Bircher
Tresna L.

The Premises had been on my list of "must visit" cafes for a while, but I never found myself over this side of town. Until recently when I was headed to the Showgrounds and insisted that we pay a visit. The bircher muesli was good, though not as good as my dining companions quinoa porridge with poached pears and seeds, which I'd go back for especially. The coffee was solid, and the selection of fresh Market Juices was perfect on a morning where we were feeling a little "delicate" (read: late night, too much gin). Can't wait to re-visit and get through more of the menu.

Premises eggs

Due to a lack of menu options, I was left choosing the 'Premises eggs' with flatbread & hummus. Eggs were cooked well (important), but all-in-all was rather bland and boring. Left feeling disapointed. Great service and coffee on the good side & plenty of seating both inside & out. Probably won't head back to eat, might grab a take-away coffee though..

This very popular cafe located on the corner of Kensington's cute shopping strip is a great breakfast and coffee haunt. I've eaten here many a time and I really enjoy their attentive service and flexible menu options. I'm not as sure about their recent menu changes, but that's probably just because I don't like change. Even though it is often really busy, the wait is never long and there are lots of tables. A few tables are sprinkled out the front and a couple of large communal tables inside make it a good choice for a larger group. They do sweet well and the coffee even better!

Firstly I found the staff rude, stuck up and dismissive, the menu was limited and the food over priced, then when I had my food the waiter came out and was super friendly to the 2 guys on the table behind me and listed specials that I wasn't told about! I came here because I was really hungry and after paying $20 for my nicely displayed and yummy but small salmon salad I left hungry!! My mint tea was made with fresh mint leaves but I still think for $5 for a few leaves in water that's steep!

Funky decor near the kitchen, at the premises, Kensington

Funky decor and atmosphere along with plenty of seating indoor and out make this a fab spot for Sunday brunch. Great service too, we were however disappointed in the lack of menu options. But the food ambience and service make up for this.

The daily special. Coconut chia pudding with house made granola and stone fruit.

Delicious as always! Each time I get the special it's fantastic and this wasn't any different. I went for the lighter chia pudding with house made granola. The staff were great, accommodating our group quickly then not minding when we stayed for over an hour. They happily checked in on us but we never felt rushed. Will be back!

New design on the menu

The premises always offers exceptional food and coffee. Although there is usually a wait before you nab a table, the wait is well worth it!

Don't overlook the salads, they are delicious, and the coffee is probably the best I've had in Melbourne.

Review Highlights - The Premises

I really enjoyed having the Breakfast Sandwhich which has an amazing bbq house sauce, and the Bircher Muesli which is very light and fresh.

The staff are friendly and efficient. There's little space to sit inside and outside. The majority of people were like us, the coffee commuters. I appreciate a spacious outdoor bench seat due to often having a friend with a pram or a puppy. It expands the space of the cafe nicely. The staff are clearly passionate about their venture here. The service was far superior to other locals in charming casual friendliness and speed. The menu is basic but has interesting flavor combinations - I will be back to sample more. The coffee is for retail sale which is an extra drawcard. Wolf and Hound has found their little niche in a cafe populated area with coffee connoisseur options, not overwhelming people with too much menu choice and feeling refreshing design wise. Nothing is cluttered or complicated and I appreciate this! I most certainly will be back across town for this comfort.

In the end we found a table and the waiter came straight away, he was very friendly and didn't mind that my mum didn't want dry fruit in her fruit salad. After a small chat the food came in, we were both surprised how quickly it was. I ordered the Boston Burger which was amazing and it came with plenty of chips and it filled me up really easily. The bread is really soft and the chips were very tasty! My mum enjoyed her fruit salad and was very happy with the restaurant (which can be very difficult). All in all I would 100% recommend going to this place, with friendly staff and amazing food what else is there to want?

They've got 'em all. I usually randomly ask them to prepare me some scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms, tomato and spinach. The result is better than expected. Try their Benedict eggs as well. All worth it. Lovely and friendly staff! Nice background music!

Firstly we were told to sit and someone will come to us we waited and waited and waited no one came however when someone finally came she served the lady next to us who came after us we felt special... The same waitress then continued to talk with other patrons near us for around 15 minutes she can't be to busy... The food was bland overpriced very average at best we frequent many other places in the area that are so much better with food and service not sure how you have a 4.5 score I give you a 1 at best. If you're looking for nice food and good service try anywhere else but this place. I leave good reviews when I have a good experience and a negative review if I have a poor experience I have to say it's little wonder your business is poorly run when the owner can't even handle feedback your unprofessional reply pretty much sums up my negative feedback. ***UPDATE*** After meeting with the owner in person, he still failed to address any of the issues I raised online. I was told that I should have raised the issues when we were asked how the meal was. Maybe because we weren't asked! The staff member already knew we weren't happy with the service, and had no interest in asking. Just a heads up to anyone looking to try this place - the owner told me that negative Google reviews are only used by people wanting freebies. He has no interest in making any changes.
