Paul in particular and the really friendly and helpful members made me feel welcome and were happy to help me and had the patience to demonstrate things too. And I'm happy to say it's worth the drive and then some! The owner Paul is somewhat of a legend in strongman, with years of experience as a trainer, competitor and therapist and along with his wife Julie, team and regular gym members, I've seen excellent gains in strength and technique in a very short period of time and even competed already with the confidence they've instilled in me. The gym itself is more than comprehensive, I was able to practice virtually all events ahead of the day and more (with constant guidance, support and advice given throughout) - yoke, log press, farmer's walk, car deadlift, truck pull and I've only scratched the surface so far. Beyond that they have a full gym component of more traditional equipment to boot such as bench, squat rack and so on (though I've never tried them, the allure of strongman there keeps me fixed!). They also have regular event and conditioning session throughout the week to help you focus on your technique, a vital resource for understanding and progressing on each movement. So glad I found CFFP Watford and the family spirit they have there, it's ideal for first timers like me all the way up to the pros, and you'll have a laugh along the way!
