It has a lovely and cosy bar area with a good selection of ales. Our room was on the ground floor and was not far from the gents toilet! However, it was really quiet and there was a little corridor between room and toilet. The room smelt a bit fusty but it is over 200 years old and it was very clean. The breakfast was lovely, very fresh tasting. Good selection of cereals as well. There is parking directly opposite the pub. It is about 5mins walk from lots of restaurants and pubs. There is also an old fashioned sweet shop across the road from the pub, has an amazing range. Nice place to stay to explore the surrounding area.

Our orders were also messed up, as I received a lamb burger with coleslaw, which I didn't want, and it came before the soup we took for starters... The burger lacked some taste, though... The potato mash was very rich and velvety, which suited the beef and ale pie perfectly. The carrot and coriander soup was also a great start to our dinner... The best moment ? Getting the last rays of sunlight in the huge garden, while reading books on one of their round tables.

We were given a large, bright, airy room that was just beside the elevators (804), but we weren't disturbed at all by other guests. Also within walking distance is the mall, a number of bars/clubs and also tons of restaurants. The only very small complaint I have is that the hotel only has two elevators. I know not much can be done about this but it was quite annoying having to wait up to 8 minutes for an elevator to take us to our floor. If we were lower down I would've just walked but we were on the second from top floor. Since these elevators are so slow and always seem to be in use, I recommend you request a lower down floor.
