There were 9 of us in our party last night and this worked really well as we had a whole little alcove to ourselves, however it can be a little too intimate when several smaller parties are put in the same area. The menu is full of your standard curry house choices plus some special dishes. We shared poppadoms and dips to start before moving on to main courses. My king prawn pathia with pilau rice was delicious, really flavourful without being too spicy. Service was attentive and our food and drinks all arrived quickly. The bill came to £16 each including a tip and we all left saying that we'd really enjoyed our meal. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm back!

Only two of us ordered starters, but there was plenty to go around! Mains arrived quickly and the waiters offered to serve the food for us. Lovely, traditional dishes, bustling atmosphere and not too badly priced either. Negatives - The bill was a little slow to arrive, but the place was heaving by that point, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Also, our table was facing the corridor leading into the main area, which made those of us sitting opposite feel a bit uncomfortable with our backs to the entirity of the restaurant! Unfortunately the rear entrance is less welcoming than the front. It has a perspex canopy over a single door that doubles up as an illegal (owner please note) smoking shelter. We decided to take the fresh air route around to the front. The inside isn't anything to write home about but it is clean. White plaster walls with the odd picture, laminate floors create a cold atmosphere in a ratherv "awkward" cramped layout left from the legacy of what was originally a small pub. The greeting and service was adequate but not overly welcoming, they were busy but a bit of warmth always helps. When seated it would appear from overhearing conversations (it can't be avoided) that there were also a few other first timers that night. We got a table in a front window about 12" away from the adjoining one, so if you like talking to strangers this is the table for you. There was a children's birthday party in the adjoining room, Why? They were loud, very loud but to be fair to the kids so was everyone else. Poppadoms & dips were fine, and no complaints with the onion bhaji. Unusually for me I passed on my favourite sheekh kebab. The chicken sagwalla & achari main courses were actual very good, well spiced at the medium & hot heat requested. No complaints either with the rice and onion kulcha but the frozen chips were anaemic. A very pleasant surprise was a complimentary Bombay Aloo,why us I am not sure. dn't want to sound ungrateful but sadly the potatoes were barely cooked and it lacked any real flavour. Based on just the food it is more than OK but for us the decor and ambience let it down. I suspect that on another evening it could been overall a little more enjoyable.

However last Saturday I picked up the courage and decided to give it a go purely because I wanted somewhere close to the leisure centre where I had to drop off & pick up our daughter within an hour & a half. Up the long narrow stairs my wife & I found a clean and freshly decorated restaurant. It is perhaps a little cold with its painted plaster walls and laminate floor and suggest a few soft furnishings wouldn't go amiss. It was early, 6.00pm on a warm evening and I was surprised to see three other tables occupied, a good sign so early. The staff seemed genuinely pleased to see us, they made us welcome and were eager to please. Unusually the TS is licensed but you are welcome to take your own although I'm not sure this was meant to incl a 2l bottle of lemonade as I noticed on one table. There's plenty to choose from on the menu, overall the prices are very reasonable but the specials although tempting may be a fraction overpriced The popadoms and selection of dips were better than average with our starters of onion bhaji & veg pakora arriving almost before we had finished them. Both were very good nicely spiced with a fresh & varied side salad. The main courses also arrived promptly. The chicken tikka Rajastani to which I added spinach was very good, hot and tasty. My wife enjoyed her chicken tikka tawa, although it wasn't sizzling as often served. In taste it was similar to a mild version of the Rajastani. One criticism is that the chicken tikka in both dishes was on the dry side which bothered my wife more than me. The garlic fried rice and garlic nan were both very good but the portion of limp frozen chips was a bit meagre. Surprisingly we found room for a desert and shared a banana fritter with ice cream which was excellent. In my opinion 3 stars wouldn't have done it justice so I have given it 3.5 which gets rounded up. it would be a genuine 4 stars if they upped the decor, slowed the service slightly and addressed the issues with the chicken & chips. Don't be put off by the frankly naff name or entrance, it is worth a try.

We ordered quick cuz the waiter informed us at 11.55 that the kitchen closes at 12.00. Our 3 friends who had been there about 15 mins and ordered, their food arrived just after 12. i would have thought that they would have brought out all orders in one go but no. We carried on talking expecting it to turn up any minute. When we had had no food and our friends had finished and plates removed we asked where ours was. The waiter said it been ordered late and it would be a few more minutes. Time wise it was now 12.50am. Ok we had had 3 Cobra beers, 1 coke, and stale poppadoms. We refused to pay for any of this and walked out. We noticed that the 4 who had turned up after us had their food. We will not be returning!!!!
