I was never told -- I only found out when I was blocked at the door. They kept my £125 joining fee, left me without access for a week, and have dragged me through over a month of back-and-forth lies and contradictions. They're now even emailing me from Mill Hill saying I "haven't cancelled" when I clearly have. As a disabled person, I find this not only retaliatory but also discriminatory. For a company charging nearly £300/month, to treat members this way -- silencing complaints, cancelling memberships without notice, keeping money, and refusing accountability -- is beyond disgraceful. Avoid at all costs.

I vow to never poke fun at you again, you devoted bike devil messengers. Because if you can conquer a spinning class more than once a week, you can definitely kick my ass. I admit it. You are much tougher than I. I'm a runner. A whimpy runner. But as you know, conditions aren't exactly perfect for leisurely jaunt 'round the green on these blustery London mornings or freezing evenings (read: dark afternoons). So I've become somewhat of a gym rat. However I'm apparently not the only person to make this discovery, and often finding a machine at peek times is quite challenging. So I've started taking more classes, thus the spinning ordeal, which I now can't give up until I defeat it. (Or can at least keep up.) Anyway -- this Virgin Active location is definitely a commuter's hot spot that gets busy in the mornings and evenings, but with decent class selections and an über convenient location, this central London gym is clutch for all of my resolutions and shapely fantasies.

SQUASH COURTS: Two International Singles Squash Courts...good for casual games and practice only. They are in OK condition. Lighting in Court A is a little dark and cement walls there have not been cleaned for a long time. Court B has a great floor, good lighting, clean walls, but has two plaster spots on front wall...bad enough that it caused interference with play over the course of two hours. It will hopefully be repaired soon. Court time is nominal and charged at certain hours. Pre-booking recommended, especially on weekends. Fitness Training: Lots of machines and free weights. Treadmills and more abound this modern updated facility. Cold, filtered water free, bring your favorite bottle with you .nice floor exercise/ stretch area. Big gym for classes, which there seems to be plenty. Don't ow about costs here. The reception desk has got you covered for all the odds and ends one could forget to bring...towels, soap, shampoos, sport drinks, and much more all available cheap. COFFEE SHOP: In the lobby of the theatre is a coffee shop that has some nice snacks and drinks after your workout. I found this to be a great convenience for that post workout sports drink..and again at student-like pricing. This was a good find and with good hours close to Russell Square. They have reasonable passes to accommodate most schedules and budgets to include day passes.

These are all individual clients that have visited our club on a one off visit. Last year we were finalist in the national fitness awards for our involvement in the community. Our biggest donation was £8500 which we paid to sports relief. Our staff are qualified to Reps level 3 and as the owner I am level4. Thank to the individual for his or her comments. But I prefer to listen to my members who have helped me build a strong club that supports the East Barnet community.

Gyms cost bucks, always have and really put me off with all their contracts and what not....until…read morethe gym world realised they are missing a trick, poorer peps/cheap skates have the right to fitness too and hey presto, the cheap gym is born. Saw a mahoosive sign for this gym one Saturday so ventured into a very unknown world of sweat and exercise...(as have wedding dress to shed poundage for). Was impressed with all they had to offer which included all classes for £15 a month (except Zumba, the cult)...bargins and NO contract, just cancel you direct debit should the fad pass. Sweet. Singed up online, easy, booked induction, online.....easy. Had my index finger print photographed (after being promted as to which finger this was) Went and worked out after said induction..... Hard work and slog. But mucho joy. The gift of slimness has entered my life. Have tried a couple of classes here too and they are really good, even teaching 2 of us during the day without cancelling/whining their wasnt more attending. Ace for the gym but very embarrassing for me as I was shite and couldnt hide anywhere. Machines are all good, in great condition and there are plenty....air con and cool tunes keep you going. Only complaint is changing room is too hot but they are fixing this as I type. Skinny Nic here I come.....

A great option in Watford, considering the lack of gyms. There are lots of classes to choose from…read moreincluding a spin studio. My gripe with this gym is that is feels a bit dirty and grimey. The decor and machines are all a bit outdated. Could do with a boost. It's fine though for a budget and if you're not concerned with top of the range facilities.

This gym had a much needed refurbishment at the start of the year, sadly the new colour scheme is…read moregrey....and grey....with splashes of red here and there....oh how I long for the bright colour scheme of old! I've been a member of this gym for about 7 years now (you wouldn't think it to look at me!) and things have definitely changed. Sadly not all for the better. The childrens pool seems to be out of order a few times a month (not a big deal to me, don't have kiddies but can see it being a deal breaker if you get junior all the way there and they don't have the fun pool to play in!). Changing rooms are kept pretty clean - you need to have a padlock for your locker - and they've tried to keep an area of the changing room child free....though sadly most of the kiddies (and their grown ups!) don't seem to be able to read the sign.... A victim of the refurb was the ladies weights area. I'm not sure why, it was pretty well used. Clearly the spin studio and 'skill zone' areas were far more important to them so now we just have to put up with being amongst the grunty men while we tone our muscles....another downside is that the weights machines do feel somewhat cramped together now as the space has been reallocated for other uses. The upside - there are lots of treadmills (though at peak times - like Monday evenings - you'll be lucky to get straight onto one!), bikes, cross trainers and rowing machines....the spin studio is now enclosed so you don't have to hear the instructor waffling on and on nor have two different types of music trying to seep through your headphones! The skill zone has new and very entertaining trixster bikes (simulates a mountain bike course for those of you afraid of the outdoors like me...) TRX training systems and a skill wall (you know, the lights come on and you have to jump around hitting them off....I dunno the proper name!). There are plenty of tennis courts (book in advance), a large pool with lane swimming, For the popular classes (like spin) you'll need to book in advance and get there early or you'll find all the bikes reserved with towels and water bottles! I haven't tried many of the other classes, the schedule isn't great for someone who can't get there til 7pm of an evening, and having had previous miserable class experiences I am wary of some of the instructors, nonetheless the classes seem popular so I guess it's just me!! Money wise you're going to pay for this upgrade in facilities! Current full membership is around £83 a month although you can sign up for a year and reduce that a little (be aware of when your cancellation date is though otherwise you will automatically get rolled over for another year!).

And their kids facilities are great. Both creche and classes. Current favourite new toy there is the Trixter Xdream videogame cycle - you have a videogame screen in front of you, and you race against computer generated competitors or real people. Resistance decreases and increases according to gradient, terrain and gears. I should be there now, really, racing against the machine - instead of slumped here, writing about all the food I've been eating.

There are a wide range of classes and various levels of membership available. You can also choose to pay as you go which is a great way to try it out. The pool looked good. I tried out the salsa aerobics class which was fun, popular and the instructor was great - full of energy and enthusiasm, and it was a great class. The only downside is that apparently the "spa" bit - jacuzzis etc - is closed indefinitely.
