This place is going down hill fast. I've been coming here for years, since I think around 2008, maybe longer. You would come in, pick your site, let the ranger station know and you were done. Now, since a couple months ago, they changed it to where "a computer" would pick your site for your, which would be good if all the sites were the same, but they definitely are not! Some sites are paved, some are rock, some long or short, some easy to get into, some not. They basically took your choice away! Before, if you got here and all the "good" sites were taken, that's the luck of the draw. Both times since they changed to this I've had to ask to change the site, first time, I couldn't get into the site if I wanted to. Second time they put us in a site we definitely did not want. Now, they put up a sign no drinks in the edge of the pool, no exceptions! A lot of people go to the pool, stand at the side, drink whatever it is, chill and have a good time. So now that choice has been taken away. I can understand glass containers, glass and pools don't mix, so punish those people! We have loved this place for years, but it's getting to where we don't like coming here anymore. Some of the employees are nice, some not so much. Some of the employees seem extremely lazy and are just here to talk and play. Mean while, the speed limit is 5 mph, I've seen people doing I think around 25 or 30. People have their kids and dogs walking around the park and I haven't seen much to stop that. But standing around the pool drinking whatever and having a good time, the managers said shut it down! I really don't know what's happening here. Just think hard before buying a membership. The memberships can cost thousands of dollars and they can make changes anytime, whether you like it or not, and you either have to deal with it or get rid of it. They don't care what you think! We had the pleasure of staying here over the past weekend. This place is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained. There are so many things for you to do, whether you are coming as a couple, family, or even solo. They have a dog park, an activity center, tennis courts, basketball courts, miniature golf, a nice pool, and more. Each day we were there, there was a different food truck. read more

The service and area was absolutely divine for camping. I definitely noticed it was quite packed with RVs, everyone was kind however. The bathroom facilities were easy to find and was very clean. There we're also a couple fishing areas, unfortunately, i didn't get the chance to do so but, looking forward to it next time. Certainly not a bad spot to go for a trip. read more

Most of the facility is great. However, the pull-throughs and driveways in that area are unattractive and full of potholes. Hopefully, that area is on the list for updates and repairs. On the other hand, many of the back-in sites are shaded and surrounded by grass. We will be staying here. read more

Very nice campground, one of the nicest we have been to with TT. Pool & hot tub are nice, hot tub was pretty hot, but the jets did not work. The roads were in good shape & there were a lot of sites for big rigs, all though where we were parked we had to share our yard with the people next to us, which I believe is common now. The clubhouse was nice but there wasn't much to do. The laundry room was dirty, but there were a lot of machines. The playground was nice & the mini golf/ tennis courts were in great shape, there was a pretty large dog park too. This location has been the nicest park in Texas. It's also really close to town for groceries, shopping & dining. Access to the lake is easy & the view is beautiful. read more

It was such a pleasure to clean your cabin for you guys! We booked a cabin for 4 that was pet friendly and my family stayed a total of two nights with our two very indoor small dogs. I'm just glad my momma taught me how to clean well, cause whoever is supposed to in these cabins clearly has lost their way. The floor which is a faux wood vinyl encrusted my four year olds foot with black hairy sticky gunk after one hour of arriving. Thankfully we brought extra, which will now have to be thrown away, socks to wear while not outside. Now this brings me to the bathroom which I have documented with pictures as proof as a poopy mildewed mess. The "please wipe down the toilet and shower stall before you go" must just be an afterthought when they check these cabins after people have left. I won't go into this further as pictures have been provided but let's just say unsealed wood in a bathroom with inadequate vent fans was not the best building material choice. The linens provided were old and mysteriously oil stained but adequate in their purpose as coverings and absorbant material. I did find it nice that they included so many utensils for cooking though, that was well thought out. Not sure if it was a test but yes, I did find that dirty burnt on gunk skillet in the cabinet, I also washed and scrubbed it, so your welcome for that too. Thanks for providing exactly two tablespoons of soap to use as well, I had no idea palmolive was such a rare commodity(It's cool, I brought my own to use). Moving on to the outside and the grounds provided. I have to say the pool was a nice surprise and from what my husband tells me the playground was good too. The other amenities provided at the campground were unfortunately skipped due to have having two very pale children under 4 and a great lack of shade on Thousand Trails' part. You're welcome Thousand Trails and whoever your next occupant to cabin F4 is I did your dirty work and you can now safely eat of the floor if you needed to. So in conclusion, guys, just wait for Jellystone to have availabilities and skip this place, you'll thank me later. read more

Gorgeous campground with a serious parking issue. They do not have near enough parking areas or overflow parking which makes visiting near impossible. I would love to buy in The Reserve but cannot because of the lack of parking areas. Now they won't let you park in the street. Shooting yourselves in the foot here, Thousand Trails. Hopefully they will catch on soon so existing and potential members will be happy again. read more

The roads are horrible! Only good sites are new section that are annuals or impossible to get into..... being a member always a place to park but may be in a mud spot... broken sewer pipes at last one! People very friendly just wish corporate would spend more to upgrade this park.... Last cabin rental smell really strong of methane gas... was afraid to sleep without opening windows! Complained to management about old food left in fridge, holes punched in walls and strong gas odor inside but not out! Atleast got my deposit back but would had been better/ safer to stay at motel 6 ! Glad to see finally got a good activity director but geared mostly for children .. maybe will have adult things once she gets settled in ! Very pricey Annual sites or may had considered one but have to pay membership and entire year upfront? My annual out on American Canyon River wasn't that high and did not ask for all at once! It was beautiful and so much to do! Some good and some bad ! read more

