As far as the GBB pubs go, this is probably the least conspicuous of the lot. It's pretty much the same old pub it was before, just with different beers and a few things familiar to the eye of the GBB fan.
We had a grand quiet pint here of a Wednesday night. They're easy going with the closing time, which is sound. Other than that it's just any old grand pub! If I were in Rathgar more often I'm sure it would be a sound local to have. The bartenders are nice and there's a good list of beers on tap. Most notably, of all the GBB pubs, they've held onto the most macro-brewery beers; Heineken, Budvar, Guinness etc. Handy when there aren't too many spots in the area for a drink and you have to cater for just about everyone.
It looked like there was a nice food menu to be had, particularly a good value lunch menu, but we didn't get a chance to try that this time around. read more
