The reason I only give it 3 stars is the lack of diversity in the classes and the fact that classes are held on the gym floor as opposed to a study room. Also there is no spin studio which would be great. If you are interested in free weights and cardio machines this is a great option but if you're interested in a mix of classes I'd give it a miss. On an Induction tour, I had a quick look at the gym which had the usual modern gym equipment with a few TV screens. Not one of the biggest gyms I've seen, but seemed okay for the number of people using it. The swimming pool, was a bit too small for my liking. Its not a full length pool, and can get quite busy at times. The changing rooms are quite modern, and the sauna and steam rooms are larger than other gyms I've been to. Overall, the changing rooms, are better equipped and designed than most other gyms I've been to. Overall verdict, convenient if you live and work in Ealing, but otherwise I would go for a bigger club, for more space.

Paul in particular and the really friendly and helpful members made me feel welcome and were happy to help me and had the patience to demonstrate things too. Fast forward to now and I am 22kilos lighter due to the professional expertise and advice from paul and have competed in many strong woman comps getting two 3rd places! The comradery is great with loads of encouragement and paul and members even come along and support me in the comps. I never knew I could lose all this weight, enjoy exercising and competing at the age of 48!

And I'm happy to say it's worth the drive and then some! The owner Paul is somewhat of a legend in strongman, with years of experience as a trainer, competitor and therapist and along with his wife Julie, team and regular gym members, I've seen excellent gains in strength and technique in a very short period of time and even competed already with the confidence they've instilled in me. The gym itself is more than comprehensive, I was able to practice virtually all events ahead of the day and more (with constant guidance, support and advice given throughout) - yoke, log press, farmer's walk, car deadlift, truck pull and I've only scratched the surface so far. Beyond that they have a full gym component of more traditional equipment to boot such as bench, squat rack and so on (though I've never tried them, the allure of strongman there keeps me fixed!). They also have regular event and conditioning session throughout the week to help you focus on your technique, a vital resource for understanding and progressing on each movement. So glad I found CFFP Watford and the family spirit they have there, it's ideal for first timers like me all the way up to the pros, and you'll have a laugh along the way!

Despite it being a small space there is a full range of equipment from treadmills, cross trainers and bikes. There are only four rowing machines but they are in the Spin studio so they are always free. There is even the ubiquitous time wasters in the weights room but if you are patient the equipment eventually becomes free. The only problems are the poor air conditioning in summer which makes it feel that you are doing Bikram yoga and the general crowdedness of the place once the City finishes work at 6.

One good thing about this gym is their classes. 45 minutes long but you would have to call and book, which I think is a little silly, I've only walked in to a spin class once but don't know how the other classes work in terms of walking in. Shower, sauner, and towels. Ah, towels. I have been given towels several times until one night this lady told me I had to pay £1. WHAT? So supposedly if you're not a Black Member or don't have some kind of corporate membership, you would have to pay £1 for towel- as if the paying for this gym isn't expensive already in London. This gym also closes on weekends. Opens 6:30-9PM, and crowd usually dies down around 7.

When I came to cancel (after the 12 months) they highlighted the three months notice period so I had to fork out for that too. Not best amused! Apparently I could have started my notice at month 9.