We have traveled to several RV resorts and campgrounds over the years and this one is top notch! Bathrooms are spotless and temperature appropriate for the weather. I.e. Cool in the summer and warm in the fall. Pool and hot tub as well as pool bathhouse and cabanas are always spotless. Cabanas has mini fridge, tv and fans. Lake area, island, marina - all clean and never trash on the ground. Small cover for swimming is free from glass it seems. Love the staff! T.J. And Kim are superb always eager to help. read more

Great experience when you get back to the campground in the evening and some drunk guy stops your vehicle and is yelling at you that you are speeding when I wasn't then proceeds to open my truck door to to try to fight me. I know the campground can't control people who live here but the "ranger" Nick told us there was nothing he can do. He wouldn't even find out who it was. So I didn't even sleep much because I was worried about drunk guy messing with my truck. As far as the park goes when you get here it's just park anywhere on gravel uneven sites. There is no way I would stay here again. read more

The worst customer service. Our son lives in Houston and we have the Thousand Trails membership. Because this RV park was close to Houston and part of Thousand Trails we stayed 2 weeks. When we arrived to check in the office was disorganized and it took us over 45 minutes to check in. They already had our reservation and all of the paperwork printed out. Their computer program is archaic. While we were "checking in" 3 more RV's pulled up. With one person working I am not sure how long it took them to check in. While we were checking in the only person in the office kept opening the door to answer questions and help the cars that were coming in the gate. With such a busy park you would think Thousand Trails would have more than one person working the office. After we checked in we found a spot we wanted. Since the office didn't have any maps available we weren't sure if we could take the spot we chose. We drive back up to the gate and asked, he said it was ok. We asked for the code for the gate and he said he isn't allowed to give it to us. We would have to come back up to the gate after we hooked up to get it. We don't pull a car and the office was a good hike in 90 degree weather. Our stay doesn't get any better...since we don't have a car my kids drove 45 minutes to pick us up for dinner. We gave them the gate code. The only person working the office would not let them in. They finally got in after 10 minutes of explaining his parents are staying here and they don't have a car and he was picking us up. After a week staying at the park they started paving the roads and that alone was a mess. I understand they have to pave the roads, since they were pretty bad. They had no plan. We would try to leave the RV park and told we couldn't go this way or that but only when we we were ready to turn so we had to back up. No signs to tell us where to drive. My daughter-in-law came to pick me up Contruction was going on the gate was wide open she was going through the gate and the one person in the office stopped her and told her we had to call the office to give permission to let her in. Well....because of Contruction their phones were down. My daughter in law called us to call the office and we couldn't. In 90 degree weather we had to meet her at the gate. I told the lady the phone lines were down she didn't care. When we finally left the nightmare park. The main road was blocked off and they had cones blocking it off and the other entrance a man waving a flag. It was the only way out. My husband ended up moving the cones so we could leave and the Contruction workers were yelling at us the whole time. Because this is Thousand Trails and we have a membership we would like to stay again. They need to change their check in process and have friendly people working. read more

This is the best Thousand Trails park the we have stayed at. The interior roads are in rough shape but the wide grassy spaces are beautiful. We had a space that overlooked the lake. This park is being upgraded with 50 amp electrical service, re-leveling of sites, and new roads and new sites. They have just finished renovating the pool and hot tub and have just put in a beach and expanded the marina. We will certainly be back. The $3 rate reflects the 50 amp service. read more

The entrance to the park was very impressive. The gate keeper/ ranger had our gate code and directions to the cabin that we were staying in. He was polite and efficient. The cabin was well appointed and just the right amount of rustic. We had enough towels and wash clothes for us all to use. When we woke up in the morning and walked down to the water it was such a nice view. The pool, bathrooms, tennis courts, and grounds were Clean and well tended. The best thing I did was sign up for a membership. This is a vacation from home (45 miles from our daily home). We like to boat. Plenty of recreation for the kiddos (Fishing, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Pool, Put-Put and more). We are comfortably turning the older kids loose on their bikes and let them have a little independence. They have a marina with docks and plenty of fields to let the dog run. Staff is always friendly and cordial. This is really a hidden gem in our own back-yard. Quality family fun at it's finest. read more

Swimming pool, hot tub, close to the mall, campsites with electric so you can really enjoy an entire weekend on the lake, clean and nice facilities, fire pits... what else? oh! and kayak rentals. We stayed 5/20-5/22. We've been to several campgrounds within 100 miles from Houston, and I don't think we will ever camp anywhere else again. We had an absolutely awesome time. We were there for 1/2 day Friday, all day Saturday, 1/2 day Sunday...and we still weren't able to do all the activities they have! We absolutely LOVED it. Waco...one of the staff members went out of his way several times to help us!! He was VERY sweet and helpful. Kim..who we checked in with was also very sweet! She definitely gave us a great first impression of the campground. Everything was clean, all the staff members and residents were so friendly. We rented a john boat that had a motor on it for a full 8 hours and spent some time on the lake! The pool was definitely resort quality. Some of the tent sites are better than others...but you won't be spending much time at your campsite with all there is to do!! We CAN'T WAIT to come back!! I'm already booking our next trip :) read more
