As the name suggests, it's right next to the train station and is a really nice old building. As a person living locally you get the feeling that the landlord/landlady really put a lot of effort in to running the pub. There are live bands and other events on a regular basis.
The pub has quite a few TV screens that show sport and they can show different games on different screens so if you support a lesser team like me they will still find a screen to put your game on.
They've got a decent range of beers, I wouldn't say it was a massive range of ales but you should be able to find one you like.
Next door they have the Assembly Rooms which is essentially a function room you can hire with its own entrance, bar and toilets giving you your own proper private venue. It has a stage and they have a laid back approach allowing you to set out and decorate the room pretty much how you want within reason. As you might have guessed I have hired this for a surprise party in the past and it went very well and the cost was very reasonable. read more
