After I moved in, there were some minor issues that needed to be addressed. I contacted VMG and within hours I had a schedule for correcting the problem. The staff at VMG took care of this in a quick professional and businesslike manner, exactly what I would have expected. Additionally, they followed up with me to make sure that I was satisfied. On the move out, Jenny provided very specific details of what was required of me to get the deposit back.... this was specific to cleaning the apartment. This was not complicated, but I did have a couple of points that I wanted clarified. I contacted the VMG and I received the response from Jenny within the hour. I followed instructions, went through the final walkthrough with Lloyd and got my deposit back. Every time I had personal contact with them it was nothing but what I would have expected; quick response time and follow up. I would, and have recommended VMG to others. My husband is a stay-at-home dad so we had told them he wouldn't have income to show but were told anyone over 18 was required to apply. I thought it wouldn't be an issue since I have always covered the expenses and make more than enough but was told everyone has to pass the credit requirements if they live there so we were denied. I wonder what parents with 18 and 19 year old children who live with them do. Surely these teenagers won't have any credit or decent credit to show either. I guess those families are out of luck just like us! This was by far the worst experience I have had in our search (and I've dealt with a lot). The assistant I worked with wasn't friendly either even when I tried to be overly friendly. Stay away from any rental properties here if you can manage. I imagine they would be awful to work with while actually living there as well.

I really feel that they built a trusting relationship with me and always cared for me as a renter. I also enjoyed living in a property where my neighbors were homeowners as they all really cared about the community and the long-term relationships they established and held with their neighbors. I felt very comfortable throughout all the years that I rented my home from A to B. The payment and maintenance portal was also very easy to use and they almost always fixed anything that needed maintenance within a few days whenever possible. We were told by the woman who answered the phone that one person on the lease could qualify/co-sign for the other applicants. Based on that information, all three of us moved forward with the application, paid the required fees, had our credit checked, and even took the time to visit the property because we were told that was required. We were then denied because all applicants were required to individually meet the qualifications. That is the exact information we were trying to clarify BEFORE applying. Had we been given accurate information from the beginning, we would not have submitted the applications, paid the fees, taken the credit inquiries, or spent our time visiting the property. I understand that properties have qualification requirements, and I have no issue with a company enforcing them. My issue is being given information by an employee that directly influenced our decision to apply, only to later be denied based on a requirement that contradicted what we were told. This entire experience felt misleading and was completely avoidable with clear and accurate communication from the beginning.

I now reside in a home that far surpassed my initial expectations. As a first-time homebuyer, I was clueless about my budget and my preferred location. Jody's expertise shone through as she walked us through everything we wanted to know... and everything we needed to know, but could not possibly anticipate. Jody connected me with an experienced lender who secured me an incredible interest rate, far lower than a first-time home buyer could otherwise anticipate. Jody did all the legwork to find potential homes and to customize an itinerary for each weekend, and dutifully drove to the south county every weekend and even some weeknights to accommodate our schedule and needs. I often felt apologetic for having so many questions, for having so many past due revelations (revelations of information she had tried to impress upon me previously). Every time I told her how sorry I was for waffling and changing directions, she would laughingly wave my apologies away and tell me that "it's all part of the process." She told me the process must evolve on it's own time, as we move through the different steps, and come to realize certain truths. The entire process is fundamental in home buyer decision-making but there are lots of twists and turns along the way. Without Jody as our loyal sherpa, we likely would have fallen off a cliff at some point. Jody was always available, responded immediately and with sincere enthusiasm. I came to understand that Jody was not simply making a sale. The most important aspect to her was to find a well-built, well-maintained home that met all our essential needs and fell within our budget. Easier said than done! Jody showed us properties that met every requirement we put forth, which was not easy within our budget. The ace in the hole was an amazing single-family home in Gilroy. I never imagined such a dream could come true. We submitted an offer on our first house and braced ourselves for the worst - but to our surprise, we got it! The reason we got it is that Jody knew precisely how to articulate an attractive counteroffer to secure the home. Her warm personality, clear communication and comprehensive experience and expertise were absolutely essential in tying all the necessary components together.
