I've drank in here a few times and it seems a bit dated, and although it i a fairly welcoming pub, it seems set in its ways and full of regulars. I wouldn't recommend this pub for a family day out or a young crowd on a night out at the weekend; it's more of a place to go for a quiet pint or two with a couple of friends or alone. It's the kind of pub that you could go and enjoy the paper in in peace! I'm not sure whether or not they serve food but I don't think that they do. They have a number of draught beers and ales on offer as well as a good selection of spirits.

Let me say right up front that we caught them on a short staffed night. Wait times for food were insanely long. It was 45 minutes before we even saw our appetizers. But once we got the food, I forgave them. It was that good. The Carne platter for the table was a hit. I particularly enjoyed the lamb koftas. Everyone loved their meals. I highly enjoyed the fish and chips. My wife enjoyed the goat cheese pizza. Despite the long wait, the meal wound up being memorable.

Anchor Inn we have used on numerous occasions as a one stop dink shop, musing once over whether or not to try out some of their fuel offerings. It was a shame it wasn't we've never been on Sundays when they do a sunday roast 2 courses for under £9. I've been told the carved roast beef is rather special. Maybe next time perhaps. It's also a rather puddingtastic place serving up some decent sweet offerings. On the menu they have Toffee Apple Pie or Clotted Cream Cheesecake, Chocolate & Vanilla Sundae or Warm Chocolate Brownie, Lemon Meringue Pie or Melting Chocolate Fondant, White Chocolate & Mascarpone Cheesecake and Sticky Toffee Pudding. When I used to manage a wine bar, you welcomed new blood around the bar because you'd get fed up talking to the same old people! No messing around in this place either, as it's well known as the watering hole of all the local police! But nevertheless, the beers good, the views are great, they have a full bar and plenty of comfortable seats. It's the kind of pub you can quite easily relax in and enjoy the crossword of a good book. Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.
