If there's one thing you have to get here it's the daal makhani. This is the best one I've ever tried. I also really enjoyed the fresh passion fruit juice they make (it has some masala in it). The lamb chops were a bit chewy, had good flavor but could be cooked better. read more

Excellent food, service and ambiance. The Indian food at this location is high quality. I wish they did papadum and Onion Baji in the starters, but it's a not a big deal. My first visit was in 2004 when the men's club had recently opened its doors to women. A girlfriend brought me here and we huddled in a booth chowing down on the most amazing food ever. 6 years later, April 2010, I finally return to London and the first place to revisit is The Regency. This time we brought our significant others and it happened to be during a big football game. The place has a great interior. I can see how it used to be a men's club. The parlor lights remind me of a smokey snooker bar I've seen in the movies. Only this place is filled with Indian men shouting at the TV screens. The menu is very reasonably priced. The appetizers are the star of the show though you can't go wrong with any dish. If you're visiting London and want something off the beaten path, this is the place. Go early to get a table for dinner *especially* if there's a big game on that evening. I arrived at 6pm and watched the place fill up to standing room only within 45 minutes. read more

If you were looking for an indian equivalent of wetherspoons, this is it. It's essentially an indian sports bar that does above average indian food. Think curries and tandoori grill. Throw in an Arsenal game and you've got the perfect setup for a good evening of food, sports and decent priced drink. The atmosphere is moderately loud and didn't get too busy whilst we were there. Fortunately the place being in Edgware ensures it's hardly heaving, and noise levels are sensible. Staff were very good in waiting tables however they committed the cardinal sin of drinks. Serving Coca Cola in those tiny 0.25l bottles. There aren't many things hated more by the Cola drinker than that. However luckily the food arriving shortly after made up for that annoyance. The Paneer was standout for me. Extremely yummy and indeed spicy. Everything was just that little bit spicier than I would expect in a typical indian. This was after asking that some dishes be made "less spicy". The clientele here mostly being indian probably prefers a higher tolerance of spice that I appreciated. Unfortunately one of our party did not appreciate the spiciness that much, but made a fair attempt and did well at sampling most dishes. If you aren't a fan of hot though, ask them to tone it down. In all, the place felt like a wetherspoons, with a step up in terms of food quality. The serving of coca cola in 0.25 bottles is a near crime, but I think it's possible to get this by the pint, but basically beer is about the same price as coke here, so you're probably better off drinking. I missed out on the lamb on this visit, so hopefully the next time I'm here, I'll be able to sample more from their vast menu. read more

Dropped by on a busy Saturday night after impressive recommendations. From the atmosphere I could already tell I would be in for a treat as people were more than willing to wait the 1+ hours for a table. The highlight was the pulled lamb pizza which was a limited-time menu option during the Christmas season. BRILLIANT. The waiters were also very considerate of my food allergies so I was able to get a taste of everything from the garlic mogo to lamb kebabs to paneer, all of which were rich, succulent, and spicy in flavour. A friend who grew up there (yes, we bumped into a cousin of his, while eating dinner) has been begging me to go with him for months. Last night was THE trip and it was worth every moment on the A1 getting there. Fantastic food. Just excellent. It was football match night so it was extremely busy (the table next to us turned over three times while we ate dinner), and noisy but that added to the atmosphere. It's a community all by itself. We have been planning to visit this place for sometime as we have heard lots of good things about it. While its is a Pub and Sports kind of place we were not sure if children are allowed evenings so decided to go during lunch time. That's when a friend told us that Kids are not allowed any time! Decided to do a takeaway instead and gave them a call. The web site was well organised and the menu extensive and really promising. We ordered a Chicken Tikka, Chicken Malai Tikka, Jalapeño Pops and a Crispy Bhindi(Okra) as starters. Bombay Chicken Bahar (Mince Chicken and Chicken in a hot fenugreek based sauce), a chicken Biriyani and few Nan and a Garlic Chilli Nan. I was asked to collect in twenty mins which I thought was a quick service. Drove down to Queensbury and the traffic was bad. Reached the destination and luckily there was a paid parking available just in front. The facade of the club is tasteful and you need to buzz to be let in. The interiors looked nice and were dimly lit. A large open kitchen on one corner which had around 10 chefs working. There was a decent crowd and the folks were enjoying a game on the telly and has a nice hum. A separate counter for food order and my food was packed and ready to.i was thrilled to confirm that they accept AMEX as I don't get many chances to pay with it and headed home. It was a 20 min drive and the food lost some oomph. The verdict - mixed feelings about the starters. Crispy Bhindi (Okra) was good, so we're the Jalapeño. The Tikka's were good too but not exceptional. The Bombay Chicken Bahar was nice but too oily. The Nan's were standard and Niriyani was a big disappointment. My wife said that it was the worst Biriyani she ever had! Which I believe was a cruel thing to say however it did look like some Steamed Rice and a curry mixed together and that too not very well. Over all feeling that it was a pretty ordinary culinary wise and probably will go again with friends to try out their beer but certainly not for the food. Having said, probably it might have tasted better if I had it there. read more

