Nice hiking trails with a little elevation, excellent birding, a playground for the kiddos and a lake to fish or splash around in. We came last July when it was sweltering. We rented a cheap cabin with A/C and mostly stayed on the water in our cheap inflatable. Today we tent camped and were able to hike the trails. It was beautiful with all the wildflowers. Very peaceful especially in the primitive camping area.

The boat ramp and fishing pier are both well maintained, and the entire property is clean and inviting. It's easy to tell the owners and staff genuinely care about creating a great experience for their guests. We also loved the convenience of the marina store. It had everything we needed--from live bait and tackle to ice, drinks, snacks, and fuel right at the dock. The grill was fantastic too, with a surprisingly large menu and delicious food. The site view was absolutely stunning. we had a really good time. The next morning as we are preparing to leave, we couldn't find the sewer dump, as our site did not have one so we went to the office and she showed us where it was. that was an experience in itself the sillies were closed, I was surprised there was no showers nothing. One little toilet next to the dump, and he was trying to dump the sewer , the water was off, and he had to go behind someone's RV to turn the water on as it is hooked up to that water Spicket. that was kind of a nightmare but the rest of it was OK and we had a pleasant time. Texas can have that heat and humidity. ugggh. Nasty hot!

Maybe I'm not carved from the same metal as Texans from East Texas. Despite being an avid swimmer, I haven't yet warmed up to the idea of swimming in a lake where alligators have been sighted. But hey, to each their own! I've swam in the ocean many times. Sharks have been spotted there so maybe this is similar!? Just know that you can potentially knock "swimming with alligators" off of your bucket list by swimming at this lovely beach;). This beach park also includes gravel parking and four, nicely spaced shelters with picnic tables and grills, not a bad place to spend an afternoon or evening;)

If I could give 10 Stars I would! Larry is the nicest person you will ever meet. He had me…read moremeet him at the Shamrock station in town to escort me into the park. When I pulled in to the station I noticed smoke coming from my RV!! It was on fire!!! Me and the Jewett fire department was able to get it put out but I was not able to stay in it and had to rent a room. I was in town for a benefit and my time was limited. Larry took care of me like no one else would. He let me park my trailer at the campground at no charge but that's not all. I was busy with the benefit all weekend while knowing that Sunday I was going to have to deal with fixing my RV enough that I could pull it home. I arrived back at the campground early Sunday morning to find my RV completely sealed up and ready to go. It was as if an angel had come and saved the day! Larry did this for me because, as he said "I just like to help people when I can and I knew you needed help". This sort of kindness is rare these days and I could not be more grateful. If you ever have a chance to stay at Kozy Lakes please do! You won't find a better place to stay.

Bathroom needs some loving, but still had everything functioning. Plus, there was hot water!!! If you are someone who needs the internet, not the place for you. The marina is under new management, a very nice young family, whom I spoke with and they informed me they would be updating everything to the best of their abilities. Had a great time and looking forward to visiting again!
