    The mall - VN

Oh, The Rink. Forget that you're not a shopper's paradise. Forget that you're not a foodie's heaven. What you are, on top of anything else, is a life saver! Well, maybe not that extreme, but you were a comforter to me, my spouse, and the rest of our Garden District tour group! LOL. Being in NOLA, in June, it was unimaginably hot and muggy. Luckily for us, the mid-point of our tour was awarded a refreshing break in the cool confines of your walls. Though we did nothing but fan ourselves and try to end our panting, my Yelpatitis did kick in enough to mosey around to discover a coffee shop, souvenirs galore, realtor offices, makeup retail, clothing sales and a nostalgic bookstore. Fret not, some people did contribute to your economy. OVERALL: The Rink is a total "necessity" mall for the locals. Travelers like us found it as a welcomed rest stop.

A small, but cute little shopping area that's indoors. There seemed to be about 5 or 6 shops and a few realtor offices. Hours were a bit strange (10-7) and we were there before they opened so we could only see things through the windows. TIP - there is a public bathroom here with a small fee of $.25. If you want to use a free bathroom go to the Perk and buy something.

Great place to shop and drink some coffee. A gem to find in the middle of the garden district.

The location is the biggest plus, right along the Mississippi with easy access from the French Quarter and Warehouse District. Walking along the river after shopping is definitely the highlight. The store selection is hit or miss. There are a few recognizable brands and some decent deals if you're patient, but overall the variety is limited compared to larger outlet centers. Some spaces feel underutilized, and it can feel a bit quiet at times. It's somewhat clean and easy to navigate, which makes it a comfortable break from the New Orleans heat. That said, unless you're nearby or killing time, it's not something I'd go out of my way for.

This is a really great place to shop, there are over 75 eateries restaurants and retail stores here, there is a Cafe Du Mundo even here too. The Red cable car, plus the Hop on and off tour bus make stops a few steps from the entrance. This is also a wonderful place to just cool off from NOLA hot and Humidity weather plus people watch.

It is pretty straight forward, but the general population likes to make things difficult. This is fairly new (within the last 5 years or so), and is a better use of the area than what was here before. It is so easy to park, as all of the stores are within a short walking distance. I would suggest shopping here during the week as the weekends can be hectic, as well as the major holiday shopping times (or back to school times). The stores in this strip mall are major national chains, but just not easily accessible for driving or finding a parking spot. Go to the suburbs where the parking lots are larger.

Yay for keeping tax dollars in the city. The shops were all clean and the parking lot was a little bit tight on the grand opening weekend of deals. There was a fair amount of security presence which was mostly reassuring. The staffing was high in the shops I went into as the store management anticipated the hordes of shoppers. It's a little confusing since there is a short bit of 6th street that looks like it might access the parking lot but it doesn't. You need to access at either Washington or Louisiana/Toledano Ave. Next time I'll stop by after work to avoid the Saturday crush.

They had a great assortment from Good American and Madewell, with a good range of sizes and styles to choose from. So yay because I needed a pair of jeans because the weather was much cooler than I'd packed for. The dress section, however, felt a bit repetitive. Lots of the same styles, so not a ton of variety there. One thing that really stood out was the shoe section, especially if you're a size 10. There was a very large selection, which isn't always easy to find.
