Staying with family in Heswall, I talked them into letting me take them out for dinner one night…read more They suggested this place. Let me say right up front that we caught them on a short staffed night. Wait times for food were insanely long. It was 45 minutes before we even saw our appetizers. But once we got the food, I forgave them. It was that good. The Carne platter for the table was a hit. I particularly enjoyed the lamb koftas. Everyone loved their meals. I highly enjoyed the fish and chips. My wife enjoyed the goat cheese pizza. Despite the long wait, the meal wound up being memorable.

Once a year I frequent small leafy village of Irby for cricketing purposes sampling what little it…read morehas to offer besides Irby cricket club. Well it has Anchor Inn for starters. As far as country pubs go, I really do find it difficult to distinguish between them apart from aesthetically of course. Anchor Inn we have used on numerous occasions as a one stop dink shop, musing once over whether or not to try out some of their fuel offerings. It was a shame it wasn't we've never been on Sundays when they do a sunday roast 2 courses for under £9. I've been told the carved roast beef is rather special. Maybe next time perhaps. It's also a rather puddingtastic place serving up some decent sweet offerings. On the menu they have Toffee Apple Pie or Clotted Cream Cheesecake, Chocolate & Vanilla Sundae or Warm Chocolate Brownie, Lemon Meringue Pie or Melting Chocolate Fondant, White Chocolate & Mascarpone Cheesecake and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Something to take anyone's fancy eh? I am not really ethanol inclined so simpler things such as puddings float my boat in homely country pubs such as the Anchor Inn. So if your boat has floated to Irby set up anchor here, you'll have a merry old time staying "Inn" here.

Ahh The Saughall, my local and what a delightful little local it is. Good priced pints, including,…read moreon accasion, some rare beers from time to time, nice friendly atmosphere and great staff. The food in here is pretty standard pub grub only served upto 7pm but there are some great offers from time to time like a curry and pint for a fiver. If you ever decide to come to the Saughall on a Everton or Liverpool match night there is a great offer on bottled beers £1.50 a bottle from kick off to full time. So if you ever find yourself in the quiet little village of Saughall Massie pop down to the Saughall pub for a pint a packet of crisps and a bit of friendly banter

Pretty standard place, food was alright I had the Carvery which was basic but low on the food and…read moreextra wasn't brought out the kitchen while we where there. Staff where all running round mad seemed to be bad communication skills amongst them all. Waiting stupid amounts of times for drinks on a day that wasn't busy In my view. Some drinks came wrong and some not at all, had to ask for them again and they where put on the bill twice when only ordered once but like I said had to ask for them again as they where forgotten about. Apple pie was soggy and not very nice. And when it came to splitting the bill it was very confusing as they'd named certain things on different to the menu so we got told to pay at the bar because they needed the table. £120 bill and we was seated 20 minutes late and was told to pay at the bar as they needed the table when we still had drinks to finish. Staff where helpful