Busy Sundays at Regency. It was so busy that our group of 15 couldn't book over the phone, however they arranged a table in 5 minutes. Service was alright and food was pretty decent. I picked this spot for a birthday lunch due to the glowing reviews. Organising the set menu in advance was easy enough although emails asking for confirmation went unreplied to. I phoned them in the end just to be sure and they said all was ok. On arrival, I was really underwhelmed by our reception. The rather rude staff put us in a corner and ignored us, despite my questions about where my guests were to be seated and why there was nothing set up already. I had to wait til a full half hour has passed before we were greeted by someone more senior (despite asking to see the manager a number of times). When the food came, it was good, probably 3/4-star-worthy, but the actual service at the start really made me sad, especially considering I was there for a special occasion and had taken pains to plan it well. I was in truth embarrassed for my guests and whilst the service was much better towards the end, I would not return, nor recommend - as the food is not nearly outstanding enough to warrant rude waiters... :( read more

The Regency Club is easily one of the most unique and delicious Indian restaurants not located in India. It has the atmosphere of an old school pizza parlor. The casual and youthful feel make it a really fun place to eat and hang out. (Indian rest. typically aren't places where you just hang out) They also have an Indian juke box where you can select old and recent bollywood songs. And if you're a football fan, fear not, they have TV's so you can watch your game. On to the food, the appetizers are delicious! The garlic mogo is the best mogo (casava) I've ever had and other dishes on the starters menu are also commendable. The mains are also great but unfortunately I didn't get to try as many of them as I would have liked. I went to Regency Club twice in my one week stay in London and on both of those days (one week night), there was a wait time since they don't take reservations but it's worth the wait. read more

The best Indian restaurant I have been to in London! It was previously a traditional British pub and Regency have kept those interiors which makes it unique. The food is incredible with fast service. The garlic mogo is by far my favourite dish! Spicy and so addictive I'm craving it now. Friday and Saturday evenings are incredibly busy so make sure you get there early to avoid having to wait. Everything was perfect. The flavorful food. The friendly staff. I was able to enjoy a "Tusker" beer from Nairobi, Kenya. Never had that before and I understand it isn't very common. The karahi was among the best I have ever had. Oh, and as a huge fan of Japanese whiskey, the Yamizaki was a nice touch! I'm greatful my pal Vikram introduced me to this culinary experience! Woah! Went there again tonight after 3 years! My first stop for food as I land in this fair city. It was as good as I remember it. Mix grill was great, but I loved the garlic mogo and the chicken wings --both the grilled one and the deep fried ones. And they know how to keep those pints coming in this place! I think I will have to make another stop here before exiting the UK! read more

Regency is a wonderful Indian food pub located near the Queensbury tube station. It has been recently renovated. The menu has extensive vegetarian and non vegetarian selections. The kebabs are out of this world. Service is courteous and quick. Reservations are a must specially on weekends. Highly recommended. read more

I had such a bad experience here!!! I used to live in London a couple years back, now I live in the US. I came to visit London with my family and I told them how many times I had come here. I wanted to show them that this is where I grew up. We took an hour long train ride to get to the place, only to get turned down by the host who said kids cant come. We were devastated, the kids were starving and the place was empty and the couldn't even let us in. I dont know if these fools are going through a phase, but from the time I had come the place had gone downhill. We took an 8 minute walk to Everest which was I'm sure better than this filthy garbage place. If you have kids be aware to get turned down. read more

I was introduced to the Regency Club by friends who told me I was in for a surprise. How true they were, what a fantastic place, you enter from the busy street into a wonderful warm and welcoming atmosphere, greeted by several members of staff who make you feel like an old friend returning after a long absence. Then you are introduced to the menu, what a selection and if you have any doubt's there's always someone available to offer advice. I travel all over the country and can honestly say the the Regency is by far the best for hospitality and quality I've ever experienced and is prominent in my sat nav if ever I'm in the area, the car automatically takes me for another great meal. The only draw back is that there is no accommodation, but that perhaps for the best as I would probably never get back home. I do not recommend this indian restaurant to anyone. Let me just start out by saying that I have had better indian food....IN MY HOUSE!..The quality of the food was poor.
