    Butters (formerly Edgar)

Adoption process was quick and I'm so happy to be able to give this little guy a good furrever home. Like other reviewers mentioned, there were some parts of the interview where it seemed like they were trying to bait me into saying the wrong thing. While I know their intentions were coming from genuine care for his wellbeing, it was quite off putting. At any rate, I was willing to overlook this as I felt Butters (fmly Edgar) would be a great fit for my sweet 6 year old, Tormund. It's only been a few weeks and I'm happy to report they're getting along well.

We were able to adopt our sweet Raisin! Process was prompt upon submitting the application and we received a lot of helpful information throughout.

RescueHouse is a wonderful organization full of kind and caring individuals who work day and night to help pets in need of homes. We recently adopted a senior kitty who now goes by the name of "Tom" (inspired by the old cartoon Tom & Jerry). Tom needed a forever-home, and we thought it would be nice to try and adopt one of the older cats, and we couldn't be happier with the decision. What we appreciated about RescueHouse is that they take great care in selecting the homes for each pet. They want to ensure every animal is provided a home where they will be well taken care of. The process to adopt is reasonable but thorough, and I would encourage you to ignore the negative reviews. Animal rescue organizations must be selective for the safety and welfare of the animals. RescueHouse's staff are very well trained, all volunteers, and incredibly knowledgeable in the care and treatment of every animal they offer for adoption. During the adoption process, we were provided an abundance of useful information on how to best transition Tom and make sure he would be healthy and happy. We can't thank everyone over at RescueHouse enough! Tom is such a fun and affectionate kitty, and we're happy he came home with us. Thank you for all the hard work your team does.

Update for my review on 4/25/2023 - Decided to check out the Oceanside Humane Society for an available kitten. What an amazing positive experience unlike what I experienced at the Rescue House which was nothing short of terrible. We were able to adopt a lovely 8 week old kitten which has become a wonderful addition to our family. If you do decide to check out the Oceanside Humane Society be sure to ask for Taylor. Friendly & personable and made the adoption process seamless.

She is always responsive by phone and text. Even when I text her late at night, she is always responding! Before the actual adopting day, she would send you pictures of your puppy to keep you updated. Truthfully, she and how Art and paw animal rescue is ran, should be an example of how all the animal rescues should be. I adopted my puppy from a group of 9 puppies and she knew everything about each and every single one of them. One thing I appreciate about her is, she doesn't get motivated by money but rather she truly cares for the dogs and want them to find the perfect home. She really takes the time to find the perfect home for each dog! You will not regret adopting! Also her company is ran from donations so please head onto the website and donate (: Thank you Liraz for the amazing experience.

On last Saturday, we went to Petsmart to get some dog food and cat food. My wife found this lovely dog that she would not leave without her. Art and Paws Animal Rescue went through all the questions about our living environment to make sure the dog was going to a right place, made sure that we were committed, not compulsive and showed us the papers with medical history and everything. Lulu is so happy being with other brothers and a sister and fit right in without hesitation. There are some dog rescues that only concentrate on making dogs adopted but Art and Paws Rescue really care for the dogs and we felt the right thing as dog owners. I already sent them thank you email plus lots of pictures ans will follow up with them continuously. Great job "Art & Paws Animal Rescue" and thank you for letting us having Lulu.

Fast forward to 2024, I entertained the idea of somehow welcoming a dog back into my life...I wasn't sure how, but I wanted to get back into the doggy world...and that's when I discovered all different opportunities at the SDCAS.... 1. Dog Day Out- this is a fantastic program to take approved dogs out for the day and market them to the world as being available for adoption. These dogs are sweet, friendly, non-reactive, and just love being out of the shelter. SDCAS gives you everything you need for the day. Our first experience was with Sal- a super friendly pitbull. He loved getting out and proudly wore his 'adopt me' vest! Our second Dog Day Out was with Zane- a beautiful, sweet rottie/husky mix. While we were out with Zane, we decided to foster him. Speaking of fostering.... 2. Foster- if you've ever wanted to foster a dog, this is the place to do it. They provide everything you could possible need. This is a great way to learn more about a dog, post pictures and tidbits about the dog on their website so others learn about them and hopefully adopt them. Fostering saves lives! 3. Adopt- We were a foster fail after a week with Zane. We got to know him SO much and he is absolutely perfect for our family. We wouldn't have known this unless we fostered... Highly recommend SDCAS! 5 stars!

Their cardboard carrier comes at a cost (it was free from the Humane Society). They sell overpriced food that you feel compelled to buy because that's what the animal was already eating. Of course my cat didn't even like the food! And THEN at the end to wrap up you have to go talk to someone. I thought it was part of the process, but nope, it was a pushy pet insurance salesperson, trying to get you to sign up asap. Instead of giving you a discount code or something that you can use after you have a chance to review prices and coverage and shop around, you have to sign up there and then. Both the food and insurance are obvious sponsors of the Center, and it feels like the Center has completely let them take over. It felt like I was being ripped off the entire time, one thing after another. If my son hadn't been with me I probably would have left and went to the Humane Society. Oh and also, if you have to surrender your pet for some reason, they may not take it back. SD Humane Society guarantees that they will. Surrendering an animal is not something I take lightly, but you never know if you'll get laid off or have serious health issues that prevent you from being able to take care of an animal. I'd rather have the assurance that at least I can surrender them to a no kill shelter rather than other possible options.

This includes orthopedic surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, laser therapy, preventative medicine, digital radiology, diagnostic internal medicine and routine care. My dog developed a skin growth on the outside of his leg that needed surgery. Initially I figured this was an easy fix. Just schedule the procedure then take my sweet boy home. Not so much, unless money is no object for you. The quote I received (from my local vet) shocked me. No way could I afford this. So began my exhaustive search. After many weeks I found Companion Animal Hospital. When I called them to ask for a quote they couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Immediately they thought their price would be competitive however they needed to see my dog in person to verify. Upon arriving the receptionist and technician were very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs. I could tell every employee was genuinely an animal person. We went into a room right away and the appointment went really well. Both my dog Bear and myself genuinely liked Dr Garvey which in my book is a huge deal. Since my dog suffers from anxiety at the vet. She was very informative about answering all my questions and explaining what needed to be done. After the appointment I received a quote for the needed surgery and was completely relieved to see the price was four times less than the original quote at the other vet. So needless to say my dog received his surgery here, was in and out the same day with no problems or complications. His growth was benign so no worries about cancer, hallelujah. We returned a few weeks later for his suture removal. This was very quick and my dog was rewarded with the removal of the dreaded cone. I can't say enough good things about all of the staff here and Dr. Garvey. Thank you for saving my dog because essentially that is what happened. It may not have been life threatening at the time, however if I hadn't found you all then his growth would have kept getting worse. Potentially turning into a life threatening situation. I'm very thankful to everyone at Companion Animal Hospital and will sing your praises to everyone I know.

Within a few days, we were rushing him to urgent care at 1 a.m. in Poway because he was gasping for air, his tongue turning blue. I truly thought he was going to die in my arms on that terrifying drive. The vet told use his throat was very irritated, He was diagnosed with tracheal collapse - an injury we could do nothing to reverse. He suffered for the last month of his life before he ultimately passed away. This was the direct result of whatever happened in that back room, while he was in their care.
