Cute little ice cream shack. Ice cream is pretty good, They had some unique flavors I never heard of before. Chili dogs suck--They use the crappy canned chili. Parking can get tricky when very busy. A cute little ice cream shop located near Ricketts Glen State Park. Very clever location - we were quite hungry and hot after completing the Falls Hike! They have a lot of options, including both soft serve and Hershey's hand scooped ice cream, served in a variety of ways - cones, cups, sundaes, toppings, and more. They offer a small menu of hot foods, as well. There's a small gravel parking lot in front and a couple of picnic tables available to the side of the order window, right in front of a very cute fence decorated with painted sprinkles/jimmies. We opted for a small Red Rock Sundae with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, chocolate rocks, whipped cream and cherry on your choice of ice cream (we got peanut butter cup), a chocolate milkshake, and a twist soft serve in cup with cone on top. Staff was friendly and efficient in keeping the busy line moving! There's a cute bright yellow giant Adirondack chair right in front that makes for great pictures. read more

This ice cream shop is right by Ricketts Glen Park which was super convenient since my friends and I wanted to end our day with some desserts. It seemed like a lot of other people had the same idea so there was relatively a long line. This shop is super smart placing their ice cream shop right by the park. We ordered the below flavors and although the flavors were pretty good, it just didn't felt the same since these ice creams are store-bought instead of homemade. They gave us a decent amount of servings for the ice cream which is a plus. Flavors: Strawberry, Mint Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Cookie, Coconut Chocolate Almond We also ordered a side of large fries which were also very ok - tasted like store-bought frozen fries that were baked and seasoned with a butt load of salt. Had a McDonald's after taste. Super convenient to swing by to get your ice cream craving fix after you're done with your hike, but wouldn't go out of my way for this place. read more

Soooo every ice cream place I go to starts at a base of two stars when they don't have the foresight to think about using an friendly allergen scooping method for hard ice cream. It isn't hard, it makes people very happy, and is cost effective. I'm not even saying a new scoop for each ice cream, I'm saying use a particular scoop for your nut filled ice creams and a different one for the others. It is that simple. That and a little attention to detail from employees goes the distance. So into the ice cream, it was fine because it was soft serve....the only safe option for my extremely allergic girlfriend and myself (the boyfriend who doesn't want to give her a kiss of death) My dad has the chicken sandwich and we all shared the fries and had a mozzarella stick. She said it was fine which is my dads way of saying it was edible. The mozzarella sticks look and sound super promising being "homemade" but ended up tasting pretty bland sadly. Nothing brought this place up a start for me sadly. Down the road more is a place that has cross contamination polices. I suggest going there for a frozen treat. read more

Perfect lunch spot after a long Ricketts Glenn hike! We had the dog with us so we needed somewhere dog friendly and this was the first place we passed. It's all outdoor seating, nothing indoors. They have a wide selection of ice cream flavors and a small but good little food menu. We got a grilled cheese, hot dog, cheeseburger and mint chocolate chip shake & strawberry shake. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of it but it was so good & might I mention the prices were SO cheap. It was $16 for all of that!!! read more

My family and I have been loyal customers of the Scoop since it opened, we live in the Red Rock area. Every Summer we look forward to it opening. We have always been of the mind set to buy local and help out our small businesses . I'm not sure why the past couple weeks we have had the worst chicken finger basket meals, fries so salty it could give anyone a quick heart attack , just from the salt intake. The chicken was either under cooked, with grease from fryer still clinging to it or so hard from the fryer that you couldn't eat it period. This to any one else would be just an inconvenience but to hard working families looking to give a treat for supper this is a HUGE sadness with a basket almost 10 dollars each. I am even more sorry to say this but if your looking for summer food if you are anywhere near Red Rock or Ricketts Glenn area for hiking or just swimming at Lake Jean, you would be better off stopping elsewhere. read more

Red Rock Scoop was delicious and very reasonably priced! We hiked at Ricketts Glen and then ended our day with two chocolate/vanilla twist cones. The soft serve was creamy and smooth and the chocolate had a very nice chocolate taste without being artificial. A small and a large cone only cost $5. If this place was closer to home, I'd be there all the time. read more

Cute little place located near the Glenn. The staff is friendly and the ice cream was good. I usually get a milkshake as does my daughter. We both agreed that they were good but not memorable.
