Elderhelp makes sure that seniors experience joy, form friendships, are heard and know they MATTER and aren't forgotten. Elderhelp is an amazing service, and San Diegans are lucky to have them in our backyard. I've been an Elderhelp volunteer for five years and have grocery shopped and visited with seniors in my area. Elderhelp's goal is to keep seniors living independently, in their own homes, and provide transportation, handyman, and friendly visitor services by partnering seniors with volunteers. Elderhelp advocates for seniors when their families aren't involved, or if their families are bums. There are a variety of ways to get involved with this amazing organization. And if you decide to volunteer, you get to find a plan that works for you: you can volunteer once, or more often (monthly, bi-weekly, weekly). I grocery shop every other week for a neighborhood senior who is a joy to be around.

I had so much fun (once I got over feeling silly for being the only non senior citizen there.). The instructor Duffy truly enjoys dancing and teaching class. The folks here seem like they come often; they knew all the steps to each dance -impressive as each song has completely different steps! They were super nice, encouraging me (clearly the newbie) to dance in the middle so whenever we turned I could watch another dancer instead of cranking my head behind me to watch the instructor. In the two hours, there were a ton of dances. I was actually tired afterwards and I give props to some of the regulars- they got the moves :) So, yeah, I would definitely come again. I'd seriously encourage many adults (especially seniors) to come and get their groove on... Free Line Dancing class Wed 130pm-330pm and Fri 12-2pm in a nice air conditioned room.

They provide a vital lifeline to those in the community facing hardship. Donating my computers, printers, fax machines, and stereos was amazingly easy and convenient, allowing contributions to help children is important work, making a noticeable positive difference in our community. I see how their service brings people together for such a good cause. Their process and staff are well-organized and efficient. Noticing true dedication of their staff managing my computer donations is inspiring. Several of my items were sentimental because I flashed back to the business trips, events, learning, excitement about new technology and physical appearance. They are clearly committed to sustainability and giving items a second life or the parts cycled to the best utilization. I discovered that many in our community actively contribute to this organization's mission through cyber rummage donations. I urge you to call and bring your donations there too!

They have a good price for sheets and blankets, but the furniture and miscellaneous prices are absurd. I understand they need to make money to help the community, but the people who shop there can't afford a $50, plain old chair. You'll find a tiny notebook with half the pages smeared in lipstick marked at 3.99. I don't know what their business model is but it sure isn't moving product. Goodwill is pricey, but at least their items are quality. I honestly can't afford to shop at Ramona Food and Clothes Closet. Your prices truly need to be readjusted.
