, according to the property manager, was found to be occupied by squatters from Louisiana at some point during a guest's stay--not safe for kids. Other existing amenities like the kayaks, life jackets, and pool table are dirty and in very worn condition or are straight up broken. Fishing is also listed as an activity you can do, but the river is just a shallow, narrow stream where it is accessible on foot, so don't expect to catch anything big, if anything at all. Definitely a let down, even when discounted. read more

This place did not disappoint! It had all the amenities we needed to make full meals and the sleeping areas was so big! The kids loved it. We had a balcony that we would drink our morning coffee on and ate dinner. They had a club room that had a pool table, fooseball and shuffleboard for the kids. There was a basketball court that the kids used everyday. There were plenty of little trails to walk and lots of room for my grandson to use his remote control RC truck. Our family of 5 decided to get away for Thanksgiving, we spent a long weekend at Sons Geronimo, and had a fantastic time! The weather was cooler than most years, however, the we took advantage of the heated pool and hot tubs. We spent our evenings in the grilling, sitting around a fire pit, roasting marshmallows, and enjoying our family time. The cabin was extremely clean and cozy, the beds were very comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. My favorite part was drinking wine on the back patio with my husband, which opens to a peaceful creek view of the sunset. The kids really enjoyed playing pool and shuffle board in the game room, and the basketball court also kept my boys busy, while I enjoyed relaxing and reading my book in the hammock. I can't wait to go back this summer, and will remember to bring fishing poles, as we saw some nice size fish in the creek. There was so much to do, yet so relaxing! Poor service all around. Only one paddle board that was not aired up all the way. Locks on the kayaks and paddle board changed constantly so never knew the combination and no one around to ask. Had to call the reservation number to ask for lock codes and everything else bc there was no one on property available. Very poor signage as to what buildings were what as far as rec rooms laundry rooms or just empty buildings. Pool table was missing balls so only one table available to play and river was dirty and only good for fishing if you like to fish. Not impressed with the advertising of this place making it seem clean and fun. It was the opposite. We were not allowed to go to the other side of the water bank but yet had to share the same swimming hole. The impression was that the resort on the other side did not like Sons Geronimo resort damaging their boards etc that was their reason why they only had one paddle board. We'd previously rented a cabana at Son's Island and we had an enjoyable experience, so we decided to do it again this year. This year we rented a cabana for the day @Sons Blue River Camp and a treehouse @ Son's Geronimo. We were so excited to celebrate my mother-in-laws 89th birthday, but they totally let us down this year. We received an email just before our scheduled reservation telling us that their construction on advertised amenities was running behind so it would be off limits, but we could drive to sister property to utilize those amenities, only to find out some of their amenities were also not able to be used. BUMMER!!! My wife called to get more details and see if there were other options. She ended up speaking to 2 different managers on duty (Maria and Valerie) both were extremely rude and even raised their voices at my wife like this was her fault. The final outcome we cancelled all our reservations with both properties and decided to do something different. WARNING!!! Please inquire about all advertised amenities PRIOR to making reservation, since we didn't get email until we were within cancellation policy and they were trying to withhold our money for cancelling. We did get our money back but only after being treated so poorly, we will NEVER book with them again. Too many other cool places along the River to give our business to. read more

as previous reviewer we had also rented a cabana at sons blue island and we had a lovely experience so we wanted to try out this new place :( it was a big disappointment. When I call in to book this place, the lady NEVER TOLD ME they had construction going on or about the No river amenities .. when you book they told you there are no refunds but they can reschedule with a fee !! well little did I know what a disappointment it was going to be.. driving 4 hrs paying almost 500.00 for 2-day stay. oh they do offer 2 wristbands because they have construction going on on the place, but you are advised of it after you book and you are told thru an email. When we arrived at the place we were trying to get wifi or the tv on we call the 1877 number and were going to send the manager in. She did came and told us there was no wifi that it was a new construction & that they are building a pond. 1st day after arrival we walked thru the back of the glamping cabins to take a look at the river jajajaja no river just sinked water :( we had to walk about 600 ft to another place where they do have a larger river and those cabins were u see the river well only 2 cabins have that view. not all cabins have that view .2nd day we had to do the 20 min driver to their sonsriver island which was a better place to swim and spend the day at but we had to drive 20 min then we ended up renting their tents for shades so we pay $100 more for tent :( so IF YOUR PLANNING ON GOING WAIT ABOUT 4 MONTH TILL THEY FINISH CONTRUCTION AND THEY HAVE AVAILABLE WIFI AND AMMENITIES .. they have very few amenities, its a 2-month place so NO INTERNET, THE RIVER IS NOT ACROSS THE GLAMPING CABINS IS FURTHER SO WHERE THE GLAMPING CABINS THERE IS 2 SMALL SWIMMING POOLS WITH 2 HOT TUBS, A Basketball court with very little lighting and a volleyball court, a ping pong table and a game room with a billiard table. We did not see the sauna that they picture on the ad. we ask the lady the password for wifi and she said there is no so ur stuck in a place with no signal or very little signal :( no tv they do have one DVD player with 1 movie. glamping cabin is lovely was the only thing nice.
