It's about time The Poem Store got their own Yelp page, and I'm pleased as a poet to write their first review! I've been working with these well-written women for nearly two years as they've participated in several of our local Yelp events. They've also made appearances at several local festivals - such as the Commercial Street Night Market - so keep your eyes open if you haven't yet run across them. But I digress.
Here's how it works: approach these lovely ladies with their vintage typewriters, and tell them a little about yourself. Maybe share a story or two about something going on in your life. Feeling a little shy? Share a story about a friend who could use some encouragement or an uplifting note. Then come back in about 15-20 minutes (you'll hear them furiously typing away during this time) and when you return: MAGIC. They will have created a rich, touching, inspiring, and/or even slightly humorous piece of one-of-a-kind prose just for you. And you know what else? They do this all for free. Yes, they're a non-profit (and would surely appreciate your donation).
I'm so glad to see The Poem Store succeeding as well as they are. They were even recently featured at a poetry festival. I see nothing but a bright future (full of poetry!) ahead for this terrific team of gifted writers. read more
